2 Habitat Weekend is May 5-6 We need to raise $30,000 to pay for the materials we will use during our four weeks of building. A special offering will be taken at services May 5-6. Vision Slovakia Art Exhibit The Vision Slovakia Art Exhibit of paintings, prints and cards by Nancy Olker and Twink Starr will be in the Sanctuary Atrium from 8 a.m. to noon on Sundays, May 13 and 20. Bids will be opened after the 10:30 worship service on May 20. All proceeds from the sale of the art benefit the Lutheran Academy in Martin, Slovakia, for the furnishings of new classrooms. Celebrate Pastor Roger Eigenfeld s Retirement In anticipation of Pastor Roger Eigenfeld s retirement on April 30, all are invited to an open house celebration on Sunday, April 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. at his current congregation, St. Luke s in Middleton, Wisconsin. Habitat for Humanity This year is the 27th anniversary for Habitat for Humanity at St. Andrew s. This local mission is a great way to put your faith into action! We will be building a new home at 3695 St. Regis Drive in White Bear Lake beginning June 11 and continue the weeks of June 25 and July 9 and 16. Sign up to build, bring food, donate snacks and beverages, be a site host or support this mission financially. No experience is necessary (age 16 minimum). We need to raise $30,000 to pay for the materials we will use during our four weeks of building. A special offering will be taken at services May 5-6. 3 May is Mission Month at St. Andrew s Habitat Slovakia Jamaica Community Resource Center CRC: Seven Years and Counting The Community Resource Center (CRC) has been helping guests for the past seven years. Last year alone, we provided emergency food kits to 660 families and served 5,687 meals at our Community Meal. Thanks you for your ongoing financial and volunteer support of the CRC. Billy speaks of life and hope in all circumstances. Billy now inspires companies, churches, people all over the US with his message of hope. He has walked through unexpected life changing transition and knows that there is life in every step. Billy is a grandfather, composer, invests in others, speaker, and Christ follower. Special Guest Rollie Martinson Tuesday, June 12 Featuring the invigorating words of inspiration from Rollie Martinson a long time professor at Luther Seminary and exceptional leader in the Lutheran church and beyond. Rollie is writing and speaking to churches and seminaries around the journey of 3rd Chapter life. His topic for us is Navigating Elderhood s Major Changes. Rollie is a person you is known to be full of life he brings encouragement, education, awareness around God s Word. 3

4 Children, Youth and Family Ministry Financial Assistance Available Thanks to the generosity of many church members, we are able to offer financial support for children and youth to participate in our programs including summer events. Family Frolics Mondays, 9-10:45 a.m. Youth and Sports Center Gym Children birth through preschool (with a parent or adult) are invited to run, jump, and play during an open gym time through May 21. Wednesday Night Alive Wednesdays, 2:45-7:15 p.m. Youth and Sports Center Youth are invited to drop in any time for open gym, games, movies, a homework room, and time to connect with friends. Baptism Skipping Stone Workshop: Sunday, May 20, 12-1 p.m. Sanctuary Room 204 All ages are welcome to be baptized, if they ve not yet been baptized. It is expected that families attend a Baptism Workshop prior to the baptism of each of their children. The workshop is free of charge; please register at least one week prior. Childcare is available. Volunteers Welcome Media Production Volunteer We are looking for Media Production Volunteers to provide support to media operations at St. Andrew s Lutheran Church. You will be trained to help in many areas including but not limited to running cameras, progressing scripts, running cables, live streaming, and editing. In this role, you should be well-organized, have an eye for detail, able to work within a team, and able to work within a fast-paced environment. If you re familiar with video production and editing and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, we d like to meet with you! Join us for Spa Day at the Tubman Family Shelter in Maplewood. Spa Day provides women currently living at the shelter a time to relax and be pampered. Improvements are well under-way for an expected opening of late spring/early summer. 6 6 Discipleship 101 With Pastor Mike Carlson Mondays, through April 30; 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary Discipleship is the response to Jesus call to follow him. Followers of Christ Jesus have an integrated faith that is lived out at home, church, work, and in the world. Followers are equipped for life through the essential components of our baptismal vows: worship, scripture, fellowship, and prayer. The ultimate purpose of discipleship is to build God s kingdom on earth so that the whole world will know the healing power of Christ s love. In regard to our mission statement, discipleship is to Live in Christ and to Live in Christ is discipleship. It is our hope to have everyone at St. Andrew s participate in Discipleship 101.
