1 The Essentials fr Every Muslim Fur Weeks Fundatin Curse Day 3 Date: 04 July 2018 / 20 Shawwal 1439 (اإليمان) Week 1: Faith (أركان االسالم ( Islam 1. Pillars f (أركان اإليمان ( Faith 2. Pillars f The main impact frm all the Pillars f Faith is we listen and we bey (أركان االيمان) Pillars f Faith (تؤمن باهلل) 1. Belief in Allah (مالئكته) 2. Belief in His Angels (كتبه) 3. Belief in His Bks (رسله) 4. Belief in His Messengers There is belief in the pillars which is called (مجمل) / cllective. This is t believe in everything whether yu knw everything abut it r nt and (مفصل) / detailed is t believe in the (مجمل) is telling us. Fr example, there is belief in the bks which is (جل جلاله) details which Allah / cllective. This this means we believe in all the bks, whether we knw them r nt. And belief in the bks which is (مفصل) / detailed is t knw the names f the bks, such as the Quran, Tawrat, etc. Number f messengers: We need t believe in all the messengers,(مجمل) even the nes we dn t knw. And there is belief in the messengers which is (مفصل) / detailed, there are و ل ق د ( 78: 25 names f prphets mentined in the Quran, but there are mre. Surah Ghafir (And, indeed We have sent Messengers (أ رس لن ا ر س ال م ن ق بل ك م نه م م ن ق ص صن ا ع ل ي ك و م نه م م ن ل م ن قص ص ع ل ي ك befre yu (O Muhammad هللا عليه وسلم :(صلى f sme f them We have related t yu their stry. And f sme We have nt related t yu their stry) Amng the 25 messengers, there are details mentined abut ne mre than the ther. Fr example many details are mentined abut Musa السالم) (عليه but n details are.(عليه السالم) mentined abut Ilyaas Cnveying the message: We need t believe cllectively that all f the messengers cnveyed the message assigned t them by Allah (جل جلاله) and there s nthing gd which they didn t cmmand the peple and there s nthing bad which they didn t frbid the 1 P a g e

2 peple. Anyne wh believed in them will be successful and anyne wh disbelieved in them will fail. Allah (جل جلاله) favred sme messengers ver thers: this means they were nt all n the same level. Amng the 25 which we knw, there are 5 wh are the messengers f عليه ( Musa,(عليه السالم) Ibrahim,(ﷺ) they are: Mhammed,(أولي العزم من الرسل ( determinatin favred Mhammed (جل جلاله) And amng the five, Allah.(عليه السالم) Nuh,(عليه السالم) Eisa,(السالم messenger. the final,(ﷺ) Difference between prphets and messengers: all f the messengers are prphets, but nt all prphets are messengers, s a prphet is general. The prphets all have news frm Allah. A messenger is mre than a prphet which is t cnvey the message. Sme prphets have the message f the previus messenger. Fr example, there are many prphets between Musa السالم) (عليه and Eisa السالم),(عليه s they are just reviving the message. Abut Mhammed :(ﷺ) he s the best f the prphets and messengers and the seal f all f them, s n ne will cme after him. (اليوم األخر ( Day 5. Belief in the Last The Day f Judgement is the Last Day because after the judgement is paradise and hellfire which is an abde. When we speak f the Last Day, we can t despair and lse hpe. We need fear t abstain frm the sins but anything mre is exaggeratin. The mercy f Allah (جل جلاله) is vast and His wrath is limited. We need t believe cllectively and specifically that the Last Day begins the mment we die until paradise and hellfire. When we die then ur qiyamah has started and belief in paradise and hellfire is included in belief in the Last Day. Thus belief in the Last Day is nt nly paradise and hellfire, but frm the time f death, the grave, and everything leading up t the paradise/hellfire. Statins f the hereafter: Death Grave: questins f the grave, squeeze f the grave, punishment/pleasure f the grave. Day f Judgement: Blwing f the trumpet: with the first blw, all will die except fr whmever Allah wills. With the secnd blwing f trumpet, all suls will be reunited with their bdies. There are peple wh will see the hrrrs f Day f Judgement and sme wh will be granted security, sme will be under the Shade and sme will nt. May Allah Ameen. grant us security n that Day. (جل جلاله) The peple will ask the prphets t begin the Day f Judgment, they will g t the messengers until they reach Mhammed.