1 Alexander Critcher Daniel 08/24/2001 Alexander Critcher Daniel, 42, of 1057 Denning Road, Angier, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007, at his home. He was born Aug. 26, 1964, in Harnett County. He was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Matt Daniel. He was a residential and commercial plumber. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Coats by the Revs. Ronnie Byrd and Jesse Mooney. Burial will follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Survivors include his father and mother, Dorsey and Pauline Daniel of Dunn; maternal mother, Annie Critcher Weaver of Franklinton; son, Matthew Melvin Daniel of Coats; daughter, Dixie Cheyenne Daniel of Coats; sisters, Danette Scott of Creedmoor, Georgeanna Daniel of Cary and Misty A. Gil of Dunn; and brothers, Dorsey W. Daniel Jr. of Franklinton and James Phillip Jernigan of Coats. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home and other times at the home of Dorsey and Pauline Daniel, 1711 N.C. 55 East, Dunn. Anna Merle Daniels Faircloth 4/11/2005 Anna Daniels Faircloth, 71, of Marshville, Union County, died Friday at Union Regional Medical Center. She was born July 24, 1933, in Dunn and was a retired educator in Union County Public Schools. She was preceded in death by her husband, James "Algie" Faircloth Sr. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church of Marshville by the Rev. Alex Martin. Interment was at Marshville City Cemetery. Survivors include a son, James "Cliff" Faircloth and Delores of Indian Trail; a daughter, Millie F. Johnson and husband Jessie of Marshville; a brother, Leonard Daniels of Dunn; a sister, Margaret Baker of Erwin; and grandchildren, Anna Johnson, Colby Johnson, Ryan Faircloth and Jay Faircloth. 2 James William Daniels 09/19/2007 Retired Air Force Chief Master Sgt. James W. Daniels, 87, a resident of Clinton, Md., died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, at Charlotte Hall Veterans Center, Charlotte Hall, Md. He was born Oct. 11, 1919, in Harnett County and graduated from Dunn High School. Chief Daniels' military career spanned 35 years in the armed forces. He entered the Army Air Corps in April During World War II, Chief Daniels served in numerous maintenance functions, including flight engineer and gunner on B-24 Liberators and performed 40 combat missions during the Pacific Campaigns. He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross and two Air medals for his wartime service. He left the service after the war and returned in July He was one of the first members in the newly created United States Air Force in the fall of After serving in mobile maintenance in France and Germany, Chief Daniels was assigned to Technical Training in Florida where he served as a flight engineer instructor. He was transferred to the D.C. area as a flight engineer for the Air Transport Squadron Special Missions at Washington National Airport in February Chief Daniels relocated with the Special Missions operations when it moved to Andrews AFB in In July 1961 he joined the presidential aircrew as a flight engineer aboard Air Force One and remained in that position until he retired in April 1978, flying for Presidents Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford and Carter. Post-retirement, Chief Daniels used his hobby of carpentry and woodworking skills in a position with the Woodworking and Carpentry Shop at Andrews AFB. After his second retirement, Chief Daniels continued his woodworking craft by creating flag and shadow boxes, clocks, cabinets and furniture items. He was a voracious reader and often frequented Prince Georges County Public Library. He was a member of the Sam Fox Organization, American Legion, Air Force Sergeants' Association, and Disabled American Veterans. Chief Daniels had continued his service by volunteering twice a week at Andrews AFB Malcolm Grow Medical Center's Records Office. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elsie M. Haire Daniels and John W. Daniels; brothers, Leonard and Poindexter; sisters, Elsie Vernelle Walker and Anna Merle Faircloth; and nephew, Marvin Daniels. A graveside service with full military honors will be held Thursday, Sept. 27 at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. Mourners are to gather at the Administration Building at Arlington at 2:30 p.m. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Wanda Orwat Daniels; son, James W. Daniels Jr. of Albuquerque, N.M.; daughters, Patricia Daniels of Richmond, Va., and Judith Rubeck of West Linn, Ore.; grandsons, Will Rubeck of Bend, Ore., and Daniel Rubeck of Milwaukie, Ore.; great-

The Harnett County native was a son of the late James W. and Elsie Hair Daniels. He was a retired welder with Machine and Welding Supply Co. of Dunn. He was a founding member and former chief of the Dunn Rescue Squad, a member of Palmyra Lodge No. 147 AF&AM Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Consistory, Dunn Shrine Club and Sudan Shriners of New Bern. Mr. Daniels was preceded in death by a son, Marvin B. Daniels; and a sister, Anna Merle Faircloth. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Greenwood Cemetery by the Rev. King White. Daniels, 48, of Dunn died Monday morning at UNC Hospitals after an extended illness. Mr. Daniels contracted Hepatitis B while a member of the Dunn Rescue Squad. Benefits and fund-raisers had been held for him over the years. He was a at the top of the waiting list for a liver when he died. He was a 1973 graduate of Dunn High School and was a member of Mount Carmel PFWB Church where he served as the vice president of the Brotherhood, Sunday school superintendent and Sunday school teacher. He served on the Dunn Police Department and Dunn Rescue Squad for several years. He also worked for both Cromartie and Skinner funeral homes for a number of years. Mr. Daniels worked for the Department of Corrections for 15 years. He was a member of the State Employees Association where he served as treasurer for District 22. He received the President Inspiration Award for the State Employee Association. He was a member of the Palmyra Masonic Lodge, Sudan Temple in New Bern, the Dunn Shrine Club and the Scottish Rite Bodies of Wilmington. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Mount Carmel PFWB Church by the Rev. Johnny Peterson. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Ramona T. Daniels; his parents, Leonard O. Doc Daniels and Christine S. Daniels of Dunn; two brothers, Leonard O. Daniels Jr. and wife Diane of Clayton, Robert L. 5 Paul Junior P. J. Johnson 4/13/2005 P.J. Johnson, 68, of Coats died Monday afternoon at his home. The Harnett County native was the son of the late Paul and Alder Johnson. He was preceded in death by brothers, Roy and Sam Johnson; and sisters, Virginia Reeves and Myrtle Strickland. Mr. Johnson served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a retired farmer, a member of Coats Baptist Church and was an avid outdoor sportsman. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Coats Baptist Church by the Revs. Jesse Mooney and Ronnie Byrd. Burial will follow at Devotional Gardens.
