Rik Benson Introducing Today s Sermon by Pastor Grace "Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live," John 11:25. Many critics reject the blood theology of the Bible. They see this as being barbaric, old-fashioned "slaughterhouse" religion. Some see themselves as too refined to identify with the idea of blood sacrifice. The Bible says, "The soul that sinneth, it shall die," Ezekiel 18:20 and, "The wages of sin is death," Romans 6:23. In the moral government of God, He has ordained that physical and eternal death be the just penalty for sin. People may think this unfair and extreme, but their protests only show how sin has blinded them to sin's true nature. The fact that God demands such a drastic penalty for sin should teach man not that God is brutal and harsh, but that sin is reprehensible and totally unacceptable to God. Yet God, in His divine love for man, has decreed that the penalty for sin may be born by a substitute. " For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul," Leviticus 17:11. Even if any man wanted to offer himself in payment for his sin, he could not. Sin has disqualified man from being an acceptable sacrifice. Consequently, in the Old Testament, certain select animals whose blood was shed vicariously for the sins of men served as a substitute for those who repented and trusted God's revelation. All of those sacrifices were pictures, prophecies and types of the One who would come to be that One Great Sacrifice for the sins of all men, Jesus Christ. This is why John introduced Him as the "Lamb of God," John 1:29. God became a man and accepted the penalty for all men's sins as our Substitute. One must repent and believe to be pardoned, "Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ," Acts 20:21. God, the Son, clothed in flesh, shed His blood for man's sin, thus satisfying every demand of holy justice. Is God a God of love? wrath? He's a God of Holiness! Holiness involves a strict separation from all sinfulness and perfect justice in dealing with man's sin. The Bible portrays the lost man as a slave to sin and speaks of freeing him in the same manner as slaves were redeemed in the ancient world. In Christ, we have "Redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins," Eph. 1:7. Apart from Christ, all people are alienated from God. Sin has fixed an impassable chasm. (Ephesians 2:13; Romans 5:8-9) Human sin produces a pollution of the heart that can only be cleansed by the blood of Christ, the grace of God. (I John 1:7; John 3:16) God's holiness is the issue in salvation. Sin offends His holiness. His holiness will not allow God to accept sin, this sin condemns man to physical and spiritual death, separation from God forever in Hell. Sin is not funny or humorous to God, and is not something with which we are to trifle. "Fools make a mock at sin...," Pro. 14:9. The resurrection of Christ proved several things, among which is the fact that only He has the power of life and death. "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord," Romans 6:23.

4 SPORTS OUTREACH MINISTRY G&T Spring and Summer Sports Youth Baseball Registration for G&T Tee Ball and Coach Pitch Baseball is open. Registration forms are available in the lobby. Waiting lists are now being formed for all other divisions. Volunteers are needed in: Concessions, Field Prep, Coaches, Umpires, and more. Put your love for people into action. No experience necessary and limited availability is fine. Softball G&T Softball registration for both the Men s and Women s leagues is still open for the upcoming season. The dates of this event are April 13 & 14, 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. at 439 Laurelwood Drive (near Park Ridge Hospital). 5 MISSIONARY MINUTE Here are some Highlights from this week s missionary. Read it. It will take you a minute. By The Hinds MARCH 2012 Dear praying friends and family, It seems the news about Holy Week this year is clouded over with the president of Guatemala pushing an agenda to legalize drugs or as he says to at least talk about the option. Then again there is a lot of news about the daily robberies on the streets with motorcycles coming along side cars caught in traffic many times just to rob their cell phones. People send the newspaper pictures they took with their cell phones (hmmm, maybe not too smart). Yesterday a pickup truck saw it happening and one guy got out and shot at the attackers. Both on the motorcycle were killed (25 yr. old and 13 yr. old). On the positive side, the annual Pastors Camp directed by David Lott, was a blessing with many pastors and laymen from Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala assisting. The new tract design for El Salvador was well received with requests for more. We are grateful to John Rice who helped us be able to purchase the materials. Please pray with us for the finances to print more and get them to these men. One place is a new work in the town of Cara Sucia in El Salvador. Besides the over 7,000 tracts passed out at the camp, we have another 3,000 that we are finishing to be passed out to churches here in Guatemala. You could see the battle taking place as we worked to get the tracts done for the camp. The ink became like molasses and wouldn t pass the paper. The rollers would ink one side but not the other or begin spraying ink everywhere. The paper curled like tacos. The two staplers refused to staple with over half having to be removed and re-stapled. The guillotine had to be triggered three to four times before it would cycle. The interesting thing is after getting the tracts to the camp, the staplers work perfectly and the guillotine cycles every time. I plan to check the settings on the printer and crank it up when we finish the tracts in process. Please pray with us that we will be able to flood the pastors with tracts. Join us in the battle. The Home Bible Study in the condominiums continues to grow and even more importantly, the people are growing spiritually and rejoicing in being able to share the truth of God s Word with other people, and answer questions about the Bible. It s an added blessing to have two men in the Study also teaching. Several ladies have little children and we are talking with them about possibly starting a young mothers discipleship study in their neighborhood with Cathy teaching them. Because of the large number attending the Home Bible Study we are also praying about dividing the class beginning a group in another location. We are so thankful for your prayers and support..

We will have a short devotional, testimonies and prayer. Café Column Café First offers a wide variety of pastries, snacks, treats and beverages. The Café is open before and after the Sunday morning services. Due to rising operating costs for the Cafe we will need to increase some of our prices starting April 15.
