3 Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people (Luke 2:10). Today marks the First Sunday of Advent the time of eager anticipation of the coming Messiah. As we gather for worship this morning, ask God, by his Holy Spirit, to help you eagerly anticipate his presence as we worship him. This morning we will begin our Advent Series: Hope From Wandering to Wondering. This series will focus in the first five books of the Bible and how they point us to the coming of Jesus. We will begin with Genesis and Hope for Fallen. Next week, we will be in Exodus looking at Hope for the Forgotten. We will also participate in Communion together. Next week, we will have the privilege of coming to our Lord s Table for Holy Communion. You are encouraged to use your Advent time in the coming week to reflect on the grace of the manger and your need for it. Jesus came as the perfect Lamb of God to take away the sin of the world. May that truth come home to you more and more this week as we anticipate gathering next Sunday to remember and believe.in the complete forgiveness of all of your sins. Pastor Michael s sermon discussion class will not be meeting in December. You are encouraged to use this time to visit with each other and welcome guests and visitors. OR, you can join Pastor Michael and others for Christmas Choir Practice upstairs in the Fellowship Hall! Pease CRC is seeking a part-time (10-12 hours/week) Ministry Support Staff person. If you or someone you know might be interested job descriptions are available in the church office or by contacting Pastor Michael or Anita Hubers. The deacons gratefully acknowledge the November 25, 2018 receipts: General Fund-$6,680 and Partners in Education, $1, Your offering next week will be received for the Benevolent Fund; on December 16 for the Youth Group; December 23-Milaca Area Pantry; December 25-Guatemala Action Project (GAP); December 30-Crossroads Bible Institute.

4 Our Church Family Congratulations to the following congregational members observing special days tomorrow, December 3rd: Ed & Dorothy Hanenburg 58th wedding anniversary Joyce Reiman 92nd birthday Eleanor Veurink 81st birthday Please keep Sheryll Kjos in your prayers as she anticipates surgery on the 6 th as a follow-up to the previous removal of some tumors. Thank you to those who volunteered to help serve coffee at the Elim Home on Sunday afternoons during the month of November. It was greatly appreciated! It's that time of year again...the time of year when our mouths start watering for special Christmas treats. Fill your cravings at the GEMS Bake Sale this morning, following our worship service in the Fireside Room. Items will be sold for a freewill donation. A reminder to all Sunday School kids and youth group members: TODAY begins the Christmas Pageant and Candlelight Service practice. Please meet in the front of the sanctuary immediately after church. Parents, please help your children make this transition from Little Lambs and Worship Center. Practice will be about 45 minutes and it is important for ALL to be at practice as parts are being assigned. The program is Sunday, December 16, at 5:00 p.m. COME SING IN THE CHRISTMAS CHOIR! Our rehearsals will begin this morning after church and will continue to meet each Sunday morning until Christmas. We will rehearse upstairs by the kitchen. Hope to see you there! If you have questions, please call Barb Bekius. Thanks to everyone who took mittens from the Helping Hands tree! We have almost emptied it twice! There are 4 mittens left. Which means around 60 kids will be getting gifts this year as a result of your generosity! Please remember to have your unwrapped gifts and/or cash donations to church by next Monday, December 10 th. Coffee Time in the Fireside Room is this Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. Everyone is welcome for a time of great coffee, treats and conversation.

5 Men s Timeout will meet this Saturday, December 8 th at 8:00 in the Fellowship Hall. Tom Hadquist will be our speaker. All men and boys are invited to join us! SNL will be back next week Sunday night at 4:00. GEMS, Cadets, and Kids Club will all meet as will our ALPHA Class where we will take up the questions of Why and How do I Pray and Read the Bible? Everyone is welcome. Cheer Baskets will be delivered on Wednesday, December 12. If you would like to give cards for those receiving the cheer baskets, the names are listed below. Bring the cards to church no later than noon on the 12th with their names clearly marked on the front of the envelope. Please help spread the joy of Christmas!
