TEACHING APPROACH THE KEY STRATEGIES OF TEACHING The following are the key strategies of the Q School teaching method. The curriculum is based on Ayatul Birr drawing knowledge from the key strategies.
AYATUL BIRR
KEY STRATEGIES Q BELIEFS Aq aid is the plural of Aqeeda which means belief. The belief in the five roots of Islam. A 99 Whatever little information the human being can get about Allah can only be acquired through His names. These qualities and Names are therefore an infrastructure for human behavior. QUR AN CITY With 114 buildings, Qur an CIty is a teaching methodology which allows an overview of the study of the Qur an. derstanding the key concept of each sura. Q LAWS Fiqh means a deep understanding or full comprehension and it is in essence the expansion of Shari a (divine laws which illuminate the way) to reach one s full potential. Q PROPHETS Prophets mentioned in Qur an and ahadith. M 14 Ma sum (pl. Ma sumeen) means the sinless or infallibles ones. When the Prophet (pbuh) recited the aya 33:33 he said: Thus Me and my Ahlulbayt are clear from sins. AWESOME PEOPLE Those who followed the example of the Prophet (pbuh.awesome Women, Companions & Scholars Q LIFE The laws of Islam affect all aspects of life, from childbirth through to Parenting, education, relationships and death. Islam provides scripts for all these life events
KEY STRATEGIES INTERFAITH DIALOGUE Interaction about the concept of Divinity. Q CALENDAR From Muharram through the month of Ramadhan to Dhulhijja; commemorations of Calendar events are the touchstones of Muslim life. The rituals evoke both history and theology engendering joy, sorrow and introspection. Q KIDS A variety of resources whichl help children explore the wonders of Divinity and learn about Islam in a fun way. Q DUA Prayer in Islam is the foundation of communication with God forming a pivotal part of Muslim life used to sanctify everything from eating a meal to sighting the moon. Q ETHICS To be a good Muslims means to act ethically towards oneself, family, friends, neighbours, colleagues and strangers. Q PILGRIMAGE Ziyara (Commonly referred to as, Ziyarat) is a pilgrimage to sites associated with the Prophet (pbuh) and his progeny, their companions and Islamic scholars. Ziyara can also refer to sending salutations to them from afar.
A TYPICAL Q SCHOOL DAY Assembly: Starts with knowing the current Islamic day and times of salaa on the day, followed by a short discussion on current affairs and relevant calendar event commemorated during that week. Qur an Recitation: Classes are ability based. Qur an Appreciation: Focuses on the Qur an City methodology of learning Qur an. Cross curricular: The focus of the day where all the areas of the curriculum are integrated and connected within a theme. The themes become the critical thinking binder that unifies seemingly unrelated information. Salaa: Zhuhrayn Salaa is a lesson on its own where salaa is prayed in jamaa a for the older classes and as a class for the younger ones.
QUR AN RECITATION
Q READ PROGRESSION
FAMILIARISATION OF SUWER NAMES Link system memorisation Transform data into an image form and create associations. To remember any number of things in sequence, a vivid metal picture story called a MNEMONIC assists memorisation. Focus points are used to hook the story.

QUR AN CITY The Qur an encourages investment in real estate in Janna. It is with this encouragement that we decided to teach the structure of the Qur an through building a city with bricks. The word sur means an enclosure also referring to the defensive wall built around a city.

QUR AN CITY With 114 buildings, Qur an City is divided into 14 quadrants which circle Muhammad City Centre and has a road network called M14* that links all the quadrants with each other. *Representing the 14 Ma sumeen who are the necessary guidance to navigate Qur an City. The placement of the buildings in the quadrants are based on the names and/or opening of the suwer. 1. BOOK CLOSE 2. HAAMIDAAT PLACE 3. MUSABBIHAAT PLACE 4. To announce his Imama. 2. To bring the community together. 3. Guidance.

Discuss how whatever one wants to be; the mot important aspect will be one's character. Talk about Imam Sajjad (pbuh) and the Aimma as one of our role models. How we could incorporate Community Cohesion through majlis and dua. 30 mins ACTIVITY SUGGESTION With the heading " I would like to be like Imam Sajjad because..." Write down as many things possible about him. HALLOWEEN (Holy Evening) Discuss the 31st of October which in this country is Halloween. It is thought to have originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off roaming ghosts. In the eighth century, Pope Gregory III designated November 1 as a time to honour all saints and martyrs; the holiday, All Saints Day, incorporated some of the traditions of Samhain. The evening before was known as All Hallows Eve and later Halloween. Discussion on religion vs tradition and honouring of saints and martyrs as we do in our calendar events.
