The band was organized before 1880 and averaged 15 to 20 members. When the band leader died in 1912, his ensemble was taken over by the American Rolling Mills Company, and became known as the Armco Band. The 7th Regiment Band was formed in 1900, condcted by Brce Tomlinson. For years later, band members began federal service in advent of war. The 7th Regiment and Armco bands held their concerts locally, in McIntire Park and Ptnam Park. By 1923, the two bands had merged, taking the present day name of Zanesville Memorial Concert Band. Today, fnds for the concerts are raised by individal and corporate contribtions. An endowment fnd has also been established for anyone wishing to make a donation towards the ZMCB. The band s crrent home is Zane s Landing Park, along the eastern banks of the Mskingm River in downtown Zanesville. Concerts are performed on five Snday evenings throgh the smmer. Concerts remain free to the pblic, thanks to the generosity of or spporters. 7 CHRISTMAS POP SING-A-LONG Thank Yo to Or Sponsors! 1. Santa Clas is Comin to Town Yo better watch ot, yo better not cry, better not pot, I m telling yo why: Santa Clas is comin to town. He s making a list and checking it twice, gonna find ot who s naghty and nice, Santa Clas is comin to town. He sees yo when yo re sleepin, he knows when yo re awake, he knows if yo ve been bad or good, so be good for goodness sake. Oh! Yo better watch ot, yo better not cry, better not pot, I m telling yo why: Santa Clas is comin to town. 2. Silver Bells City sidewalks, bsy sidewalks, dressed in holiday style. In the air there s a feeling of Christmas Children laghing, people passing, meeting smile after smile, And on ev ry street corner yo hear: Silver bells, silver bells, it s Christmas time in the city. Ring-a-ling, hear them ring, soon it will be Christmas day. 3. Rdolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer Rdolph, the red-nosed reindeer, had a very shiny nose, And if yo ever saw it, yo wold even say it glows. All of the other reindeer, sed to lagh and call him names; They never let poor Rdolph, join in any reindeer games. Then one foggy Christmas Eve, Santa came to say: Rdolph, with yor nose so bright, won t yo gide my sleigh tonight? Then all the reindeer loved him, as they shoted ot with glee: Rdolph, the red-nosed reindeer; yo ll go down in history! 10 7
