Graves, Pastor 2600 Assembly Road March 2012 COMMENTS FROM THE COMMITTEE Call Him By Name Congratulations to: WOG s 2011 Missionary of the Year Tonya Minor As a dedicated missionary, when the going is tough Tonya gets going. She always goes the extra mile. She participates in all of the service programs for the missionary ministry with great joy. Tonya is a warm and compassionate person with a true heart of caring. She has given much of her time, herself, her energy and even her finances to help those in need. Tonya is a lovely young lady and a hardworking dedicated member of White Oak Grove. Tonya also gives some of her time and service to the Youth Ministry. She has three handsome sons, Jordan, Isaiah, and Daniel. It shows that she is raising them in the fear and admonition of the Lord. They are in church Sunday mornings on a regular basis and participate in Sunday school and many of the youth activities. Always keep God first and continue the good work He has placed in you. 2 SENIOR SPOTLIGHT Alton Willette Moyer Alton Willette Moyer was born on June 7, He graduated from Douglass High School in Eden, North Carolina. While at Douglass he was known for his basketball skills and his charm. He is using that charm today on his 8 grandchildren. Alton is an antique car enthusiast and spends a great deal of time with his paintings and wood work. He is very proud to be a part of the WOG Kitchen Ministry and the Men s Ministry, where he serves both with pride. THIS IS WHY WE SHOULD NEVER SAY, WHY LORD, WHY ME.. Me (in a tizzy): God, can I ask you something? GOD: Sure. Me: Promise you won t get mad? GOD: What do you mean? Me (frustrated): Why did you let so much stuff happen to me today? GOD: What do you mean? Me: Well I woke up late, GOD: Yes Me: My car took forever to start, GOD: Okay Me (growling): At lunch, they made my sandwich wrong and I had to wait GOD: Hmmmmm Me: On the way home, my phone went dead, just as I picked up a call GOD: Alright. Me (loudly): And to top it all off, when I got home, I just wanted to soak my feet in my foot massager and relax, but it wouldn t work. Nothing went right today! Why did you do that? GOD: Well, let me see the death angel was at your bed this morning and I had to send one of the other angels to battle him for your life. I let you sleep through that. Me (humbled): Oh GOD: I didn t let your car start because there was a drunk driver on your route that might have hit you if you were on the road. Continued on the last page YOUTH ACHIEVEMENTS Congratulations to Patrick Perkins, Jr. (5 th grade), Carrii Perkins (4 th grade) and Camrin Perkins (4 th grade), on Perfect Attendance for the school year. All three are students at Frazier Elementary and are the children of Mr. Patrick Perkins. Jordan Williams, daughter of Keary and Yolanda Williams, made the A Honor Roll at Brown Summit Middle School, where she is in the 8 th grade. Kendall Williams, daughter of Keary and Yolanda Williams, made the A/B Honor Roll at Brooks Global Studies where she is in the 5 th grade. YOUTH CHAT Each month, there will be a question in the newsletter. WOG youth members will have the opportunity to respond to the question and then responses will be published in the next month s newsletter, along with the new question. This month s question: Facebook? How do you stay holy on Jordan Williams: Resist the temptation to get on Facebook. If you can t resist, be nice and never send inappropriate messages. See the back of the newsletter for addresses. 23 rd Psalm for Students The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not flunk He keepeth me from lying down when I should be studying He leadeth me beside the water cooler for a study break He restores my faith in study guides He leads me to better study habits For my grades sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of borderline grades I will not have a nervous breakdown For thou art with me My prayers and my friends, they comfort me Thou givest me the answer in moments of blankness Thou anointest my head with understanding My test paper runneth over with questions I recognize. Surely passing grades and flying colours shall follow me All the days of my examinations And I shall not have to dwell in this exam hall forever.

On his way there two nuns look at him and he says, "Good morning sisters" and they reply in a sing song manner, "You got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning." This stuns the priest who thought he had been very polite but he just goes on. He encounters a Brother a little while later along the way and he says, "Good morning Brother." The Brother replies in a sing song voice, "You got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning." The priest looks confused at all this but goes on. He gets a little farther and he comes across a fellow priest and he says, "Good morning Father." The priest replies in a sing song manner, "You got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning." Now the priest was mad. He continues his walk to the dining hall not saying a word to anyone. The Bishop sees him and says, "Father..." The young priest was not going to take any more even from the bishop. He looks at the bishop and says, "No, I did not get up on the wrong side of the bed this morning." The bishop looks at him stunned and says "What?" The priest realized his mistake and said "I am sorry your holiness, what is it you want." The bishop looks at him and says, "All I was going to do was ask you why you had on Sister Ann's shoes?" A man placed some flowers on the grave of his dearly departed mother and started back toward his car when his attention was diverted to another man kneeling at a grave. The man seemed to be praying with profound intensity and kept repeating, "Why did you have to die? Why did you have to die?" The first man approached him and said, "Sir, I don't wish to interfere with your private grief, but this demonstration of pain is more than I've ever seen before. For whom do you mourn so deeply? A child? A parent?" The mourner took a moment to collect himself, then replied, "My wife's first husband." A woman in her 70s was driving with a friend. She went through a red light. The friend didn't say anything. But then she went through another one. The friend said, "Do you realize you just went through two red lights?" "Oh," she said, "was I driving?" 6 Continued from page 2 This Is Why. Me (ashamed):. GOD: The first person who made your sandwich today was sick and I didn t want you to catch what they have. I knew you couldn t afford to miss work. Me (embarrassed): Oh GOD: Your phone went dead because the person that was calling was going to give you a false witness about what you said on that call. I didn t even let you talk to them so you would be covered. Me (softly): I see God GOD: Oh and that foot massager. It had a shortage that was going to throw out all of the power in your house tonight. I didn t think you wanted to be in the dark. Me: I m sorry God. GOD: Don t be sorry. Just learn to trust me in all things, the good and the bad. Me: I WILL trust you God GOD: And don t doubt that my plan for your day is always better than your plan. Me: I won t God. And let me just tell you God, thank you for everything today. GOD: You re welcome child. It was just another day being your God and I love looking after my children.
