4 Message From The K-107 Rector: Chris Duke DeColores my brother and sisters, The K 107 Men s weekend is fast approaching! The K 107 team is ready. Are you? The theme for this weekend is Generosity (in case you didn t know). Generosity is a decision!..you either decide that you are a generous person or you not!... Let me give you another example. Lets say we go out to to lunch or dinner and the waitress is grouchy. She doesn t pay enough attention to your table you have to eat without ketchup or mustard because she forgot to bring it you get the idea it just wasn t the type of service you had hoped for. When you get the end of the meal and she brings the bill over to the table how do you treat her? You either say I m a generous person and I am going to leave a normal tip because that s who I am not because people do what I want or live up to my expectations. Or you say. no tip for you and reinforce for her that her day just got that much worse. We don t know what kind of day she had or what is going on in her life that may be distracting her but a generous person would not allow the act of leaving or not leaving a tip be their revenge. Your act of generosity might be exactly what she needs to get her through the day..even if she doesn t deserve it. But you have to decide in advance that you are a generous person regardless of the circumstances. If you are not a generous person then you will always be able to find a reason or rationalization to say see that s why I don t have to be generous. Now in this example I have used a waitress.. but this could easily be your spouse or your children or someone at work and because they didn t perform up to your expectations they are not the recipient of your generosity. And the circle continues. Serving is a form of generosity! We hope to see you on September 22, 23 and 24 th. PAGE 4
5 MARCH 2017 MESSAGE FROM THE RECTOR OF K-108 Kim Hornyak WOW, doesn t even begin to describe last week s K-108 discernment. At this time we have a full team and all have been discerned with their roles for the upcoming weekend. We shared, cried, laughed, prayed and sang with one another. It is Koinonia, so of course we ate as well. The women on the K-108 team might not have had an immediate bond, as we have women from as early as K-8 to as new as K-104 on the team, but by the end of discernment, you could see the threads weaving between them. I never imagined when I first decided on a theme and a scripture for the upcoming weekend, how much it would describe the team of K-108. They are definitely strong and courageous women of God, ready to fulfill his purpose for them. Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. God is prepping us for a mighty powerful weekend. Our next meeting is September 16 th, where we will listen to the professors as they give their initial talks. Many times people have declined to make a weekend because of the $75.00 cost of the weekend, even though sponsors have been willing to "pay it forward. This is an "Obstacle of Grace" that we as Koinonians MUST abolish. We as a Community can do this by becoming a Fourth Day Partner. We are looking for 100 Koinonians that will pledge $10 a month to support this fund. Your name will be listed as a Fourth Day Partner, along with giving it in memory of or honor of a person of your choice. Your donation can also be given anonymously. We currently have 25 partners. To become a Fourth Day Partner, simply go to the website and click on the link to The Fourth Day Fund and download the information. You can even use your Paypal account.
