1 (ذكرى الدار اآلخرة ( Abde Remembrance f the Last Sunday Evening Series Class #1 Date: 01 July 2018 / 17 Shawwal 1439 Intrductin: Surah Al Ahzaab 41-43: يا أي ها ال ذ ي ن آمن وا اذ ك ر وا للا ذ ك ر ا كث ير ا O yu wh believe! Remember Allah with much remembrance. و سب ح وه ب ك ر ة و أص ي ل And glrify His Praises mrning and afternn [the early mrning (Fajr) and 'Asr prayers]. ه و ال ذ ي ي صل ي علي ك م و مل ئ كت ه ل ي خ ر ج ك م م ن الظ ل ما ت إ لى الن و ر و كان ب ال م ؤ م ن ي ن رح يم ا He it is Wh sends Salat (His blessings) n yu, and His angels t (ask Allah t bless and frgive yu), that He may bring yu ut frm darkness (f disbelief and plytheism) int light (f Belief and Islamic Mntheism). And He is Ever Mst Merciful t the believers. Allah (جل جلاله) is addressing the believers t remember Him much and glrify His praises mrning and evening, what is the reward? He will send salat upn yu and the angels will pray fr yu, as a result He will take yu ut frm the darkness f disbelief and ignrance t the light f belief and knwledge. Allah (جل جلاله) is Mst Merciful t the believers and this is what we hpe t attain. What des it mean Allah (جل جلاله) will send salat upn yu? He will praise yu highly in frnt f the angels. Dhikr has many frms and ne f its frms is attending the study circles. It s imprtant that we dn t cme t the study circles fr scializing r business matters. By Allah s grace and favr upn us, He made it easy fr us t fast the mnth f Ramadan and pray its nights. It s all by Allah s help we were able t d gd deeds and t Him is all praise in the beginning and the end, alhamdulilah. When Allah (جل جلاله) grant us t cme ut f Ramadan having mre faith and taqwa then we need t be cncerned t maintaining and strengthening it. Wh can help us? Only Allah firm. can help us and bring the causes t keep ur faith steady and (جل جلاله) Smene might say if all the guidance and firmness is in Allah s Hands then it s meant fr me then He will it fr me. Is this a crrect way f thinking? N. When we knw all matters are in Allah s Hands then we need t ask Him because it s in His Hands. When we ask Him then He will pen the means. May Allah (جل جلاله) keep us firm and increase us in faith. Ameen. There are many means fr keeping a persn firm after Ramadhan, amng them are: Accmpanying righteus cmpanins 1 P a g e

2 Remembering Allah (جل جلاله) much Acquiring knwledge Remembering the last abde: we hpe this curse will be a means fr us t keep us firm and fr ur faith t be strengthened. Sending the Messengers and Prphets: Out f Allah s mercy, He sent messengers t His creatin because He lves His creatin and fr them t be guided. One f the purpse f sending the messengers is t fllw their example and when we d that then we will reach His pleasure and paradise. Purpse behind remembering the prphets and messengers: By remembering the prphets and messengers, it s in praising the One Wh sent them.(جل جلاله) Allah By remembering the prphets and messengers, it s a recmpense fr what they did frm their wrship f Allah,(جل جلاله) their dawah t the peple and their patience upn them. And this emphasizes their merit and virtues. By remembering the prphets and messengers is an encuragement fr us t lve, fllw and hnr them. Surah Saad 45-47: و اذ ك ر ع بادنا إ ب ر اه ي م و إ س حا ق و يع ق و ب أ ول ي ا ل ي د ي و ا ل ب صا ر And remember Our slaves, Ibrahim (Abraham), Ishaq (Isaac), and Ya'qub (Jacb), (all) wners f strength (in wrshipping Us) and (als) f religius understanding. إ ن ا أخ لص ناه م ب خ ال صة ذ ك رى الد ا ر Verily, We did chse them by granting them the remembrance f the Hme [in the Hereafter and they used t make the peple remember it, and als they used t invite the peple t bey Allah and t d gd deeds fr the Hereafter]. و إ ن ه م ع ندنا لم ن ال م ص طفي ن ا ل خ يا ر And they are with Us, verily, f the chsen and the best!.