Although Seldom spoken, these words are on the minds of many Catholics children and adults alike as they approach a feast like Trinity Sunday. The truth is that God is a mystery, and by definition mysteries are puzzles of sorts, with no precise answers. Our faith tells us that God is relational; one God is a community of Three Persons Godhead, Begotten, and the Spirit of Love. Traditionally, this relationship has been named the Trinity of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We accept this truth. We proclaim it each time we make the sign of the cross. This truth personifies God and helps us understand ourselves as created in God s image. God creates, communicates with, and loves us. God delights in us as a parent delights in his or her children. We reflect God s love when we are creative and seek communication and delight in the beings God has created. St. Henry Parish NEWS Religious Education Page Three REGISTRATION for the 2017/2018 Religious Education Program is ongoing through June 30th, Monday through Thursday, 9 AM to 12 Noon and Tuesday evenings 6 8 PM. Vacation Bible Camp for 2017 will be held: July 10 July 14 (9:30 AM to 3:30 PM) August 14 August 18 (9:30 to 3:30 PM) Registration Fees: 1 child $55 per week; 2 children $70 per week; 3 or more children $95 per week. Registration forms may be picked up in our Religious Education Office. Fees must accompany registration forms. We have eliminated our payment plan. It was an honor and privilege for all of us to serve those in need. Love one another as I have loved you. A special shout out and thank you to the youth who volunteered their time, talent and treasure God has called you by name. A very special thank you to the bakeries for their donations of bread and desserts: Judicke s, Paulanto s, Vincent s; to Little Food Café for their donation of brownies; to Senerchia s for their donation of individual dinners. Special thank you to Imelda Bacarisas for her donation of ice cream cups which added to the yummy desserts that were distributed to all those in need. The experience of the Bayonne Soup Kitchen for all was that of God s call to love one another as He has loved us. ASCA News Congratulations to All Saints Catholic Academy s Class of 2017! The eighth graders have been awarded over $630,000 in scholarship money. The eighth grade graduated on June 9th at St. Henry s Church. Their Baccalaureate Mass was held at Blessed Miriam Teresa Parish St. Mary Church. May God bless the graduates as they continue their academic growth in high school. All students attended an assembly themed Gratitude. Open House for perspective new families is held on Wednesdays, 9 AM to 11 AM. The talks and discussions will be grounded upon Edward Sri s Men, Women & The Mystery of Love. These evenings will shed light on the mysterious dynamics between men and women, and at the same time challenge us to live out these relationships better. The series will conclude with a Mass celebrated by Cardinal Tobin. SUPPORT GROUPS FOR PARENTS GRIEV- ING THE DEATH OF A CHILD, sponsored by the Office of Family Life Ministries of the Archdiocese of Newark, are led by trained facilitators parents who have personally experienced the death of a child. Parish Registration Formal membership with the parish in which you feel comfortable creates a sense of family. Your parish is your spiritual home. We invite you to register with St. Henry Parish. If you are not sure whether or not you are already registered, call Jean at the rectory office However, if you are not receiving offering envelopes or various parish mailings, chances are you are not registered. Keep in mind that a person is not automatically a registered member because they were married here, were brought up here or attended St. Henry s school. To register, come to the rectory office, between 9 AM and 4 PM weekdays and simply complete a registration card. If this is not possible, call Jean at the rectory office. Remember that membership with your parish is a requirement if you wish to be a godparent or a sponsor for Confirmation. Parents who wish to have their child baptized or who wish to register their child for religious education must be members of the parish. 5 Page Five FOOD NEEDED! With more and more people in need coming to us for food, our supply quickly becomes depleted. Your donations of non-perishable foods, would be greatly appreciated: soups, tomato sauce, peanut butter, box/bag rice, box/can potatoes, cereals, oatmeal, pasta, tuna, other canned, jarred or boxed food items such as fruits, meats, etc. Food may be left in the boxes in church or brought directly to the parish office. THANK YOU!! Food Pantry Availability As part of our partnership with St. Vincent de Paul Parish, St. Henry Bayonne parishioners who are in need of food may access the Food Pantry at St. Vincent s. The Pantry will be open Thursdays, June 22nd, July 13th & 27th (closed the month of August), 3 5 PM and is located in the Rectory basement (entrance 46th St. ground level, near garage). IMPORTANT: In order to receive food you must indicate that you are from St. Henry Parish and bring with you current picture I.D. and current proof of residence (utility bill indicating your address in Bayonne). See Mary Ann A. with any questions while you are there. St. Henry food pantry, located in our Rectory Office, is available TUESDAYS & THURSDAYS, 10 AM 12 NOON (ONLY). NOTE: Bring picture ID. Flag Day On Wednesday, June 14th, we celebrate Flag Day. The United States flag has a noble heritage enriched by a cast of colorful characters who all added a special touch of history to the flag we now instantly recognize as the emblem of our country. When we fly the flag we think of liberty, freedom and pride. The American flag flies on the moon, sits atop Mount Everest, is hurling out in space. The flag is how America signs her name.
