2 Page 2 Through Zion s Window December 2018 November 11, 2018 Council Minutes Meeting was brought to order by President Jerry Liesener at 10:15 am. Devotions were led by Jeanine Heinrich. Devotions for the next month s meeting will be led by Doreen Schultz. A motion was made by Christine, seconded by Franklin Wolter, to approve the October secretary s report as printed, motion carried. Carrie Wendorf reviewed the Treasurer s report. John Siedschlag motioned to accept the treasurer s report as presented subject to audit, seconded by Jeanine. All in favor, motion carried. Zion Ministry Reports Parish Ed Christmas Program will be on Sunday, December 16 th at 8:45 am. Evangelism Artisan Vendor sale was held yesterday, we had a lower turnout than last year. Decorating for Christmas will be after worship on November 25 th. Missions Giving tree is set up in the Narthex, all gifts will be given to Shorehaven residents in Oconomowoc. Unwrapped gifts should be returned, with the tags attached, by December 9 th. Oktoberfest profits were around $3,000. Stewardship remember to turn in your updated time and talent sheets. Building & Grounds Lights in the worship and altar area have new bulbs and have been cleaned, thanks to Franklin, John and Gary Gregory. A replacement sign in the lower parking lot area will be installed in the next few weeks. Brinkman Landscaping will be snow plowing the church parking lots again this year. Worship Planning joint worship services with Holy Name for Thanksgiving at 8:45 am, Christmas Eve at 4:00 pm and Christmas Day at 8:45 am. Old Business The cabinet in the narthex was built and donated by a member of Holy Name, Dean Lopnow owner of D&D Millwork. Electrical and a refrigerator will complete the installation. New Business St. Olaf is collecting monetary donations for families in the area that need assistance for their children s Christmas gifts. Motion by Chris, seconded by Jerry to give $ to St. Olaf s for the families. Council open positions for 2019 will be Worship, Building and Grounds and Missions. Talk with any council member if you are interested in any of the positions. Budget for 2019 was discussed. Carrie is currently working on it. Special congregation meeting will be held on November 18 th after worship to discuss replacement carpeting throughout the church. The council will be serving a Christmas meal at the Ashippun apartments on December 9 th. Next Council meeting will be on December 9th. 5 Zion Artisan and Vendor Sale On November 10, the fellowship hall was filled with artisans and vendors selling their fantastic goods. The Bistro Café lunch was again a huge hit with homemade soup, salad and sandwich. Many thanks to those who came to the event to shop, have a relaxing lunch, purchase raffles tickets and take home delicious baked goods. Funds from the artisan/vendor sale will be used to purchase water filters for Haiti. Church Decorating Sunday, November 25 following worship. Looking for at least one ladder person to help get the decorating supplies down from the storage shelves in the basement Pick a task you enjoy, decorate any part of the church, Narthex, entry, etc. We re usually done in less than 2 hours when everyone helps Saints in Light Thank you for lighting the tree in remembrance and honoring the special people your life. Keep the love lights glowing throughout the season and into next year. December 2 Sunday, December 16 8:45 a.m. The program will take place at the regular 8:45 service, followed by a reception in the Narthex. It s a time when we have guests and extended family join us for worship. Please bring food or beverage to share. In the past, there have been hot and cold hors d oeuvers, fruit, cheese, sweets, juice, etc. It has always been quite a festive occasion! Doreen Schultz Evangelism Committee
