SUNDAY MORNING 8:30 & 10:30 A.M. Pastor Grace Adore SUNDAY 3:00 & 7:00 P.M. The Secret of Snowflake County Presented by the Youth of FBBC WEDNESDAY EVENING 7:00 P.M. Pastor Grace Prayer Introducing Today s Sermon By Pastor Grace Adore In John 4, the term worship is used ten times in just six verses. A thirsty Jesus encountered a sinful woman who tried to change the subject from fornication to worship geography, and Jesus cut her off at the pass. From the lips of Christ we learn: Worship is not a matter of where, but who. Worship is not a matter of sincerity alone, but of truth also. Worship must always be genuine, and God is seeking true worshippers. Worship in truth alone is deficient unless it is also worship in spirit. Let me use an analogy to help us understand this critical text. If I saw you sitting down to a twelve-ounce porterhouse steak and cared enough to comment on your nutrition, you might hear something like. "Meat is good for your diet, but real nutrition is vegetables and meat." What would I be emphasizing, vegetables or meat? Obviously the emphasis is upon the addition of vegetables to a diet already containing the requisite protein. In the same way this passage assumes the foundational presence of truth in worship and adds a second essential. If we do not worship in truth, we worship a false God, but it is not enough for our worship of God to stop at the point of accuracy; it must include spirit. The reason for this is that God is spirit. If we want to commune with God, we must use all of our being to connect with all that He is. Truth, when we are not diligent, can become a truth-only exercise. To engage with God, that truth must flow through our total person, into our emotions and will. Worship that halts and hovers over truth exclusively is not what God is seeking. "God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth." It is the whole-person communion that God desires, not simply the heartless fidelity of worship from the shoulders up. I believe that "spirit" in this passage does not refer to the Holy Spirit but to the human spirit, through God's Spirit is moving to fully engage our human spirits in adoration. (Excerpt taken from Vertical Church, by James McDonald.)

4 MISSIONARY MINUTE Here are some Highlights from this week s missionary. Read it. It will take you a minute. NOVEMBER UPDATE Dear Family in Christ, Greetings in our Lord and Savior s name! We can t tell you enough how grateful we are for your prayer and financial support. We have seen the Lord answer many prayers over this past month or two. We serve a mighty God. In September we were able to bring many household and personal items down to Decatur, Alabama, (Roll Tide!) and unload them into a warehouse. On November 18, it was all transferred onto a shipping container that is now on its way to Zambia, Africa. What an answer to prayer the arranging of all of that was! We are so glad to have a great portion of our personal items already on their way. We will be following shortly- Lord willing in February! Over the last six weeks on the road the Lord blessed in so many ways and gave us many new, dear friends with whom we have knitted our hearts together. We praise the Lord for two new churches that have committed to support us immediately and one or two others that hope to in the near future. We were blessed by so many at conferences and single meetings and are excited to see how God will use these relationships in the future in Zambia. With 95% of our monthly support goal regularly coming in, we marvel at His goodness to us. Alleluia to the Lamb! We rejoice with the angels in heaven over Candice who came to the Lord in Kansas City, MO. Through the Lord s testimony in my life, Candice came forward during a street service and asked how she can accept the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior. She faces many challenges and the world has quite a hold on her life. We ask that you please keep her in prayer as she begins her new life in Christ, that Jesus can show her the path to true victory over sin and addictions. We are targeting mid-february as our departure date, which allows us another few months to gather finances for travel cost, documentation and needed medical requirements. Shots... the one thing we aren t looking forward to! Take the good with the bad! Praises: We are blessed to spend time with family over the holidays and continue to pray for many of them who still haven t trusted Christ as their Savior. Direction for our son regarding him attending college. Deputation time is quickly transitioning to departure time! A full year of UNEVENT- FUL TRAVEL! Prayer Requests: That the Lord provides guidance and provision for the home we ll rent in Chipata Timing on selling our Ford Excursion A vehicle in Zambia and needed household supplies. Our two oldest children (Olivia and Josiah) will continue college in the states. We pray for the Lord s protection and guidance in their lives. We also ask that the Lord would continue to grow us and prepare our way for our service to him where ever we go. Contact Info: Mailing & Support Address: 990 Manitou Rd. Hilton, NY Website: ReachingZambiaForChrist.com Phone and Text: But thanks be to God, who giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:57 In Christ's service, Dan and Jan Jalowiec

8 Dear Pastor Grace, VISION STATEMENT This Generation Now is a strategy to engage people of all ages with the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ. Understanding the vulnerability of youth, the strategy purposes to passionately develop and model genuine Christian worship, growth, and service in order to positively impact their church and community. This vertical realignment of the church s focus will authenticate the presence of God to everyone. With urgency, we plan for this NOW. As my wife and I raise our little ones in this day and age it is nice to know that we can be part of a church community that cares about the future of ours and everyone else s children. It s a crazy world out there and my wife and I feel even more compelled now than ever to instill Godly principles and teach our children the difference Christ can make in someone s life and our ultimate desire is to lead our children to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. We are so glad to be part of a church focused squarely on providing a culture dedicated to encouraging adults to be all that we need to be spiritually such that our children see a genuine disciple of Christ in each of one us. I am glad that First Bible just doesn t settle for warm bodies in the seats but would rather have warm hearts towards Christ. Thank you for caring about my family. A father committed to This Generation Now READ ALL ABOUT IT... VISION.FBBC.INFO
