Julian M. Motley of Wake Forest will speak Sunday at both the 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. services. He will also preach at the nightly services, Monday through Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. The public is cordially invited. Motley graduated from Wake Forest College in 1949, two years after he accepted the call to pastor Antioch Baptist Church in Falcon. He also served Temple Baptist in Fayetteville, Ca-Vel Baptist in Roxboro and Rose Hill Baptist in Rose Hill before heading to Southeastern Seminary where he earned the master of divinity degree in While a student, heserved dual churches - Rawls Baptist and Holly Springs Baptist in Fuquay- Varina. 3 Letters To The Editor Writer's Name Corrected A letter to the editor, entitled "NCSSM Admission Process Is Thorough" and published July 3, was written by Jennifer Harrod, who was erroneously identified as Jennifer Howard. leaders are among them. It is an error to say that conservative Southern Baptists hold to a "verbatim dictation" view of scriptural inspiration or that we believe our moderate friends are "anathema." There is no "purge" of our seminaries being sought; only a place and a respect for the conservative position concerning the authority and integrity of the Bible. Tolerance was not "trashed" in Dallas; it was responsibly demonstrated. And the p\:esident's ruling out of order an attempt to alter the convention's autonomy in independently appointing its Committee on Boards rather than turning it over to Baptist State Convention officials was a necessary, constitutional ruling. And again, Dr. Stanley is neither a "bishop" nor a "Moral Majoritar~an." He is, howeverhobvious1y "born again." What's wrong wit that. How about telling the Durham community about the $12 million given to world hunger by Southern Baptists over the last 18 months, about the vast ministries to minorities throughout our country, about the 3,000missionaries carrying on a $loo-million missionary enterprise in a hundred nations on Earth, and about the influence of 14 million Southern Baptist people in 36,000churches across this land of America? 4 Revivalist The Rev. Julian ~ot'ley of Gorman Baptist Church in Durham ~o be guest evangelist in a revival to be held at Trinity Baptist Church starting Sunday and concluding a week later. Services will be at 7:30 p.m. daily, at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday and at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, April 4. A native of Martinsville, Va., the Rev. Mr. Motley is a graduate of Campbel1 College, Wake Forest University and Southeastern Seminary. Revival music will be directed by Steve Austin Jr. Nursery facilities will be provided. 5 Rev. Motley to speak at Cavel homecoming day Rev. Julian Motley of Durham will be the guest minister for Cavel Baptist Church homecoming day services Sunday, Aug. 3. The services will commemorate the church's 41st anniversary. Rev. Motley is pastor of Gorman Baptist Church, Durham, and served as pastor of the Cavel church from He is a native of Martinsville, Va., and a graduate of Campbell Junior College, Wake Forest College and Southeastern Baptist Seminary. He will speak at the 11 a.m. worship service. Lunch will be served picnic style at the cnurch following the morning service. An afternoon song service under the direction of Eddie Oakley will be held following lunch. Also included in this service will be a short historical presentation on important happenings of the church year.
