Habitat for Humanity of North Augusta has started building House No. 17 which is expected to be completed before year end. We are now accepting applicants, who qualify, for consideration for House No. 18 which is planned for If you know of any interested applicants, they should get their application completed and submitted as soon as possible. Applications for Habitat Homes are reviewed and evaluated on the basis of a family s need for adequate shelter; the ability of the family to pay its mortgage payments; and the willingness of the family to Our Mission Statement Seeking to put God s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. 2 partner with Habitat for Humanity, by investing sweat equity in the building of their own and other Habitat houses, and in related volunteer work. To qualify, candidates must have lived or worked in the North Augusta community for the past 12 months and must satisfy the following requirements: Homeowner Eligibility Requirements Applicants must have a gross annual household income based on HUD guidelines. $11, to $22, for a family of 2 1 Construction Update As reported in last month s newsletter, the foundation and foundation wall have been completed and all necessary equipment has now been delivered to the site. Mike Bone, Construction Chair, has reported that we will now be back on schedule, if the weather continues to cooperate. We plan to have our first volunteer crew on location on Saturday, February 6. The final prep of the foundation was completed on January 30 as pictured below. The first load of building materials is scheduled for deliver on February 1, $12, to $25, for a family of 3 $13, to $27, for a family of 4 $15, to $30, for a family of 5 $16, to $32, for a family of 6 $17, to $34, for a family of 7 $18, to $36, for a family of 8 Applicants must have rented for the past 6-12 months At least one adult applicant in your family must have legal permanent residency or citizenship in the United States at the time of the application. Applicants must have steady income, fair credit and a minimal level of debt. Applicants and their family must be willing and able to perform sweat equity (amount of hours depends on the family size and could be as high as 500 hours.) Applicants must have not owned or coowned a home in the last 3 years. Newsletter 2
