Merge United College Bible Study Summit Classrooms Introducing Today s Sermon By Pastor Grace Ever After A stereotypical fairytale ends with the words, And they lived happily ever after. One might think that happy ever after is the naïve stuff of children s fantasies. It really does not work out this way! Cinderella may have lived happily ever after with Prince Charming, but in the real world they d be in divorce court in a year! The 2007 Disney film Enchanted speaks of a more cynical view of happily ever after, much closer to real life. Remember the wedding of the millennium, Diana Spencer and Prince Charles? Widely billed as the fairytale story of a beautiful girl who marries a prince, the wedding was broadcast around the world to the TV audience of 750,000,000 people! 600,000 people lined the streets to capture a glimpse of the beautiful princess and her Prince Charming. Diana wore a dress with a 25 foot train. Within a decade the wedding of the millennium unraveled into just another miserable marriage that ended in adultery, shared visitation of the children, and monetary settlements. Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. (Psalms 16:11) The passage pictures the ultimate and genuine happy ever after scenario. The hope and future of eternity is contained in the glorious Gospel of Christ. The Gospel is the wonderful picture of Christ loving His bride the church and His desire to wisk her away from this world as we know it, to live happily ever after. 3 OUR CHURCH FAMILY ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING We will hold our annual business meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30. We will be electing eight new deacons that will serve for a three year term. The following men will be retiring after serving on the board for three years. If you see these men, please thank them for their service to FBBC: Brian Burnett, Paul D'Ambrosio, Andy Hinds, Bob Kaiser, Marc Maynard, Toma Pickett, Gary Romig, Brian Shea, and Alex Sluk. Next week we will post those who have accepted the nomination to run for deacon. SEND OFF CELEBRATION Jan Jalowiec and her family will leave for Zambia, Africa in February. 4 February 8 9, 2013 The God Moment Pastor has been encouraging us to look for the daily God Moments in our lives and we wanted to share with you a tremendous blessing and God Moment for the Women s Ministry. As preparations got underway for re.new 2013, the search for the right speaker took first priority. Using multiple resources, each speaker reviewed just didn t fit." Then our ministry leaders, Kim Vitelli and Kari Dutton, were invited to a women s conference at Open Door Shelley (Fiorito) Reed Baptist Church in Chili. They could not attend, so they asked a friend to go and her feedback was it was awesome. The conference was video taped. Kim watched just the first session and knew immediately Shelley Reed was the speaker for our women. To further confirm the hand of God in this Kim called Shelley and explained how she happened to have her name and asked her to PRAY and consider speaking. Shelley s reply - she AND her husband HAD already been praying about her speaking, if it was God s will, and about her speaking on the subject of peace so she immediately answered YES! Thank you Lord! I am very grateful for the opportunity to speak to the ladies at First Bible Baptist Church as I feel like it is my second home church. I went to Northstar Christian Academy from 4th grade through graduation and after college taught science for 3 years at NCA. Many of the families that attend your church were instrumental in making me the Christian woman I am today. I have always LOVED teaching! Teaching is first and foremost the spiritual gift God has given me to use for His glory. I accepted Jesus as my Savior when I was 8 years old and thank the Lord for His grace in my life. Meeting my husband Lex in 2004, my teaching focus changed. His goal was to become a military chaplain, and soon after I became pregnant he joined the United States Army. These transitions resulted in me becoming a stay at home Mom with Zoe (now 6) and Race (now 3). The Army has taken us all over the world and yet the Lord still gave me opportunities to teach; first my children and also doors were opened to teach military spouses. With each move God provided a group of women to minister to - WOW! As a result, I am passionate to study God s Word deeper and use it to disciple women! Recently, my home church, Open Door Baptist Church, asked me to speak at their women s conference. This was a big change for me, but God orchestrated all the details. God chose the topic of peace, and for a year and a half, He broke me and renewed my heart. The experience made me humbly realize I am acting as God s ambassador. I prayed that if God wanted me to do another conference, He would provide and He did. Kim Vitelli called and asked if I would be willing to speak at your women s conference in February. As both of our prayers met, I believe God has His hand in this and I am glad to say Yes to His call.
