1 Volume 23 Issue 212 June/July 2018 ITALIAN AMERICAN CLUB of JACKSONVILLE Greetings Members, President s Message I hope this finds everyone doing well. There have been more and exciting things happening since our last newsletter. As you will see when you visit the club we have finally put a new roof on and are getting ready to repaint the building. Several of our members have been working hard to clean up and trim back our overgrown bushes and scrubs. My thanks goes out to them as should yours. Our membership drive is going well and we will announce the winners after the June 14th deadline. We are now selling Polo and T-Shirts with our logo on them. Please see Sandy Smith to order yours. These must be paid for in advance prior to us placing the order. These also help support our club as well as advertise it. I would love to see us sporting these items during Festa as well as other events we attend. I ask that you get with Gina Mielech or myself to ensure that we have your most updated address, phone number and address to make certain you receive the latest updated information. As always you can call the club or myself and we will be happy to keep you informed. I hope to see all of you at our Sunday meeting/dinner on June 10th and please remember to RSVP by the deadline. We will be voting on our updated by-law changes. Our next Town Hall meeting is Wednesday, June 7pm and we will be serving coffee and dessert. Thank you again for allowing me to be your president and may God Bless. OFFICERS Jim Ranieri President Vinny Zammataro Vice President Vinny Ficarrotta Treasurer Gina Mielech Asst. I was very active with UNICO of Scranton, which is a service organization to promote Italian heritage and community charity work. We couldn't find good pizza, Italian food, etc. I couldn t find good Italian meats. I was having my hair done and my hairdresser recommended the Italian American Club of Jacksonville. She is not a member but one of her clients is and she always talked about the fun and friendship. I did apply and so did my husband, even though he is not Italian. I did become very involved and met some very friendly members who welcomed us with open arms. Over the past 2 years my husband and I have had some medical problems and we could not be as active as we wanted to be in the Club. Hopefully, this is coming to an end shortly and we can become more involved again. The Club has been welcoming and understanding and played a great part in our assimilating into the community. I am sure many members do not know us, and those who do probably do not know the impact their friendship has made in our lives, because a smile or just welcoming us at their table were an impact on our lives. I could never mention all the members who helped us adjust, for fear of leaving someone out. Thank you all.
