1 Sharyn Blaustein Volume 24 Principal Issue 2 September 15, Elul, 5777 Rabbi Yamin Levy LIHA Rabbi THE VOICE OF OUR CHILDREN A WEEKLY PUBLICATION Please visit our website for the FULL newsletter in color! Shalom My Dear Parents and Students, Message from Rabbi Yamin Levy LIHA, Rabbi The excitement is in the air. The children are ready for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. The sounds in the halls of LIHA are the sounds of learning and joy. A special thank you to our entire staff for the amazing work they are doing and for getting the school-year off to a great start. A special thank you to Mrs. Shabatian for all the work she put in before school started she did it voluntarily. The school looks great. I am especially proud of our double Toddler program. According to our calendar this is the time for introspection, self-evaluation and self-examination. This is the time to take a moral inventory of our lives. The big question is who am I? or who do I want to be? If this sounds too difficult don t be frightened the goal is actually much more modest. If we can see the gulf between who we could be and what we are now between our potential and our achievements then I believe we have begun the process that Rosh Hashanah calls upon us to perform. If we awaken within us the desire to achieve more we are assured divine help. Our Chachamim teach If you open your heart even slightly as a needle s eye Hashem will open it as wide as the gateways of the Temple. This season summons us, my dear friends, not only to return to Hashem but also to return to one another. Together we journey into a new year filled with possibilities and promise. Shanah Tova U Metuka A Happy and Sweet New Year. Rabbi Yamin Levy Parashat Nitzavim-Vayelech Shabbat Candle Lighting time is at 6:49 p.m. Havdalah time is at 7:52 p.m.
