2 Message from the East Hello Brethren Look at the room in this picture. For a moment, I thought Rising Star had made it to the internet. It looks much like our own lodge. It appears that there are beautiful murals just like we have, and their three old gaslight chandeliers are rather like ours too. Very similar, yet unique as well. Just like us! Part of our ritual suggests that we should Be ye all of one mind. I have heard some object to this idea, thinking that we should not all think alike. I don t believe that is what is meant here. I believe that the intention is to have a desire to live in peace with each other, and share the common ideal of Masonry and all it offers us. I know that many are adamant that Masonry is rigid in its beliefs and teachings; that you have to attend study clubs to be properly educated in Masonic principles. That to be a good Mason, you must attend lodge regularly, visit other lodges, go to church each Sunday, be a pillar of the community. They could be right; who am I to argue? But, I believe that while all those things may be good and desirable, we first learned to be a Mason in our heart and maintaining that is the most important thing we can do. If you want to follow Masonic teachings, then be a good man in your heart, all the time. Don t leave it for Sunday church, or when visiting lodge. If you do your best to be your best at all times, you can t go wrong. While I don t think you have to go to lodge to be a good Mason, we do miss you when you aren t here. Why not come out for the annual meeting in December, and see all your brothers again, not to mention our beautiful room? 3 At our annual meeting in December, we will be electing officers for the upcoming year, voting on a new member, potentially reading the application for another, and discussing a goal that will determine the future of our lodge. It is important that you visit and take part in this discussion. At our visitation with the DDGM on 11/26, we had well over 30 brothers in attendance. What a great time to see the sidelines so full! The rainbow girls served us a lasagna dinner, prepared by W Bro Phil Fraser, and they held a fundraising auction. I went home with a deck of cards, a new corkscrew for the wine collection and a Tellys in Epping. What a great, fun evening! Keep an eye on the district calendar for more of the Rainbow dinners and auctions. There should be at least 10 more of them. We will be having a family holiday celebration at Crackskulls book store, downstairs from the lodge, on Saturday 12/21; the Saturday before Christmas, at 2-4 pm. Santa will be in attendance for the kids, and there will be all sorts of goodies and snacks for purchase. Bring your kids, grandkids, family and friends, and help us bring a little holiday cheer to the members and the community. Remember that Santa is there for all the kids, not just ours, so tell your friends! Our officer installation this year will be rather special. We will be meeting at the Flag Hill winery in Lee on the second Wednesday in January, at 7:00 pm. If you have not been to Flag Hill, you need to be there; it is a beautiful facility! The Grand Master will be participating in the installation, and we will have refreshments afterward. Many of our officers are past masters, but we have two to be installed who are not; one taking his first office. Please come down and be with us for the evening!
