7 Year-End Giving It is a custom of some to make special donations to St. Patrick's Church in the time between Thanksgiving and December 31st. Besides the thoughtfulness of these persons, one other reason for these special donations may be for IRS tax credit for Please keep St. Patrick's in mind as we come to the end of the year! Just to let you know: At Thanksgiving, an anonymous St. Patrick parishioner made a $10,000 endof-the-year donation for capital improvements. We all are very appreciative of this gift! Youth Ministry Attention! Middle School Youth! We want to help YOU have your best Advent yet! Please join us TONIGHT, Sunday, December 2 from 6:30-8:00 pm in the Parish Center for We Wait in Hope: Our Advent Transformation. We will begin with a light dinner followed by some activities to help you experience Advent in a special way this year. PARISH NEWS From Father Val-- Work of our Parish's Liturgy Committee As I have kept you informed, 25 St. Patrick parishioners have participated in further liturgical training by Father Bruce Cinquegrani at Christian Brothers University this autumn. It was a terrific course, and parishioners gained much from it. On Wednesday, November 14th, we had a Liturgy Committee meeting at the church. Twelve parishioners participated. (It was the night of the first "snow," and some parishioners couldn't make the meeting. Otherwise, I think we would have had at least 20 parishioners present!) The Liturgy Committee unanimously decided to make a minor change of what we do after Communion at St. Patrick's. Right after Communion is distributed, the main chalice and paten will not be purified by the presider at the altar, and the other cups purified at the side credence table. They will all be purified right after the conclusion of the Mass--by the Eucharistic Ministers from that Mass, and the sacristan. This is clearly within the liturgical directives of the Church. (Also, veteran parishioners here said that this practice was done here at St. Patrick's a few years ago.) If you have any questions or comments, please let me know. Please also plan to don your tackiest holiday sweater and join us December 16 for Rejoice! A Gaudete Sunday Dinner You'll Never Forget. Whether you can only come once or can join us every time, we look forward to seeing you there! For more information, please contact Jennifer Barr at barr.jenniferj@gmail.com. Next Sunday Second Collection: Retirement Fund for Religious Senior Catholic sisters, brothers, and religious order priests ministered for years for little to no pay. Their sacrifices now leave their religious communities without adequate retirement savings. Your gift to next Sunday s second collection helps to provide medications, nursing care, and more for tens of thousands of elderly religious. Please be generous.

Memphis Interfaith Coalition for Action and Hope THANKS SO MUCH! A big "thank you" to all who helped ensure our economically challenged families to experience a great and bountiful Thanksgiving. Our goal was 100 turkeys to fill the food bags we distributed to the families. It seemed an awesome and unobtainable goal, but with the help of the wonderful St. Patrick's angels (that is each of you) we reached our goal. You cannot know how appreciative people were who received the food bags and the turkeys. Time after time we were told how grateful they were to receive the food. Many stated they did not know what they were going to do for the Thanksgiving meal. Please know that your generosity warmed the hearts of all who enjoyed a hot Thanksgiving meal. Thank you so much and may God continue to shower his blessings upon each of you.