(عليه السالم) and Yaqub,(عليه السالم) Is haaq,(عليه السالم) Here we have t remember Ibrahim We have t remember they had strength in perfrming gd deeds and they had strength in understanding the religin; they had insight. S what s required frm us frm this ayah? Perfrm abundant gd deeds and acquire beneficial knwledge. What else des Allah (جل جلاله) characterize them? He chse them t remember the last abde, subhan Allah. The schlars said this means: Allah (جل جلاله) made the remembrance f the akhira t prevail in their hearts. It means the hereafter is always in frnt f their eyes. This made them t strive hard t perfrm gd deeds and wrk fr that Day. 2 P a g e

3 ,(جل جلاله) This shws their ikhlas and sincerity in their deeds. They were watchful f Allah is Allah (جل جلاله) pleased with me in this situatin?. Anther interpretatin is: they were reminding the peple f the last abde and t wrk fr it. Anther interpretatin: Allah (جل جلاله) remved the lve f the duniya frm their hearts and exchanged it with the lve f the akhira, subhan Allah. They are nt cncerned with the duniya. They were calling the peple t lve, hnr and fear Allah ;(جل جلاله) they were nt calling the ق ل ه ذ ه سب يل ي أد ع و إ لى للا على بص يرة أنا و م ن ات بعن ي و س ب ح ان للا ( :108 peple t themselves. Surah Yusuf (i.e. "This is my way; I invite unt Allah :(صلى للا عليه و سلم (Say O) Muhammad ) و ما أنا م ن ال م ش ر ك ي ن t the Oneness f Allah - Islamic Mntheism) with sure knwledge, I and whsever fllws me (als must invite thers t Allah i.e. t the Oneness f Allah - Islamic Mntheism with sure knwledge). And Glrified and Exalted be Allah (abve all that they assciate as partners with Him). And I am nt f the Mushrikun (plytheists, pagans, idlaters and disbelievers in the Oneness f Allah; thse wh wrship thers alng with Allah r set up rivals r partners t Allah).") What shuld be ur attitude? When we d any deed, we have t put the akhira in frnt f ur eyes. Whever des this then his life and heart will be refrmed. He will be upright and he will g straight n the Path until he reaches Allah.(جل جلاله) We need t remind urselves and the peple f the last abde. This curse will be divided in tw parts: Hw d we live in this life s that ur end is praisewrthy (paradise). We ask Allah favr. f His (جل جلاله) And if there is time, the descriptin f paradise Hw d we live in this life s that ur end is praisewrthy? Surah Al Hashr :18 ( أي ها ال ذ ي ن آمن وا ات ق وا للا و ل تنظ ر نف س م ا قد م ت ل غد و ات ق وا للا إ ن للا خ ب ير ب ما تع مل و ن (يا O) yu wh believe! Fear Allah and keep yur duty t Him. And let every persn lk t what he has sent frth fr the mrrw, and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is All-Aware f what yu d.) is addressing the believers and whenever this address appears (جل جلاله) Allah :(يا أي ها ال ذ ي ن آمن وا ( then we need t listen carefully because either it will be a cmmand r prhibitin frm Allah.(جل جلاله) What is the cmmand? This means if we have really believed then ur belief.(جل جلاله) have taqwa f Allah :(ات ق وا للا ( necessitates t act n the fllwing cmmands. If we re a believer then ur belief shuld make us t have taqwa f Allah.(جل جلاله) Sheikh As Sa ady may Allah have mercy n him said, Allah (جل جلاله) rders His faithful wrshippers t bey and fear Him in pen and secret. Talq ibn Habib wh is frm the tab ieen said taqwa is: t perfrm the bedience f Allah upn a light frm Allah, hping fr the reward. And t abandn disbedience f Allah upn a light frm Allah, fearing the punishment f Allah. If a persn fulfills the fllwing three elements then he will be cnsidered muttaqee: 3 P a g e

