2 Beloved ones in Christ, CShIZqX³ FROM THE VICAR S DESK Greetings to all you in the name of our Savior Jesus Christ. One more month God has guided us wonderfully. Let us praise and thank God Almighty. This is the time of climate change, let us pray for pleasant climate. The theme of the 3 rd week of October is My Peace I Give to You. At present, the world humanity longing for peace. Lack of peace is a real challenge to the world. In John 14: 27 Jesus said, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. Near to close of Jesus earthly ministry, when the forces opposed to Him were wild with fury and the conflict was approaching in the darkest and most desolate hours, he gathered with the Apostles in an upper room in Jerusalem for the period of the instruction, he was about to experience the betrayal of trusted friends, the desertion of those who had sworn allegiance un to death, the bitter mockery of brutal men, the agony of sin, and the terrible pain of horrible death on the Cross. Christ was concerned deeply about his bewildered and discouraged followers, whom he sought to calm and reassure by bequeathing legacy to them. For three years, the apostles had been associated with Christ. Even though his life had been full of struggles, they had seen clearly that his heart was ruled by peace of God. He had never victimized or rendered impatient, anxious or rebellious by outward circumstances. On every occasion he had been the master of circumstances. Often the apostles had marveled at his calmness and self control, Christ measured the extent of their grief and sought to comfort them by bequeathing His peace un to them. What is Peace? Peace is that rest of Soul that comes from the establishment of a right relationship with God and living in harmony with his will. One of the greatest gifts Jesus left with his disciples was peace. This was not kind of peace that would gives. The worlds peace depends on outward circumstances. It s a false peace, it doesn t last. The world s peace last s only as long as there is not trouble or sorrow or fighting. As soon as any kind of trail comes, immediately the world s peace vanishes. Peace of Christ was the peace of spirit that came from His oneness with God. Sorrows deeper than we can imagine broke over him; a cup bitter than we can conceive was given Him to drink; yet he was at peace. Harmony with God was the secret of His peace. Christ s peace is spiritual peace. The Pursuit of Peace. When life is viewed today from the standpoint of the individual, the family, or the community from its national aspects or from the larger international relationships, obviously there is a tremendous lack of peace. Sin has a separated and alienated people from God. King Solomon tried to find peace in the things of the world. He pursued knowledge and wisdom on the human level, in quest of peace and enduring satisfaction. Being disappointed in that quest, he came across all restrains and plunged in to a life of dissipation. Eventually he discovered that he had been pursuing peace and satisfaction in the wrong courses. Confusion, frustration, unrest, tension, violence and distress are widespread in our world. Longing for peace, people search for it in many places where it cannot be found. Many people think that if they only had plenty of money they would have peace, but the possession of money does not guaranty peace. Pursuers of peace should be taught that God is the only source of real, satisfying and abiding peace. The Provision of peace. Peace is not only to be desired, but also available. Christ acquires peace with God for those who would believe in him when he suffered and died on the Cross. But he was wounded for our transgressions he was bruised for our iniquities the chastisement of our peace was up on him and with his strips we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5) The basic fact of the Gospel is that Jesus Christ made peace through the blood of his Cross. Christ s death on the cross dealt fully to satisfy the justice of God and paying the penalty for the breaking of the law. For he himself is our peace, who has made as both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility (Eph : 2:14). When Christ was bidding his apostles farewell as they stood around him in speechless sorrow, he did not promise them an easy way to release from all burdens or freedom from temptation. Rather he frankly told them that they could expect hardship, persecution and even death for loyalty to him. The one gift that he offered to bestow on them as a parting legacy was peace. Christ imparts this peace to all who receive him as their savior. The world can neither give to you nor take from you, the Christ s peace.
