Amen. *AFFIRMATION OF FAITH The Apostle s Creed (Unison) I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of Heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; the third day He rose from the dead; He ascended into Heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God, the Father almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting. Amen. *HYMN Christ Beside Me No. 543 SCRIPTURE John 3: 1-17 Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus at night and said, Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him. Jesus replied, Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again. How can someone be born when they are old? Nicodemus asked. Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother s womb to be born! Jesus answered, Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, You must be born again. The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit. How can this be? Nicodemus asked. You are Israel s teacher, said Jesus, and do you not understand these things? Very truly I tell you, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things? No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven the Son of Man. Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. (Leader)...The word of God for the people of God. (People)...Thanks be to God. SERMON BORN FROM ABOVE Dr. Bob O Keef CALL TO DISCIPLESHIP *HYMN I Have Decided to Follow Jesus No

Register online at write TT next to your name on the Sunday attendance pad or call the church ( ). PLEASE NOTE: MARCH 20 - COOKOUT Meet at picnic tables behind the Sanctuary. Classes from 6:15 to 7:15 PM for the whole family! ECHO is a Christian nonprofit whose mission is to follow Jesus by reducing hunger and improving the lives of smallscale farmers worldwide through partnerships that equip people with agricultural resources and skills. ECHO shares knowledge that is proven and practical through Regional Impact Centers in East Africa, West Africa, Asia and a U.S. location in North Fort Myers, Florida, which serves the Latin America and the Caribbean. DEFENDING THE FAITH Taught by Rev. Dr. Bob O Keef Location: Chapel A Study of the Letters of John In the early days of the church a group of Christians believed that they were receiving direct inspiration from the Holy Spirit and no longer needed Jesus or His teaching. The three brief, but powerful letters address these ancient heresies. John demands that we know Jesus, that we walk in His light, and that we love in a radical way. John teaches that radical love should transform us and those whom we love. Dr. Bob will help us understand how to defend and live out our faith in the 21st Century. For the 795 million people who are hungry, the world is a challenging place. The urban poor face high prices and low incomes, making nutritious food unattainable. Rural families are often malnourished because of a lack of diverse nutrients in their diets, if they have enough to eat at all. ECHO s vision is to honor God by empowering the under-nourished with sustainable hunger solutions. To donate to the Mission of the Month, please use the envelope in the pew or go to GIVE online at THEOLOGY OF HYMNS Taught by Rev. 7 Holy Week and Easter SUNDAY, MARCH 25 A Living Hope 8:30 and 10:00 AM This seven-movement Cantata written by Tom Fettke moves us from the festivities of Palm Sunday. through the death and agony of Jesus, to our celebration of the resurrection message. Many of the melodies are drawn from 19th century American sources - hymn tunes, folk songs, and spirituals. The cantata will feature 3 soloists from the CHANCEL CHOIR - Mike Meehan, Marc Deur and Lorna Smilde, narrator Carol Baker, and an orchestra consisting of violin, cello, flute, clarinet, oboe and piano.