4 Knwledge: light f Allah,(جل جلاله) we need knwledge f His names and attributes, what He likes and dislikes. This knwledge shuld create what? Hpe and fear in ur heart, and this will lead t what? Taking the crrect actin: perfrming bedience and abandning disbedience.(جل جلاله) f Allah mrrw, ): And let every persn lk t what he has sent frth fr the و ل تنظ ر نف س م ا قد م ت ل غد ( and fear Allah again this is mentined,(جل جلاله) ): Have taqwa f Allah و ات ق وا للا ( is all aware (جل جلاله) :( Verily Allah إ ن للا خ ب ير ب ما تع مل و ن ( Surah Al Baqarah : و م ن الن ا س من ي ع ج ب ك قو ل ه ف ي ال حيا ة الد ن يا و ي ش ه د للا عل ى ما ف ي قل ب ه و ه و أل د ال خ صا م,(صلى للا عليه وسلم And f mankind there is he whse speech may please yu (O Muhammad in this wrldly life, and he calls Allah t witness as t that which is in his heart, yet he is the mst quarrelsme f the ppnents. و إ ذا تو ل ى سع ى ف ي ا ل ر ض ل ي ف س د ف يها و ي هل ك ال ح ر ث و الن س ل و للا ل ي ح ب ال فسا د And when he turns away (frm yu "O Muhammad " للا عليه وسلم,("صلى his effrt in the land is t make mischief therein and t destry the crps and the cattle, and Allah likes nt mischief. م فح س ب ه جهن م و لب ئ س ال م ها د و إ ذا ق يل ل ه ات ق للا أخذت ه ال ع ز ة ب ا ل ث And when it is said t him, "Fear Allah", he is led by arrgance t (mre) crime. S enugh fr him is Hell, and wrst indeed is that place t rest! There are peple wh dn t have taqwa such as the hypcrites. There are thse whse speech yu admire and it pleases yu. They either talk abut the duniya r they talk abut the deen and say I lve knwledge, I lve Islam, I lve the Quran. But when any dispute happens, he s the mst wicked in quarreling. He will alter and change the truth. He desn t care if he lies r desn t say the truth as lng as he s the winner in the quarrel. And when they turn away, they cause fitna and crruptin in the land. When wickedness is prevalent, Allah (جل جلاله) will prevent the rain t fall which will lead t crps and cattle t die, subhan Allah. His belief is wrng thus his actins are immral and wicked. If smene cmes t advise him t nt d such evil, it s haram, hw will he act? He will be led by arrgance t d mre crime. His eg causes him t feel hw d yu think I shuld be advised, are yu cming t advise me? I am abve this, subhan Allah. Arrgance led him t d mre wrng. This is the attitude f the hypcrite. May Allah (جل جلاله) prtect us. Ameen. The place f taqwa is in the heart and when it s there then it will shw n a persn s limb and tngue. The example in Surah Al Baqarah is smene wh shws he s righteus but there s n taqwa inside. That s why Sheikh As Sa ady said t have taqwa penly and secretly. Fr example, yu might nt like anther and they say salam t yu but yu dn t 4 P a g e

