Habana Avenue, Tampa, Florida ; (813) ; Lodge address From the East My Brothers, This year is now winding down and we will have election of your 2012 officers on Dec 14, I hope everyone will come out and support our Lodge and vote for next year's officers. It will be a very important meeting and will pave the way for next year. There are two more School s of Instruction meetings this year and I ask that you try to make it if at all possible. The 22nd & 23rd Districts have their Masters & Wardens meeting on the fourth Friday of the month. All Master Masons are welcome. If you want to know what is going on in the Hillsborough County Masonic fraternity you should attend one of these meetings. We will not have our 2nd meeting this month because of Thanksgiving James J.T. Blum, P.M. Worshipful Master From the West Welcome to Fall Brothers! It may not feel like it yet but the new season is upon us and your Lodge is in high gear. We have several petitions in the works and one investigation has been made with positive results. We should have new Brothers in the very near future. The Past Masters Dinner is scheduled for November 5 and it will be great to visit with a number of our Past Masters. The official visit by the DDGM to our Lodge went very well and he had great praise for the work of our Lodge. Have a great Thanksgiving, as we have much to be thankful for, most especially our Brotherhood and friendship. Elections are coming up in December. Senior Warden (c) From the South Brothers, As this year begins its' last quarter, please allow me to remind you that we are far from finished. Although we have accomplished quite a bit this year, there is much left to do. Yes, it seems as if we never have enough time to do what needs to be done at our lodge, but we do have a good line of officers who are all looking out for our needs.

3 We have some special functions coming up during this years' last quarter and I would urge all who can to participate in as many functions as your cable-tow will allow. In particular, November 5th will be our annual salute and thank you to our Past Masters (along with their wives) with a marvelous dinner served to them by members of the line of officers. This is always a good time for reminiscing as well as an opportunity to get to know them better. December 14th will give ALL members of our lodge the opportunity to elect next years' line of officers. Please live up to the obligations that you voluntarily took at our altar when you were going through your degrees. Remember: Fellowship - Morality and Brotherly love. Remember also, without participation - - there soon is nothing to participate in. Stuart Graff Junior Warden From the Secretary Brothers, The 2012 dues notices were mailed out in October if you have not received it yet take a look at your dues card, it should say 2011 on it, if it says 2010 then that is why you didn't receive a 2012 card. New cards were not mailed to those who have not paid their 2011 dues. We had three new men petition to become members of John Darling Lodge. Please mark the following date on your calendar, November 9, 2011 it is our stated meeting night and we will be voting on whether or not to suspend 16 Brothers for nonpayment of dues. Remember you voice counts. Looking forward to seeing each of you in Lodge soon. From the Job s Jobies Corner Jobs Daughters meet 1 st & 3 rd Thursday at 7:00 P.M. Hello everyone! Hello everyone! This month the girls and I have been raising money for our trip to Supreme in Maryland by conducting fundraisers like selling candy bars and honey. We are doing quite well. On the 6th we had our Halloween themed Fun Meeting which was a blast! We met some prospective members and played "mummy wrap" and bobbed for apples. On October 8th we served at Olin S. Wright. We are grateful for their generous donations. We also had our Rummage Sale that same day which turned out great. 5 Masonic Education by brother Stuart J. Graff, Junior Warden Early in our Masonic travels we were told that we were seeking admission to a lodge, erected to God and dedicated to the Holy Sts. John. God, we know, for we had to state that we believed in God to be considered for membership. (Note that this belief was later elevated to the point of trust.) Who are these Sts. John? They were considered to be appropriate models for us. We have two days on which we recognize and remember them. The first St. John, the Baptist, is recognized by a special day, June 24th. The other, St. John the Evangelist, or apostle, has been designated a day, December 27th. Why these dates were considered, I do not know. There is one line of thought that credits these dates as being related to the summer and winter solstices, which are on or about June 22nd. and Dec. 22nd. This description will center on John the Baptist. As we turn to our Rule and Guide, we find that John the Baptist is verified by John the Evangelist. In the Gospel of John, 1:6, we find these words: "There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. He came to bear witness of the light that all men through him might believe." So at this point, we find the man and the mission; John was to tell of the Light to come. In Luke 1:5, we find an account which gives the parents of John, Zacharias and Elizabeth, who were both righteous before God. That is, they found favor with God in the performance of their priestly duties. As Zacharias performed his duties, an angel of God told him he would have a son as his prayer had been heard and would be answered. He further stated that his name would be called John. He was also told, "Many shall rejoice. He shall not drink strong wine, and he will make ready a people for the coming Messiah. He would also assume the vows of a Nazirite for life. (This was common but only for short periods of time, three months, six months, etc.) Only three people, according to scripture, took the vows for life; Samuel, Samson and John the Baptist.
