While walking on water to Jesus, Peter began to sink (Matt. 14:25 31). When Jesus was arrested, Peter swore he didn t know Him (Mark 14:66 72). But Peter s encounter with the risen Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit changed his life. Peter came to understand that God s divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness (2 Peter 1:3). An amazing statement from a man who had many flaws! Our relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ is the source of the wisdom, patience, and power we need to honor God, help others, and meet the challenges of today. Through Him, we can overcome our hesitations and feelings of inadequacy. In every situation, He has given us everything we need to serve and honor Him. Thank You, Father, for giving me everything I need to serve You and encourage others today. May I honor You in all I do. God promises to provide everything we need to honor Him with our lives. 2 2 Announcements Deacons on call for June 2018 are Deacon Gray & Deacon Mansell. Deacon Gray can be reached at (864) and Deacon Mansell can be reached at (864) Bible Class HAS BEEN CANCELED for the SUMMER. The Women s Ministry will meet on Thursday June 14, 2018 at 6:30pm. The Men s Ministry will meet Saturday June 16, 2018 at 10am. All men are welcome. Inductive Bible Study will resume on Saturday June 16, 2018 at 2pm. The Usher s Ministry will meet on the 4th Saturday June 23, 2018 at 11am. All members are asked to be present. Anyone who would like to be a part of this ministry is welcome to come out to this meeting. Any questions, please see Ministry Leader Shirley Lewis. If any children/youth (Boys & Girls) between the ages of 5-18 are interested in playing basketball, now is the time to sign up. There is a sign up sheet in the bookstore. Family and Friends Day will be observed on July 8, This year, we are planning to enjoy a weekend of fun, fellowship and a new component, service. There will be more details to come in the following weeks leading up to this annual celebration. So, get your friends, get your family and let s get ready for our Shady Oak Family and Friends Day! Vacation Bible School will take place July 16-20, If you re interested in volunteering See Chasta Posey or Minister Posey. Also if you re interested in supporting VBS through monetary donation, the Ushers will have designated envelopes or you can notate it on your tithe envelope. More information is soon to follow! 8 8 Reminder! The food pantry and clothes closet are now open twice a month, on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays. If someone you know needs assistance, please let them know about this outreach ministry. 9 9 ATTENTION ALL YOUTH! Every month we are looking for youth to serve in the Youth Sunday program. This includes presiding, prayer, scripture and announcements. Please see Sister JaCinda Smith if you are interested in participating. Youth Sunday school begins at 9am and prayer in the Pastor s study at 9:50am.
