With all the rain we have receive since May 16 th I now say, Rain, rain go away so the Wesleyan Village residents may go out and play. The Brooksville area and most of Florida have received an abundance of rain for the past three weeks. No flooding, for which we are thankful, and the ponds are full. Noteworthy items: The duplex in Good Shepherd Way sold and we congratulate Diane Casey and Bob and Carol Brown for their purchase of the new duplex. They are moved in, unpacking and all the good stuff which goes into moving. Congratulations! The Board of Directors has authorized a second duplex to be built. Construction on the second duplex will start, hopefully, within the next three months. Final drawings and permitting needs to be completed then the construction will begin. The Board of Directors continue to explore the possibility for the Wesleyan Village to provide Home Health Care in Hernando County (including the Wesleyan Village). This concept should not be new to Wesleyan Village members. This has been discussed in a variety of venues for more than a year. At the September 18, 2018, BOD s meeting the board will consider Home Health Care and will make one of the following decisions; first, let s move forward, secondly, no, this type of service is not within the scope of our mission, lastly, put the decision on hold. A one-bedroom remodeled Life Lease will go up for sale soon. The up-date is well done and is a great place for the right buyer. We continue to make some improvements throughout the village. We are still in the spring season with summer arriving on June 21; overall the Brooksville weather has been great. Connie and I have been sitting in the front of our home, most evenings, with pleasant temperatures and breezes from the Gulf. We wish you a great summer and look forward to the return of our winter residents. We miss you. I have used this blessing before but I want to reuse this scripture again, it is a powerful blessing: The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace. 2 FOURTH OF JULY FACTS Fourth of July Fun Facts really can be fun. The first fact is the most important one; July 4, 1776 is the day the Second Continental Congress approved the Declaration of Independence. Here are some Fourth of July Fun Facts about celebrations of Independence Day since Independence Day was first celebrated in Philadelphia on July 8, The Liberty Bell rang out from Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on July 8, It was sounded to bring the people out to the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence. It was read by Colonel John Nixon. In 1777, Bristol, Rhode Island celebrated July 4th by firing 13 gunshots, once in the morning and once again in the evening. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania commemorated our independence with an official Continental Congress dinner, parades, prayers, music, fireworks, speeches, 13 gun salutes, and more saw General George Washington celebrating by giving his soldiers a double ration of rum and having an artillery salute. Benjamin Franklin and John Adams were in Paris, France, and held a dinner for other Americans there. In 1779, July 4th fell on a Sunday, so it was observed the following Monday was the year the first state legislature, the Massachusetts General Court, established July 4th as a state celebration was the year that the name Independence Day" was used for the first time. It may have been used before then, but that was the first time it was recorded was the first time a July 4th party was held at the White House. In 1805, Lewis and Clark celebrated the first July 4th celebration west of the Mississippi, at Independence Creek. Three dates are significant to the holiday. Independence Day was made an unpaid holiday for federal employees by Congress. In 1938, it became a paid holiday, and in 1941, Congress declared it a federal holiday. 211 million dollars are spent on fireworks every year. More than 74 million people will have an Independence Day cookout.
