From the Pastor A Matter of Perspective As we enter a New Year we sometimes wonder to ourselves what the New Year will bring. We brood about the challenges that will come, and the opportunities to be faithful. We think about whether we will be able to meet the challenges that lie ahead. We think about whether we will draw closer to our Heavenly Father in the year ahead or whether we will be drifting further away. If you re at all like me you do a lot of wondering at the beginning of a New Year. I found myself contemplating what heaven will be like. Perhaps you think about that, too, sometimes? Recently I read humorous glimpse of heaven that made me smile - I hope you have positive thoughts about heaven as well. Please note the following: A cat died and went to Pet Heaven. God met her at the gates and said, You have been a good cat all these years. Anything you want is yours for the asking. The cat thought for a minute and then said, All my life I lived on a farm and slept on hard wooden floors. I would like a really fluffy pillow to sleep on. God said, Say no more. Instantly the cat had a huge fluffy pillow. A few days later, six mice were killed in an accident and they all went to Pet Heaven together. God met the mice at the gates with the same offer that He made to the cat. The mice said, Well, we have had to run all of our lives from cats dogs and even people with brooms. If we could just have some little roller skates, we would not have to run again. God answered, It is done. All the mice received beautiful little roller skates. About a week later, God decided to check on the cat. He found her sound asleep on her fluffy pillow. God gently awakened the cat and asked, Is everything OK? Are you happy? Everything is wonderful, the cat replied. I ve never been so happy. The pillow is so fluffy, and those little Meals on Wheels you have been sending over are delicious. Article taken from Dec 1, 2016 Volume 18, Good Stuff. Now hopefully that story made you chuckle. I also hope that when you think about heaven it is with a sense of anticipation and confidence verses being unsure or anxious about it. So in this new year I want to put a challenge before you, some serous thought may have external implications. 1. Do I ever think about heaven? 2. If I were to die tonight or during this calendar year am I assured that I would spend eternity with God in heaven? 3. Am I familiar with the biblical foundation for spending eternity with God? Remember God s greatest joy is to be re-united with you His creation. Begin to plan now for your heavenly promotion. Confidently in Christ, Annual Congregational Meeting Sunday, January 29 at 10:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary

5 PAGE 5 News from the Nursery School by Karen Kohler This article is being written in mid-december so the amazing Erin Wilkinson has time to organize everything into the splendid Supplement we receive the first of each month. But right now, on December 12, the children are exploding with excitement about the upcoming holidays, and we are trying our best to remind them of the true meaning of Christmas. So far, we have seen no snow, but predictions of it loom. But, by the time you read this, it will be January! We turn our thoughts toward ice, snow, and all things winter. Did you know that many of the birds we watched in the Fall are now happily living in Florida? That bears don t hibernate so much in a warm winter (like last year!) And did you know that a town in Pennsylvania once received 60 inches of snow in one storm? Our 3-4 s and Pre-K children will enjoy a Virtual Whale Watch this month with Sue Dunswell as she takes them on a Virtual Whale Watch. Mrs. D is another amazing woman here at Supplee! What fun as everyone leaves the event calling out Thar she blows! We continue building our social skills, our beginning academics and having lots of fun as we come in to share each day with one another! Enrollment for is now open to all, so if you, or any of your friends or neighbors would like more information or a personal tour, please have them call Notes From Breakaway Youth by Evan Lehman This is the final message coming with the header notes from breakaway youth group. The Student Ministry Committee has decided to change the name of the youth ministry beginning in Our new name is going to be Supplee Youth Group. Our choice for the change is coming for several reasons. First and foremost, as we continue to make changes and new developments to the youth ministry we want to respect the past and preserve the memories of Breakaway. The main reason however, is that we want a name that creates unity. Inadvertently, using a different name for youth group was creating a divide. The youth group was separate from the church. We want teenagers to be very much a part of the church. By using different names, we were telling them that they were at Breakaway now and then Supplee later. The name Supplee Youth Group was chosen to create the unity and belonging that our students need with the rest of the church. Our