3 P a g e 3 (Just Older Youth 50+) The JOY CLUB is a senior-age fellowship group that enjoys getting together to laugh, talk and eat in different types of venues; some at church and others out in the community. Our upcoming schedule for the next quarter is: 4/8/17 The Stone Rolled Away, Rocky Hock Playhouse, Edenton, NC. We had 12 people go on this outing and we thoroughly enjoyed the buffet and play...may make this trip again to see a different production! 5/15/17 Tidewater Tides baseball game 6/24/17 Fishing trip on the Ocean Eagle Monday 6:35pm Headboat leaving from Hampton waterfront $12/pp for 20+ fans Saturday 1:30-5:30PM $40/pp Reservations by 5/1/17 We are calling this a family fishing day. Invite your children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Come & enjoy the water if you don t like to fish. If you have ideas for activities that you think the Joy Club would enjoy, come be a part of the planning group...contact Rich Corey (rcorey1@charter.net) or myself, Janie Murrell (Janie.murrell@yahoo.com) Cast your burden upon the He is Just a Prayer Away Lord and He will sustain When we have a problem, our first thought is to contact friend. In our world today, with so many technolog- you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken. ical advances, it is easy to communicate even with people who are far away. Just a hundred years ago, people Psalm 55:22 NASB waited days to receive a message from another town! Certainly God desires that we help to bear one another s burdens and that we seek wise counsel. The trouble is that in doing so, often we fail to take our burdens to the One who can do something about them. We are called to release our cares to our heavenly Father. A cause with an effect is implied in Psalm 55:22 If you cast your burden on Him, then He will sustain you. Lift the worries that weigh on my mind and heart today, Father. I can t bear them alone any longer. In my weakness, You are strong. Thank You for Your promise to sustain me. Amen. 7 P a g e 7 The Missions Corner Our next meeting: May 17th 7:00 PM in Room 127, FLC WE CARE...FLC...May 9th, 10am 12 noon Many baby blankets and bereavement sets were delivered to Bon Secours Maryview Hospital last month. We are so glad when we are able to share the precious knitted, crocheted and sewn items. But the sad part is that we don t have enough friends to help us. We never know how much our gifts have touched the lives of a young mother or a senior who receives a lap blanket or prayer shawl, but Christ does and that is all that counts. This card is attached to each shawl and lap blanket: This wrap was made especially for you. It was prayerfully created so that you may always feel the covering of God s Peace, Love, Blessings and Healing in your life. Please come and be a part of this loving ministry. If you don t know how, we will teach. If you have questions, just call me ( ). Our hands serve Christ, Janie Murrell
8 P a g e 8 AFTER EASTER - a six-week discussion Bible study of the resurrection accounts in the 4 gospels and Acts. Sundays, May 21 June 25 Time: 6:30 8:00 p.m. Location: Rm. 7 (Main building) Description: We ll consider what it was really like (remember, they still weren t sure what was going to happen) and what the authors were trying to tell us. And, yes, feel free to bring anyone you d like to invite. Want to be a part of this study group (or have questions), contact : LynneHundley222@gmail.com or WOMEN S BIBLE STUDY Wednesdays, April 28-May 31 Come Join Us! Study: Five Things God Uses to Grow Your Faith by Andy Stanley Time: 9:30-11:30am Location: Rm. 127 (Family Life Center) Description: Imagine how different our outlook on life would be if you had absolute confidence that God was with you. Imagine how differently you would respond to difficulties, temptations, and even good things if you knew with certainty that God was in all of it and was planning to leverage it for good. In other words, imagine what it would be like to have PERFECT faith. In this new small group Bible study, Andy Stanley builds a biblical case for five things God uses to grow BIG faith. For more information, contact Melanie Cena (moalie43@hotmail.com) You are invited to come and worship the Lord through Prayer and Thanksgiving on: Tuesdays Wednesdays 1:00-2:00 PM 6:00-6:30 AM Chapel, Rm 5 (Main Building) Sanctuary (Main Building)
