2 Page 2 April 2015 P A S TO R S PEN Time? What Time? Hey, What Time is it? Ecclesiastes 3 is a familiar passage about time. There is a time for everything,and a season for every activity under the heavens:a time to be born and a time to die,a time to plant and a time to uproot,a time to kill and a time to heal,a time to tear down and a time to build,a time to weep and a time to laugh,a time to mourn and a time to dance,a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,a time to search and a time to give up,a time to keep and a time to throw away,a time to tear and a time to mend,a time to be silent and a time to speak,a time to love and a time to hate,a time for war and a time for peace. I am sure we all know what time and season we are in now: springtime! And, oh, isn t there so much to do. We look outside and see what winter time has left us that must be cleaned up before mowing time gets here. There are leaves to clean up, fertilizer to apply to our lawns, and some muddy messes from the spring time thaw. Often ladies look at their house and realize it is spring house clean up time. Many of us are at the age we realize we must make time for our parents needs in the same areas. It will soon be graduation time and there is so much to be done in that area. How in the world will we get everything done? Too bad we can t just Call Mr. Quick; dial the number spell the word, for on time. So, God, it is spring time ; what do you have that needs done? Now really God, you don t expect us to get everything done we have to do and make time for you also do you? I can remember as a youth, our church always had spring clean up day at the church. The cabinets in the kitchen would all get emptied, washed out, the dishes washed and all put away. The hardwood floors in the sanctuary would all be scrubbed and Bruce Wax applied; by hand on our knees. The windows would all be washed, even the stained glass windows. All the pews would be polished with pledge; no padding back then. All the leaves would be raked up, needed lawn patching done, sidewalks swept off etc, etc, etc. Did I fail to mention all in one day? We didn t have more time then, we made time then. There always were and always will be 24 hours in a day. We accomplish whatever we make time for. It comes back to that nasty disgusting 10 letter word: priorities. What does God have need of you to do with your time this spring? A pastor friend of mine had a parishioner say to him at spring time : I ll be back in the fall. Seems like they had a different calendar and different clock; no God time. Look around, perhaps you have a neighbor that needs help with washing their windows, a tree limb down, a rut in the yard from missing the drive way, shingles in need of repair from winter winds. Can you imagine the joy on someone s face when they might look outside and realize they don t have to wonder who to call to get something done, its done. Do you see things that need done at God s meeting house wherever you worship? There is no time to waste; just time to serve. I doubt if your neighbor would refuse your help. I am sure that God would not also. Eccl 3:14 I know that all God does will last forever; there is no adding to it or taking from it. God works so that people will be in awe of Him. 4 Page 4 April 2015 Women s Fellowship-March 4th, 2015 Submitted by Secretary Brenda Johns We were glad to be back together after 2 months of cancellations due to bad weather! President Leisha Hill opened the meeting with prayer. Brenda, Melanie and Jackie Johns brought refreshments. Leisha Hill read devotions What s at the End of Your Rainbow? and explained the meaning behind the 3 leaf clover and the 4 leaf clover. The 3 leaf clover represents the Trinity and the 4 leaf is for Hope, Faith, Love& Luck. Pat Cotner passed cards to be signed for the sick and shut ins and the college students. Leisha passed sign up sheets around for Hostess and 2015 committee volunteers. Since we hadn t been together to put committee s in place yet this year, we asked the past material aid committee if they would be willing to serve again and they agreed. They would like to do something for Ronald McDonald house, either a collection of items or a meal. They will get together and discuss before our next meeting. Roxann White updated us on the funeral meal plan for funeral dinner happening that week. Vicki Criswell gave treasurer report with a March 1 balance of $2, She also read thank you s from the White County Food Pantry, thanking us for the continued support of the women s fellowship and Hickory Grove in general. Women to Women also thanked us for donating our November Thank Offering to them last year. Nominating committee reported that all prior officers had agreed to continue. Gloria Heber mentioned that she was not asked to serve as Vice President again, an oversite of the nominating committee. We remedied that by asking her and she accepted. Roxann White announced that the Haiti group that Rachelle is going to Haiti with this week, is very appreciative of the monetary donations and all the goods donated for their trip. Mary Black won the door prize for this month, which was fitting as she was a first time attendee and we enjoyed having her there with us. Some prayer concerns were mentioned and Trina Smith closed the meeting with prayer. Golden Agers Submitted by Sherry Hantshel March 4, 2015 found six Golden Agers at the USA Family Restaurant for their monthly meeting. We welcomed Jonah Peterson back from his yearly visit to California. Gary Reedy asked the blessing. Our meeting place has now been moved to Cindi Anderson's house. Cindi has very generously offered for us to meet and have lunch at her house at 11:30 a.m. on the first Wednesday of the month.please inform Sherry if you DO or DO NOT plan on attending by the first Monday of the month.
