1 Alice Dupree Raynor News & Observer, The (Raleigh, NC) 01/17/2006 Alice Dupree Raynor, 101, of Oak Hill Assisted Living, Angier, went to meet her maker on January 16, She was preceded in death by her husband, James Broughton Raynor and her son, Ira Kent Raynor. She was an only child, born to Julia Pollard Dupree of Coats and Ira Dupree of Willow Spring, on January 18, Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Angier United Methodist Church with Eastern Star Rites. Burial to follow in the Angier Memorial Cemetery. Survivors include her children, Julia R. Thomas of New Bern, Martha R. Gale of Angier, and daughter-in-law, Mrs. Kent Raynor (Wandra) of Angier; grandchildren, Kathy Welch Parker and husband, Greg of Tarboro, Kimsey Welch and wife, Renee' of New Bern, Rick Raynor and wife, Terry of Raleigh, Adam Raynor and wife, Julie of Willow Spring, Dona Raynor of Venice, CA, Robbie Gale and Penny, of Rawlings, WY, Kenny Gale of Rawlings, WY, Jamie Sauls Brannon and husband, Keith of Greer, SC, Jane Thomas Choate and husband, Ron of Jacksonville, Ann Pittman and husband, Steve of Richmond, VA, Robbie Thomas and Cynthia of Fayetteville, NC; great-grandchildren, Corie, Caleb, Cody and Tony Gale, Matthew Parker, Kyle Brannon, Jake Welch, Madison, Trevor, and Tanner Raynor, Alex and Jarod Raynor, Jane Claire Choate and husband Chris, Stacey Cowardin, Brandon Cowardin and wife, Mila, Rachel and Sarah Thomas; great-great-grandchildren, Raghan, Allie, Logan and soon to be Luke; special cousins, Louis Dupree and Maxine Adams Gardner. Mrs. Raynor was a long-time Angier homemaker and landmark. She was visible daily, walking throughout town from store to store making her way to the post office and back home after stopping by to sww her son, Kent at Angier Paint. Her longevity has been contributed to this daily exercise routine as she said, "get up every morning and dress to go somewhere, and most important of all, have young friends to drive you places." Mrs. Raynor was Angier's Woman of the Year, She was known for visiting and continually doinf for friends and family. She was a charter member of Angier Eastern Star and an 83 year member of Angier United Methodist Church. She was a charter member of the Home Demonstration Club and Angier Senior Citizens Club. The 911 attack on America stimulated Mrs. Raynor, who was blind and deaf, to knit about 100 large American Flags. These flags were sent all over the U.S., such as Wyoming, California, South Carolina, Colorado, Virginia, etc. She had lived almost 100 years but had never seen such an attack on our beloved country. She sent these to friends, relatives, businesses and U.S. President Bush. 2 Allene Stewart Wood June 9, 1995 BENSON -- Mrs. Allene S. Wood, 77, of 3198 Hannah's Creek Road died Wednesday in Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Banner Chapel Advent Christian Church and was active in the Women's Home & Foreign Mission Society through the church. Mrs. Wood was a homemaker. She was born September 14, 1942 to the late Alton and Floy McGee and was preceded in death by brother, Elder Alton Derle McGee. She was the wife of Richard A. Taylor of Snellville, GA. 3 Edna Pope Raynor News & Observer, The (Raleigh, NC) 06/08/2007 Mrs. Edna Pope Raynor of Raleigh went to be with her heavenly Father on June 8, She was born in Harnett Co., to the late Joseph B. and Leva J. Pope and was preceded in death by her son Marion Raynor. Edna was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. A committed follower of Jesus Christ and a friend to many. She was a graduate of NC State University and worked for the NC Dept. of Health and Human Services for 43 years. She developed the Cancer Registry and also started the Cancer Clinics for North Carolina. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Rev.