5 want t reply back, then yu remember the Muslims right s yu say salam, thugh yu dn t like it. This shws fear f Allah (جل جلاله) inside and this resulted in actin. When a persn is tld he s dne smething wrng then he shuld listen and bey, nt argue. Examples f hw t practice taqwa: We might g thrugh a situatin where we desire smething thugh we have knwledge it s wrng, but the peple say it s k. The battle is either t fear Allah (جل جلاله) r t fllw ne s desire. A persn is wrking in the finance department and has access t the cmpany s mney. He ges thrugh a persnal financial crisis and urgently needs the mney. Is it taqwa t take the mney and then return it? N, this is nt nly stealing but betraying the trust. He might think, I will return it after I receive my salary, but wh can guarantee he will live the next day. A wman is waiting fr the lift and enters while n ne is there. As she ges up, it stps and a man enters. What s the taqwa? T leave, and she will find when she takes the lift again and a man is abut t enter, he will decide nt t as a recmpense fr her, subhan Allah. Part f lnger hadith: ( يخ ل و ن رج ل ب ام رأة إ ل كا ن ثال ثه ما الش ي طا ن (ل (A man is nt alne with a wman but the third f them is Ash-Shaitan.) - Jami` at-tirmidhi 2165 A wman intends t sell her ld gld and wants t buy new gld. She went t the gld market and the shpkeeper ffered t give her a lwer price fr sme jewelry she fund if she wuld exchange her ld gld. What is the taqwa? T first sell the ld gld, receive the mney fr it, and then buy new gld. Old gld cannt be exchanged fr new gld. ن ه سم ع أبا سع يد ال خ د ر ي رضى للا عنه قال ج ا ء ب لل إ لى الن ب ي صلى للا عليه وسلم ب تم ر بر ن ي فقال ل ه الن ب ي صلى للا ( Hadith: عليه وسلم " م ن أي ن هذا ". قال ب لل كا ن ع ن دنا تم ر رد ي فب ع ت م ن ه صاعي ن ب صاع ل ن ط ع م الن ب ي صلى للا عليه وسلم فقال الن ب ي صلى (Once ( للا عليه وسلم ع ن د ذل ك " أو ه أو ه عي ن الر با عي ن الر با ل تف ع ل و لك ن إ ذا أر د ت أ ن تش تر ي فب ع الت م ر ب بي ع آخ ر ث م اش تر ه ". Bilal brught Barni (i.e. a kind f dates) t the Prphet (ﷺ) and the Prphet (ﷺ) asked him, "Frm where have yu brught these?" Bilal replied, "I had sme inferir type f dates and exchanged tw Sas f it fr ne Sa f Barni dates in rder t give it t the Prphet; t eat." Thereupn the Prphet (ﷺ) said, "Beware! Beware! This is definitely Riba (usury)! This is definitely Riba (Usury)! Dn't d s, but if yu want t buy (a superir kind f dates) sell the inferir dates fr mney and then buy the superir kind f dates with that mney.") - Sahih al-bukhari 2312 A lady is invited t a wedding party that s mixed, but they re relatives and she s afraid f cutting the relatin. And t cut relatins is sinful, s she ges, is this taqwa? N. What is the ( و إ ذا سأل ت م وه ن متاع ا فاس أل وه ن م ن و را ء ح ج اب ذ ل ك م أط ه ر ل ق ل وب ك م و ق ل وب ه ن ( :53 evidence? Surah Al Ahzaab (And when yu ask (his wives) fr anything yu want, ask them frm behind a screen: that عن أب ي ال خي ر ع ن ع ق ب ة ب ن عام ر أ ن رس ول للا صلى ( Hadith: is purer fr yur hearts and fr their hearts.). (`Uqba (" للا عليه وسلم قال " إ ي اك م و الد خ ول على الن سا ء ". فقال رج ل م ن ا لن صا ر يا ر س ول للا أفر أي ت ال حم و قال " ال ح م و ال مو ت b. `Amir reprted Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Beware f getting, int the huses and meeting wmen (in seclusin). A persn frm the Ansar said: Allah's Messenger, what abut husband's brther, whereupn he (ﷺ) said: Husband's brther is like death.) - Sahih 5 P a g e

6 Muslim Als when praying in cngregatin: the best rws fr the men are thse t the frnt and the best fr wmen are thse at the end and the wrst at the frnt. If this is in the prayer, s what abut smething else? Subhan Allah. If we have knwledge, and fear/hpe f Allah,(جل جلاله) then why d we nt behave crrectly? Next week in sha a Allah.
