2 Page 2 THE W ORD Volum e 47 Issue 12 Last month I spoke of how November is a gray month. November traditionally has only 42% sunshine for the month. However, the first half of this past November was great! In fact up to 11/18, November seemed like summer! So as I talk about December, I am humbled in knowing that December too may not be anything like I imagine. However, this I do know. We have a busy December before us. The church calendar is filled with so many good things! From coming together in one service to worship the Lord to a community caroling event on Christmas Day, December is full. Did you know who is behind the church wide Sunday school Christmas party? Sara and Michael Jerde! Bless them and your Sunday school class by enjoying this great time together. Our church is having the cookie walk again this year. Please support this event. We need lots of cookies! The Choir s cantata is going to be beautiful; and we the children singing during the service on the 18 th. Then at 11pm on Christmas Eve we celebrate Chris s birth! Wow! December is not only a busy month because of church, the whole month is also busy with holiday activities that is not church related. We have Christmas shopping, parties, food to buy, cookies to bake, a tree to decorate, snow to shovel (?) and the last of the leaves to rake, and a bunch of other holiday activities filling our days. With so much happening, we could easily forget what all the hubbub is all about: thanking God for sending His Son to earth so that we might live. Let us stop every so often through each day, and remember the birth of a certain baby long time ago in a stable amongst the smells and the chill of the night; a child who was born in such a lowly estate and yet at the same time is the King of the universe. Let us remember and honor the birth of our savior, Jesus. December can be busy, and full of fun and joy, but we can still remember the joy of Christ s birth. May God bless each of you this joyous season of celebration, Pastor Cathy

6 Page 6 Once a Month Craft Project: November 8th, (the second Tuesday of the month) ladies met in the Family Life Center for Craft Night. Mary Howard conducted the class teaching us how to make various plaques with seasonal and inspirational sayings and designs. There was a good variety of material to choose from. The plaques were painted in various colors with either a more intense color or a wash. The designs were applied then a finish coat was sprayed on. The plaques were lovely and the ladies had a good time. We will be meeting again Tuesday, December 13th. To make Christmas Cards of various designs. All ladies are welcome. If you have a friend or neighbor who would enjoy an evening out making something new and visiting with a group of friendly ladies you are most welcome. There is no charge at this time, but if at some time funding is no longer available there may be a modest charge for the project. A Different Approach to Fasting! Fast from anger and hatred. Give your family an extra dose of love each day. Fast from judging others. Before making any judgment, recall how Jesus forgives our faults. Fast from discouragement. Hold on to Jesus promise that he has a perfect plan for your life. Jeremiah 29:11) Fast from complaining. When you find your self about to complain, close your eyes and recall some of the little moments of joy Jesus has given you. Fast from resentment or bitterness. Work on forgiving those who may have hurt you. Fast from spending to much money. Try to reduce your spending by ten percent and give these savings to the poor.

9 Page 9 A MAN BIGGER THAN I A man bigger than I had walked this land before my time. He was sent to us by his father from above to show and teach mankind how to love. Miracles, many he performed with a spoken word, or the touch of his hand. He did this to show his love, As he walked through this troublesome land. A man bigger than I tried his best to turn us from our sinful and wicked ways. For in the end He knew Our souls would have to pay. Before He left this land, He left behind His salvation plan. A one way ticket to the promised land.
