Project Hope brings the light of hope to the children of the neediest families in our area by bringing them Christmas presents and the Good News of Jesus Christ. The children who the church will be helping will either be identified through the Angel Tree, a project of Prison Fellowship Ministry, or they will be identified as needy through the local school system. The Project Hope Angel Tree will be set up in the church parlor starting Sunday, November 20. Please take an angel and be an angel. Prayer Walk and Volunteer Tutoring at Our Lytle Schools PRAYER WALKS: Once a month interested people are invited, with the blessing of the school, to do a prayer walk around the Lytle schools. They pray for protection, blessings and courage for the school faculty and students. The next community prayer date is Monday, November 14 at 6 PM, starting at the primary school parking lot. Last time they used a golf cart, so don t let the walking part keep you away. VOLUNTEER TUTORING: The Lytle schools have begun a tutoring program and more information can be obtained from the church office. They need people both during school hours and after school. Right now they are working with the primary and elementary schools but plan to expand. Please pray about this wonderful way of helping our community. The holidays are here - time to start stressing out! But maybe not: Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. - John 14:27 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. - 1 Peter 5:6-7 Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. - Isaiah 41:10 Scott

3 M. A. D. Club Underway Music, Art, And Drama Our newest ministry program, Club, is going great. Children from 2 nd grade through 5 th grade gather every Wednesday from 4 to 6 PM to do art projects, play games, eat snacks, and work on a wonderful Christmas musical called The Power of the KING. Through this program they are learning about the love of God and the Good News of Jesus Christ. The musical is all about a radio station with the call sign K.I.N.G. A blizzard has struck and a children s choir has taken shelter with them. With the help of a back-up generator and the choir, the staff of K.I.N.G. broadcast the real Christmas story. Come on Wednesday, December 7 at 7 PM to see this musical and to help support our newest ministry program. Emmaus News: Community Gathering this Friday!!!! Thank you to all the team members of Walk to Emmaus #1, which took place October 20 through 23. It was the best walk ever. Special thanks to lay leader of the walk, Connie Norton. The next Kononia sponsored walk is men's Emmaus walk #2 at Mt Wesley May 4-7, They are still looking for team members, so get your applications in. The first team meeting for this men s walk will be in January. If you re interested in serving on the team for the woman s walk in the fall of 2017, it s not too early to apply. In other Emmaus news, the next Koinonia gathering will be at New Fountain UMC on November 11th. The Koinonia community is made up of Emmaus people, from many denominations, who join together on the second Friday of each month (7:30 PM) for a praise-filled community gathering. For information about Walk to Emmaus, a very special Christian retreat, call the church office, or see the Emmaus bulletin board. Camino Real Church Gathering and Charge Conference Sunday, November 13, Starting at 3:30 PM Our church is part of the Camino Real Cluster Group, which runs from Lytle down to Laredo, and on Sunday, November 13, we are getting together at Cotulla UMC for a church gathering and celebration. This will fulfill our charge conference requirements, but that will be a small part of the gathering. We are going to worship together, hear a little bit about each church and its community, and share a time of fellowship with a meal provided by the folks in Cotulla. If you would like to commute with us, meet at the church at 2:15 PM, or simply meet us at Cotulla UMC (302 Center St, Cotulla, TX 78014, Phone: (830) ) at 3:30 PM. United Methodist Women Making Christmas Cards for the Nursing Home The UMW will be meeting on Monday, November 14 at 2:30 PM at the home of Betty McGinnis. They will be making Christmas cards to be given to folks at the Lytle Nursing Home. Come and join in this wonderful time of service and fellowship. Please talk to Linda Bahlmann at (210) for more information about this event and the UMW in general.
4 Food Pantry Ministry The two Food Pantry days in October saw lots of families helped. Our workers have been terrific, but we can always use more. Just come at 5:30 PM to help prepare for the 6 to 7 PM rush on the first and third Mondays in November (November 7 and 21). We will again be handing out canned goods, as well as frozen meats and fresh fruits and vegetables. Thank you for supporting the Methodist Food Pantry. A reminder that we also need volunteers to help pick up the food from the San Antonio Food Bank, and Spanish speakers to help with registrations. If you can help in either of these ways, please talk to Diana Jackson or Linda Stewart. Prayer Requests for the Lytle United Methodist Church Family The family of Dirck Yoast who died in September. This powerful book and group study provided inspiration and vision for what can happen when we intentionally listen for the Holy Spirit's promptings and respond decisively to what we hear.
5 Praise and Prayer A Wednesday night worship get-together A weekly prayer and praise service takes place on Wednesday at 7 PM. It is led by Connie Norton and others with various speakers giving the message. It is a wonderful time to praise God with song, to pray, and to hear a short lesson on His Holy Word. Beautiful New Garden by the church front door Thank you to Kyle and Diana Jackson and company for planting a beautiful new garden by the church front entrance. This area had been torn up because the church trustees had finally located the discharge pipe for the bathrooms and had installed a cleanout (thank you trustees, led by Glenn Norton). Because of the shade of the oak tree it has always been hard to grow grass here, so the garden is a beautiful solution. Thank you Kyle and Diana. Tuesday Morning Prayer Group at the Church, 9 to 10 AM Please come and join the weekly one-hour prayer group, led by the pastor, on Tuesday mornings. The group meets from 9 to 10 AM to pray for those on the church prayer list, for the families of the church, and for the city, the country and the world. Thank You To Lloyd Scott for doing major plumbing repairs at the church. To Brent Meyer for doing repairs on the sanctuary sound system. To all those who worked so hard on the quarterly highway trash pick-up day on November 5. Our next Trash pick-up day will be in January 28. To the United Methodist Women for providing family meals for funerals and at other times of need. To those who participated in our Stewardship Sunday, and to all who give so faithfully to this church. To Ginger Meyer and family for their faithful work as church custodians. Flood Buckets Delivered The Methodist church responds quickly to those in need. For victims of flood, what they need is help cleaning up. The Methodist church provides volunteers as well as Flood Buckets. Each Flood Bucket contains about $70 worth of cleaning materials. With the recent flooding in Louisiana and the Houston area, our supply house was depleted of stored flood buckets and the call went out for replacements. Thank you to everyone who helped from our church. All the flood buckets that were purchased have been delivered, and we re ready to help people the next time flooding strikes. Next Interactive Dinner Theater The church is putting together another interactive dinner theater to raise funds for the church s food pantry. This event will take place on Saturday Night, April 1, at 6 PM and Sunday Night, April 2, at 5 PM, and will include dinner. There will also be a silent auction each night so think about what you could donate for the food pantry ministry. Sign-ups will take place in January, and rehearsals will be on some of the Sundays in February and March. Keep this ministry in your prayers.