goal moving forward is to emphasize that teenagers are a part of this church here and now. 6 Troop 542 News Movie Making on Our November Campout by Jonathan Li Troop Historian Prayer Shawls Available If anyone would like a prayer shawl to give to someone in need, please contact Toni Hagendorf at PAGE 6 In mid-november, our troop took a trip to Camp Mack near Ephrata, for our annual movie making competition. It took three big lodges to hold all 58 Scouts and 15 leaders. The eight patrols had prepared scripts and props beforehand in order to create the best movie ever in the hope of becoming famous. Saturday morning, patrols went about their business and recorded scenes in different areas of the camp. When it was time for lunch, we ate as quickly as possible to maximize the time we had for the recording and editing processes in the afternoon. When everyone was finished filming, we began to make dinner. Thankfully, we were able to cook under Camp Mack s huge dining pavilion, which shielded us from the sleet and chilly winds outside. For some patrols, editing and rendering the movies continued well into the evening. After dinner, in Blair Lodge, the judges entertained themselves by watching our perfected, cabin-made movies. Meanwhile, some Scouts played board games while others settled in for the night. The next morning, following our interfaith service, the November movie competition results were announced. The Cobras earned third place, and the Lightning's second. But, the prize for the overall best movie, It's Always Sunny In Troop 542, belonged to the Eagles. Also in November, Troop 542 participated in the BSA's Scouting For Food drive. Together we brought in over 4,000 food items which were delivered to the New Life Food Cupboard, The Ambler Community Cupboard, and the Whosoever Gospel Mission. The Eagle Patrol had brought in the most, over 1,000 items, so as a reward the adults cooked, served, and cleaned up their breakfast for them on the November campout. Boy Scout Troop 542 meets at Supplee Church every Monday during the school year at 7:30PM and has fun and exciting outdoor activities every month. Check out our web site or contact Committee Chairman Jay Eibner if you re interested. Boys who have finished 5th grade and are not yet 18 are eligible to join. Deacons' Flower Fund News Sanctuary Flowers The Deacons want to thank all who have provided flowers for our chancel and communion table throughout this year. Your contributions toward this fund allow us to bring color and sunshine into the lives of our sick and shut-in church members, as well as to beautify the sanctuary for our worship services. The flower chart for 2016 is on the bulletin board in the hallway leading out of the narthex. When you would like to donate flowers, please sign next to the date, choosing chancel (listed first) or communion table. There will be only chancel flowers on communion Sundays (the first Sunday of the month). At the same time, please pick up a flower envelope (at the bottom of the chart) and fill it out. When doing so, be sure to check whether or not you will take the flowers and also include your dedication information. The cost of chancel flowers is $40; a communion table arrangement is $20. Please make your check payable to "Supplee Church." Do you like to scrapbook? Would you like to learn? A scrapbook day will be held at Supplee Church in Fellowship Hall on Saturday, February 4 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There is no charge for this event and is open to our Church family and friends. So if you have a friend that does scrapbooking, bring them along. Come share ideas. Tools will be on hand for you to borrow. (e.g. paper cutters, punches a Cricut and cartridges). Bring your own paper and embellishments. Join when you can and leave when you choose or bring a lunch and stay all day. Please contact Doris Beck dlb1716@verizon.net (please include Scrapbook in subject line) or (215) or Gayle Martell (215) to reserve your spot or if you have any questions.

Community Cupboard of Ambler Men s Bible Study Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. All men are invited! Come and explore God's Word. We are currently meeting in the parlor. The Deacons of Supplee are collecting food for the Community Cupboard of Ambler and you can help. Please check their website for a wish list of their current needs. Please put your donations on the Deacon s shelf near the parlor or donations can be dropped off Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at Ambler Community Cupboard, 150 N. Main Street, Ambler. Card Care Connection Each month we select members to receive greetings from the Supplee Church family. These are people who are temporarily unable or no longer able to attend church. This is an opportunity for us to let them know we think of them and miss their fellowship. You do not have to know the person to send them greetings. Please send a card, sign your name, and Supplee Church. This is a wonderful way to remind them that God cares and so do we.