(ﷺ) He will invke Allah,(جل جلاله) Allah the judgement will begin. There wh will enter paradise with n accunt r trment. May Allah (جل جلاله) make us amng them. Ameen. (Nte: knwing this infrmatin shuld make us act and nt despair. This includes making dua) 2 P a g e

3 Accunt between the peple: Allah (جل جلاله) will ask the messengers first, did yu cnvey the message?. Allah will ask the peple, did he cme t yu?. They will say n. S Allah (جل جلاله) will ask the messenger, they say yu didn t cnvey the message?. Then the Ummah f Mhammed (ﷺ) will bear witness fr the messengers that they cnveyed the message t the peple. That s why yur belief in the pillars f faith is greatly imprtant because yu will bear witness, subhan Allah. Accunt individually: sme accunt will be private and sme will be expsed t all. The believers will be cncealed and the disbelievers and hypcrites will be expsed t all. Imagine yur test paper being marked fr everyne t see. May Allah (جل جلاله) prtect us and nt expse us. Ameen. Bk f recrds will be distributed: sme will receive it with their right hand and sme with their left hand. Scale: all deeds will be weighed, each gd deed and sin has a weight, the heaviest n the scale is ( اله هللا,(ال and alhamdulilah fills the scale, and gd manners are heavy n the scale. And amng the heaviest sins are shirk and kufr, and the heaviest is hypcrisy. May Allah (جل جلاله) prtect us frm hypcrisy. Ameen. We need t accunt urselves befre we re accunted. The first t be eliminated are thse wh are shwing ff with their gd deeds because they used the wrship fr themselves. Then thse wh wrshipped anything besides Allah (جل جلاله) will be thrwn int the hellfire. Then thse apparent Muslims will remain, believers and hypcrites. There will be tw tests: t prstrate when seeing the Shin f Allah, and the hypcrites can t prstrate. And the distributin f lights when crssing the Sirat, the hypcrites light will be put ff and a wall will cme dwn. Faith is light, may Allah (جل جلاله) give us light. Ameen. Crssing the Sirat: it s sharper than a swrd and thinner than a hair. Sins slw dwn a persn and cause him t fall, s it s imprtant t seek frgiveness in this life and d gd deeds t expiate sins. There are thse wh will crss like lighting, rider, running, walking, crawling, scratched, and falling. What causes the scratching and falling? The fitnas. May Allah (جل جلاله) make us crss safely. Ameen. Qantara: settling the scres between the peple, the ne wh s bankrupt is the ne wh backbited thers, wrnged them, didn t give them their rights. It s imprtant t have taqwa when dealing with the peple. A persn can have gd deeds and it s all taken away because f his bad treatment f peple. May Allah Ameen. grant us taqwa. (جل جلاله) Fr thse remaining, they will stand befre the drs f paradise and then it s gates will be pened. After all the intercessins and everyne is in their final abde, the peple f paradise and hellfire will be called and they will see a ram, it will be asked, d yu knw what this is?. They will say it s death and it will be slaughtered. There will be 3 P a g e

