Val and Katie Tamboli Word, Eucharist, Life Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time Jeremiah 23 Psalm 23 Ephesians 2 Mark 6 Jesus saw the vast crowd his heart was moved with pity for them The people gathered to meet Jesus who was just coming to land from across the sea They were making themselves known to Jesus in their need Jesus perceived their hunger and thirst for truth and care He knew how the people were neglected by those who saw themselves in charge of the welfare of the community Although we are sometimes rebuffed we must make known to pastors and others entrusted with pastoral care what we really need We might have to search or go miles to find the ones who can meet us in our life circumstances God will not abandon us In this season of voting we are called to seek out and discern candidates who best respond to the real human needs of voters and who truly work for the common good Each one can be sensitive to the needs that we perceive in our community We may be called to some shepherding in the name of the One who comes in the Bread and Wine

Celebrating the Sacraments The Sacrament of Reconciliation ("confession") is offered every Sunday in the "cry room," located to the left of the main entrance of the church. You may celebrate the sacrament "face -to-face" or anonymously (behind the priest) at 8:00-8:10 a.m., 10:20-10:40 a.m., and 4:45-5:00 p.m., or by appointment. To inquire about Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, Marriage, Anointing of the Sick, please call the Church Office at (901) SOCIAL OUTREACH HEALTH SUNDAY CLINIC Beginning in August, we will offer a Health Clinic in conjunction with our More Than A Meal event, which is held the last Sunday of every month. The Clinic will be held in the Braganza room and will be available to ALL parishioners and neighbors! The attendees have been screened by MIFA. PATRICK PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL WISH LIST MICAH MEMPHIS INTERFAITH COALITION FOR ACTION AND HOPE MICAH is a coalition of faith congregations and community organizations which have come together to amplify our voice for social justice in Memphis in this historical time of the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King s martyrdom. In alignment with our house meetings priority of social action, St Patrick s has joined MICAH. 6 BUILDING AND GROUNDS MAINTENANCE St. Pat s Fix-Up Crew Progress Report The Fix-Up Crew had a great work night Tuesday the 17th. Here are a few of the items we worked on: 1. AJ painted the Door from the Narthex leading into the church 2. Mo painted the door leading from the Sacristy to the church 3. David patched up holes in the walls in the Braganza Room, replaced all the bad ceiling tiles in the Braganza Room, mounted additional security mesh on the gate leading from the Center to 4th St. and hooked up the DVD player to the large TV in the Center 4. Don helped Dave repair some more sprinkler lines.still more work to be done but we are getting closer to having the grounds irrigated 5. Pete fixed the pilot light in the Center kitchen, as well as the catch on the oven door and started fixing some leaks in Ro and Father's bathrooms 6. Patricia Split painted the metal railing on MLK by our St Patrick s sign 7. We even had time to have a bratwurst, watermelon and a beer before we went 9 PM We will be having another Tuesday night work night in about 2 weeks. YOUTH MINISTRY Liturgy of the Word St. Pat s would like to offer Liturgy of the Word for children during the 11:00am Mass. However, we are in need of volunteer instructors. Liturgy of the word will be offered for children ages 4 through 8 years old. If you would like to become a volunteer instructor, please contact Chris Claude at crclaude@yahoo.com. Youth Group We are creating a Youth Group for Middle and High School-aged parishioners. Our informational kickoff meeting will be Saturday, August 18th in the Community Center, during which we will discuss our goals and plans for the group. Parents are invited and encouraged to attend this meeting. Pizza and ice cream will be served. Please contact Ro O Sullivan if your child would be interested in participating, or if you would like to become a Youth Group volunteer.
