1 Information for Completing the Application for Advanced Standing: Internship Advanced Standing Policy A student may apply for advanced standing to waive the requirements for the following Internship courses by providing evidence of ministry experience appropriate to an Internship. Only students enrolled in the MDiv or MA degree programs are eligible for advanced standing for Field Education requirements. Advanced standing for Internship will replace all or part of any xx591 Internship course. Qualifications include: 1. Ministry experience must have taken place no longer than 6 years before matriculation. 2. Advanced standing is granted by credit hour. That is, a student s past experience may not be sufficient to offer 2 credit hours of advanced standing for an internship, but it may be sufficient for 1 credit hour. The student will then need to complete an internship for the other hour of credit. 3. This Application for Advanced Standing must be submitted subsequent to admission, but no later than two semesters prior to one s anticipated graduation. 4. There is a $35 administration fee per application, payable by credit card, check or money order. 5. Ministry experience for advanced standing must largely be in the area of concentration of the chosen degree program, and preferably in the specific area of ministry planned for after graduation. 6. If the student changes his/her degree program or concentration partway through his/her seminary career, the advanced standing waiver may be re-evaluated. 7. A personal interview may be required. 8. Internship credit hours received through advanced standing will not be applied toward required elective hours.

Attach a separate page providing the following information to support your application: a. The type of ministry that you plan upon graduation. b. Describe your current and previous ministry experience. If your ministry experience has taken place at more than one site or has involved more than one set of duties (e.g. youth pastor and senior pastor), please provide the following information for each role / context. 1) Your title 2) The name and address of the churches/organizations you served 3) The start and end dates for your ministry role 4) List your specific duties, including average hours worked per week. Provide sufficient detail to demonstrate that the requirements of an Internship have been met. 5) Describe any other employment or education you engaged in during your ministry experience. 6) List the name(s) and phone/ of at least one person at each ministry site who observed you over the course of your ministry there. This person should be qualified to provide the Director of Field Education with an evaluation of your ministry. Step 3. Complete and submit the attached Evaluation of Full-time Ministry form with a $35 administrative fee to the Registrar. You may pay by credit, check or money order. Incomplete packets will not be reviewed. You will be notified should a personal interview be necessary.