4 eternity fr the peple f paradise and eternity fr the peple f hellfire. HOMEWORK: What shuld be ur actins after each statin? Belief in the Last Day is tw degrees: Belief that s affirmed جازم) :(ايمان a persn needs t cnfirm all Allah (جل جلاله) has tld us, any dubt in the Last Day is nt belief. Belief that s deeply rted راسخ) :(ايمان the ne wh s belief is deeply rted will always be reminded f the Day f Judgement. Hw? He sees fd and drink and he remembers n the Day f Judgement nt everyne will have fd and drink. When he s waiting in line, he ll remember there s waiting n the Day إ ن ا أ خل صن اه م ب خ ال ص ة ذ كر ى ( 46: f Judgement. Such a persn is balanced. Surah Saad (Verily, We did chse them by granting them (a gd thing, - i.e.) the (الد ار remembrance f the Hme [in the Hereafter and they used t make the peple remember it, and als they used t invite the peple t bey Allah and t d gd deeds fr the Hereafter].) Details f faith can be fund in the Quran. Surah Az Zumar 71-75: و س يق ال ذ ي ن ك ف ر وا إ ل ى ج ه ن م ز م ر ا ح ت ى إ ذ ا ج اء وه ا ف ت ح ت أ بو اب ه ا و ق ال ل ه م خ ز ن ت ه ا أ ل م ي أت ك م ر س ل م نك م ي تل و ن ع ل يك م آي ا ت ر ب ك م و ي نذ ر ون ك م ل ق اء ي وم ك م ه ذ ا ق ال وا ب ل ى و ل ك ن ح ق ت ك ل م ة الع ذ ا ب ع ل ى الك اف ر ي ن And thse wh disbelieved will be driven t Hell in grups till, when they reach it, the gates theref will be pened (suddenly like a prisn at the arrival f the prisners). And its keepers will say, "Did nt the Messengers cme t yu frm yurselves, reciting t yu the Verses f yur Lrd, and warning yu f the Meeting f this Day f yurs?" They will say: "Yes, but the Wrd f trment has been justified against the disbelievers!" ق يل ادخ ل وا أ بو ا ب ج ه ن م خ ال د ي ن ف يه ا ف ب ئس م ثو ى الم ت ك ب ر ي ن It will be said (t them): "Enter yu the gates f Hell, t abide therein. And (indeed) what an evil abde f the arrgant!" و س يق ال ذ ي ن ات ق وا ر ب ه م إ ل ى الج ن ة ز م ر ا ح ت ى إ ذ ا ج اء وه ا و ف ت ح ت أ بو اب ه ا و ق ال ل ه م خ ز ن ت ه ا س ال م ع ل يك م ط بت م ف ادخ ل وه ا خ ال د ي ن And thse wh kept their duty t their Lrd (Al-Muttaqun ) will be led t Paradise in grups, till, when they reach it, and its gates will be pened (befre their arrival fr their receptin) and its keepers will say: Salamun 'Alaikum (peace be upn yu)! Yu have dne well, s enter here t abide therein." و ق ال وا الح م د هلل ال ذ ي ص د ق ن ا و عد ه و أ ور ث ن ا األ ر ض ن ت ب و أ م ن الج ن ة ح ي ث ن ش ا ء ف ن عم أ ج ر ا لع ام ل ي ن And they will say: "All the praises and thanks be t Allah Wh has fulfilled His Prmise t us and has made us inherit (this) land. We can dwell in Paradise where we will; hw excellent a reward fr the (pius, gd) wrkers!" و ت ر ى الم ال ئ ك ة ح اف ي ن م ن ح و ل الع ر ش ي س ب ح و ن ب ح م د ر ب ه م و ق ض ي ب ين ه م ب الح ق و ق يل الح م د هلل ر ب الع ال م ي ن And yu will see the angels surrunding the Thrne (f Allah) frm all rund, glrifying the praises f their Lrd (Allah). And they (all the creatures) will be judged with truth. And it will 4 P a g e

5 be said, "All the praises and thanks be t Allah, the Lrd f the 'Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists)." What refrms ur behavir? Belief in Allah (جل جلاله) and the Last Day. What shws the و ال ذ ين ( 19: and the Messengers. Surah Al Hadid (جل جلاله) truthfulness f a persn? Belief in Allah (And thse wh believe in (the Oneness f) Allah and His (آم ن وا ب اهلل و ر س ل ه أ ول ئ ك ه م الص د يق و ن Messengers - they are the Siddiqun) Signs f the Day f Judgment: are als inclusive f belief in the Day f Judgement. There are bth majr and minr signs. (القدر خيره شره ( evil 6. Belief in the Decree gd and means already decided :(قضاء) measured and decreed :(قدر) Faith will nt be cmplete withut belief in the decree because we re living in the decree. As if it s the last brick t see if we understand the lessn. Faith is nt nly affirming, but als actins. Where are the actins