2 Page 2 THE W ORD Volum e 48 Issue 7 Greetings to Westville United Methodist Church First, I would like to offer you my condolences on the passing of Pastor Cathy. She was a special lady. I met her when she was first appointed to Westville. I had many conversations with her over the years. Secondly, I am excited to be your new pastor. Through the years, I have worked in pretty much every area of the church at Chesterton UMC. The minute we walked through the doors at Chesterton UMC, we felt like we were home. That was 19 ½ years ago. I received my calling to be a pastor in I have been a pastor for ten years. It s been an amazing journey with many ups and downs and twists and turns. God was with us every step of the way. One of my favorite passages is Jeremiah 29:11, For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. I want to assure you that we are moving forward and our journey has always been in God s hands and in God s timing. The timing is right for us to move to Westville UMC. I have felt restless at Chesterton UMC for about eight months now. I knew God was leading me somewhere, but I didn t know where until I received the call from our District Superintendent, Larry Whitehead. Once I found out where I was going, it felt like the weight of the world was lifted from my shoulders. On Monday, June 12 th, my husband, Bob, and I came to Westville UMC, which was also our 24 th Wedding Anniversary, to meet with your Staff Parish. The minute we walked through the doors of the church, we knew this was our new home. It was the same experience that we had at Chesterton UMC so long ago. We consider this a great anniversary present from God. I am looking forward to getting to know each one of you and to work alongside you. I want to work with you. I m looking forward to all that God has in store for us as we get to know one another. I plan on getting to know everyone here and see how you do ministry. Once we have built relationships with one another within the church, I plan on building relationships within the community. Please take the time to come and visit me, so that, I can get to know you. As soon as things start to calm down a little, I will let everyone know what my office hours are going to be. Please be patient with me as I learn your names and as we settle into our new surroundings. Blessings to you and yours, Pastor Cathy Allison
