3 May, President's Corner -- Bonnie Andrade Arland will be undergoing medical procedures for the next few months. His attention to Shop Foreman duties will be reduced. We will see how badly this impacts us during shop relocation. We may ask for a volunteer to take over these responsibilities. We need items to display in our Club's display case at the Alameda County Fair. The Fair is in June. Over the past few years, Mineral & Gem exhibits (all clubs have been dwindling. After our Annual Show, this is probably the most important source for new memberships. It's also an excellent, satisfying venue to display your work. Please, help keep interest in Minerals & Gems alive. Display some of your work in our case at the Alameda County Fair. To all of the movers and shakers who helped pack up and move out of the YMCA building: We called; ~ came. extend a most sincere Thank you! on behalf of the entire club. By the time you receive this, we will already be moving into a new shop. We may need someone to help draw floor plans or do many of the other tasks that will be required to get the new place into working order. Please call the Rock Shoppe ( , Arland ( or Willy, if you can to help. Also, if you have any ideas to share about getting and using grant money, please contact Walt Klas at or to waltnell@jps.net. I hope you all had a happy Easter. SHOP ACTIVITIES: New shop opening soon! -- Karl Churchill Arland says that our shop is relocating to 20948A Corsair, Hayward. The street is off of Winton (beyond Clawiter, a stone's throw from the Hayward Airport. "Follow signs for the delicatessen." The keys were picked up even as this Petrograph was ready for press. Significant electrical work will be required in order to support all of our equipment. So, contact Arland to get on a moving party; but don't expect to plug in the sphere machine and just start grinding away once you get it set up ( Larry! ;- Hours and Activities for the new shop will be printed in a subsequent Petrograph. General Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month at Centennial Hall, Foothill Blvd., Hayward, CA (except July and August. Visitors are always welcome. Our next two meetings are: May 9, 2001, 7:30 PM June 13, 2001, 7:30 PM For Next General Meeting: Members whose last names begin with H through P are asked to bring finger food. Board Meetings: At the Shop May 7,2001,7:30 PM (Location new shop? June 11, 2001, 7:30 PM

With two rooms completely cleaned out, the YMCA may let us stay past the May 1 dead, only for storage, until we can get the third room cleaned out. Arland said that for medical reasons, he may be off the next three or four months. Shop Foreman duties will be shared by Willy. Kochendorfer and Gene Hurn. Field Trip Chair H. E.
