4 Epistle Reading St. Paul's First Letter to the Corinthians 3:9-17 BRETHREN, we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building. According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder. I laid a foundation, and another man is building upon it. Let each man take care how he builds upon it. For no other foundation can any one lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any one builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw - each man's work will become manifest; for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. If the work which any man has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. If any man's work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire. Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you? If any one destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. For God's temple is holy, and that temple you are. English Reader: Rhiannon Voicu 4
5 Gospel Reading Matthew 14:22-34 At that time, Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds. And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up into the hills by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone, but the boat by this time was many furlongs distant from the land, beaten by the waves; for the wind was against them. And in the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea. But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, saying, "It is a ghost!" And they cried out for fear. But immediately he spoke to them, saying "Take heart, it is I; have no fear." And Peter answered him, "Lord, if it is you, bid me come to you on the water." He said, "Come." So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus; but when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, "Lord, save me." Jesus immediately reached out his hand and caught him, saying to him, "O man of little faith, why did you doubt?" And when they entered the boat, the wind ceased. And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, "Truly you are the Son of God." And when they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret. 5

12 MISSION BLANKETS (Look for the donation box in the Community Center hall across from the Office) We want to express our great appreciation to everyone who has donated afghans, blankets and shipping funds to the Mission Blankets project in the last quarter. We were able to complete our goal for the children and college students at St. Basil s Academy in New York. And most recently, the GOYAns made 25 double sided fleeces which we sent to a children's home on the Mexican American border. They have asked us to let all of you know how very much they love the blankets and thank you for all the work you put into them. Our fall project will be an Orthodox Orphanage in Anjara, Jordan, which has 32 children. Ways you can help by donating: Twin ready-made blankets Ribbon and trims Handmade quilts, blankets, afghans Funds for shipping (make checks payable to Holy Trinity Church, and write Mission Blankets in memo line) It is such a privilege to be part of a generous and kind-hearted church like Holy Trinity. 16 The Joys of Summer Summer. What a great time of the year for us to relax and slow down our busy pace. Kids are out of school and many of us take time off to enjoy the gifts that God s warmer weather brings. Let s think about a few things that make summer a uniquely special time of the year; things we can do like: Lie in the grass and look up at the clouds by day or stars by night. Feel those blades of green, fresh grass between your fingers and toes! Go to the beach. The water is finally warm enough to go in. Go swimming and maybe soak up the sun. It s tough to do in December, so enjoy it while you can. Take a long, driving trip and see the country. The weather usually cooperates more this time of year, and the kids don t have to miss school. Turn off the TV since all that s on is reruns anyway. The new shows don t return till fall. Have a conversation instead (texting doesn t count). Tackle that outdoor project that you ve been waiting to start. The weather s great and building something is a great way to take your mind off stuff while you immerse yourself in the project. See a movie on a weeknight. Better yet, find a drive-in theater. Yep, they still exist. Barely. Read! Your Bible. A novel. The instructions for the new grill. Just read. Late at night if you want. Of course, the obvious; take a vacation and unwind. God blesses us with summer as a time for renewal, connecting with family as well as relaxing on vacation. For some it is to get away for personal time. However, even in the midst of our absence, God s work is still on-going and requires financial support. Ministry takes place whether we are present or not. Further, your support is vital to your church s ministry in our community and beyond. At the start of summer, God doesn t suddenly take from us our time, talent, and treasure. Why should we suddenly keep it from Him because of a change in routine or travel? Please remember to continue fulfilling your stewardship pledge. Summer is undoubtedly vacation time. However, also be careful with your gift of summer vacation. Let s not take a vacation from church, which robs God of the worship due to Him. Worshiping in another congregation while on vacation can be refreshing, and may stimulate ideas you can bring back to our own Holy Trinity community. Christian stewardship and worship never take a vacation. It must be an ongoing, joyous activitiy for God, every day. Enjoy the summer! Harry Yianitsas 2015 Stewardship Chairman
