1 More than a Meal: Kadima can make your Seder More Fun! 7 th and 8 th graders get involved! Share a mock seder with Kadima and practice some new creative spins on Passover traditions! Why: provide text as background: ח ו ה גּ ד תּ ל ב נך בּ יּוֹם ה הוּא ל אמ ר בּ ע בוּר ז ה ע שׂ ה ה' לי בּ צ אתי מ מּ צ ר י ם : And you shall tell your child on that day, saying: It is because of that which God did for me when I came forth out of Egypt. -Shemot 13:8 Opening induction: Each participant at your seder gets a bunch of candy to start the wondering and questioning. Why do we get candy before dinner? It s a night of questions and you get a reward not for the right answers but for asking good QUESTIONS. Now continue. 2. Offer green candies for the kids
2 Yachatz Maggid Question: After middle matzah is broken, pass around another piece and have everyone break off a bit, explaining what makes them feel less whole We all feel incomplete at times. What makes you feel torn inside? Question - being without: being poor is (fill in the blank) a) Ha Lachma- inviting those who are needyhave each person express who they would want to have at their seder. Or have each person explain what they do during the year to help someone less fortunate (T.O./Gmillut Chassadim b)throw candy at the Kadimaniks who ask good questions. Then, after reciting mah nishtana, have four people ask their own questions about seder night eg. What is your favorite seder food? c)biblical role plays get into character. Have an elder member at the seder table tell their life story -foremothers- pick a quality of the foremothers and share which one you admire g) Unlce Eli s Hagaddah- Dr, Suess Style Pesach h) B chol Dor Vador: To know where you ve been: Memories of our past- have each person in the seder recall a memory of past seders to bring us to the present i) ve hee she amdah: discuss when you had to stand up for yourself- in school, at work j) Dyeinu: What is your own dyeinu - what are you grateful for? k) themes: wandering Arami: Choose 1 to discuss: -assimilation and identity: how do you try and preserve being Jewish in America? If you had to create an identity card, what would you put it on? -Prejudice- have you ever been made to feel badly for being different? What does it feel like to explain being Jewish to others? An extra piece of matzah b) throw candy at people who ask good questions c) Index cards with inanimate items (eg.
