1 L_01579 Pesach Trivia Game By Walder Education Pavilion of Torah Umesorah Director: Mrs. Rouhama Garelick Written by: Sarah Burnstein Designed by Mrs. Adina Gerstein Grade Level: Elementary, Middle School Description: An enjoyable review and assessment for any Pesach curriculum, this game will reinforce the lesson and is customizable for all classrooms. Available as a non-editable PDF only. Goals/Objective: Students will review the Halachos and Minhagim pertaining to Pesach in an enjoyable way. Materials Needed: Game Board (attached in four sizes: 4 x 6 bulletin board; a 22 x 28 poster; a 13 x 19 board game or an 11 x 17 file folder game.) Trivia Cards (attached) Answer Key (attached) Bonus Roll Questions and Answers (attached) 4 Game Pieces (attached) For bulletin board or poster o Sticky Tack (or Velcro Dots) o Library Book Pocket or Envelope For file folder or board games o Game Board Backing (either a file folder or cardboard) o 4 ¼ inch thick foam pieces (purchased from the dollar store) o X-Acto Knife 1 Die Scissors Liquid Glue Cardstock Instructions: Assembly: 1. Print game board of the size desire 2. Print game pieces and trivia cards on 8.5 x 11 cardstock and cut out.
2 L_ Review the provided trivia questions, and create some questions of your own to match the material in your curriculum. 4. Laminate the game board, game pieces and trivia cards. (Note: For a file folder game, attach the game board and cover to the file folder with glue before laminating.) For bulletin board or poster 1. Attach the library pocket or envelope to the game board with glue. 2. Attach sticky tack to the back of each game piece. For file folder or board games 1. Using the X-Acto knife, cut a small slit in the center of the foam piece. 2. Dip the bottom of the game piece into the glue and slide into the slit. 3. Attach game board backing to the game board with glue. Instructions for Play: Option 1: For Bulletin Board or Poster 1. Shuffle the trivia cards and place in the library pocket or envelope on the game boar 2. Divide the class into 4 teams. 3. Assign each team a game piece. 4. Have each team roll the die to see who goes first. 5. One member of the first team picks a trivia car 6. The card is read aloud either by the student or the teacher. 7. If the team answers the question correctly, they roll the die and move ahead that number of spaces. If the incorrect answer is given, then the team remains on their current space, and the same question is posed to the next team. 8. The first team to reach the finish space wins. 9. Bonus Roll Questions: If a team chooses a card with the bonus roll logo, they have the opportunity to answer an additional question and earn an additional roll. The bonus roll questions are not multiple choice and focus on students recall of the material. Variation: For individual testing of students, instead of asking the team to answer the question together, ask one student on the team to answer the question. If he answers correctly, he rolls the die and the team moves the full amount of spaces forwar If he has to ask the rest of his team for help, then he moves ahead only half the number of space, rounding up if there is an odd number. Option 2: For File Folder Game or Board Game 1. Print out enough game boards, trivia card sets, answer keys and game pieces so that you have a game board, a trivia card set, and an answer key for each group of four students and a Game Piece for each student.
3 L_ Divide the class into groups of 4 students and distribute a game set to each group. 3. Have each student in the group roll the die to see who goes first. Play continues to the left 4. The first student picks a trivia car 5. The player on his right holds the answer key. This student will determine if the question was answered correctly by matching the number on the trivia card to the answer key. 6. The card is read alou If the student answers the question correctly, he or she may roll the die and move ahead the correct number of spaces. 7. If the incorrect answer is given, then the student remains on the current space. The correct answer to the question is announced by the student holding the answer key, and play continues. 8.