taking place? In life with decrees. All that s happening is already pre-rdained but we have the will t chse right r wrng, and this includes ur behavir. Types f decrees: Decreed dne upn yu :(عليك) such as falling sick, smene gifts yu, says salam t yu. What shuld yu d if it s gd r bad? Gratitude if it s gd and patience if it s bad. If we fall sick and say it s all because f her then it desn t shw belief in the decree. Decree in yu :(فيك) such as where yu re brn, hw yu lk, wh are yur parents. A persn needs t accept and be grateful if gd and patient if bad. Decree frm yu :(منك) such as yur behavir, gd and bad deeds. Allah (جل جلاله) knws what yu ll d, but yu have a chice. We re respnsible fr anything that cmes ut frm us. Fr example, smene has bad behavir and is ding bad t thers, he will be accuntable. He cannt say I m an angry persn and I shut at everyne. A persn needs t change, hw? Changing the inside first. A persn shuld admit and ask Allah will (جل جلاله) truthfully that he wants t change fr the better. And if he s truthful then Allah (جل جلاله) decree fr him t change, subhan Allah. When smene is sinning, he can t say Allah decreed fr me t sin. Surah Al Layl 5-10: ف أ م ا م ن أ عط ى و ات ق ى As fr him wh gives (in charity) and keeps his duty t Allah and fears Him, و ص د ق ب الح سن ى 5 P a g e

6 And believes in Al-Husna (reward). ف س ن ي س ر ه ل لي سر ى We will make smth fr him the path f ease (gdness). و أ م ا م ن ب خ ل و است غن ى But he wh is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. ب الح سن ى و ك ذ ب And belies Al-Husna (reward) ف س ن ي س ر ه ل لع سر ى We will make smth fr him the path fr evil. :(مراتب القدر) Levels f the decree 1. Knwledge :(علم) all the decrees were already in the knwledge f Allah (جل جلاله) and there s n beginning t Allah s knwledge. Fr example, where we re sitting, what we re wearing, hw we re feeling, Allah (جل جلاله) already knew abut it frm befre. And His knwledge is detailed. 2. Writing :(الكتابة) Allah (جل جلاله) cmmanded the pen t write everything until the Day f Judgement in the Preserved Tablet frm mre than 50,000 years ag. Believing in the decree is believing in Allah s ability and pwer. We need t submit and always want gd and Allah (جل جلاله) will decree gd fr us. We dn t knw what s written fr us but we need t fcus n ur actins. Up t this pint it is already pre-rdained. Everything will happen as written. And the tw remaining pints happen n the spt. 3. Will :(المشيئة) nthing can happen withut the permissin f Allah.(جل جلاله) Fr every decree, it can nly happen by Allah s will. He wills fr it t happen r nt happen. Fr example, n the Night f Decree, the angels are given what will happen fr the year, but even that can t happen withut Allah s permissin. Smetimes we want smething t happen and it desn t happen; Allah (جل جلاله) wills what s best fr us. (جل جلاله) wills, He will create fr it t happen. Fr example, Allah (جل جلاله) when Allah :(الخلق) 4. Creatin wills fr a leaf t fall, s He will create the means t make it fall whether thrugh wind, smene pulling at it, etc. Everything Allah (جل جلاله) wills is based n His perfect knwledge and wisdm. 6 P a g e

7 (أقسام التوحيد وأقسام الشرك ( types 3. Tawheed and its types / Shirk and its Meaning f tawheed ( واحد :(جعله t make Allah (جل جلاله) One. The ppsite f tawheed is shirk.(جل جلاله) which is t have thers with Allah Types f Tawheed التوحيد) :(أقسام t make Allah (جل جلاله) One is tw parts: 1. Knwledge ( العلمي :(التوحيد t have knwledge f Allah (جل جلاله) (this is input). This includes: (توحيد الربوبية) Oneness f Lrdship (توحيد األسماء والصفات) Oneness f Names and Attributes 2. Actins ( العملي :(التوحيد all f ur actins are directed t Him (this is utput). This includes: (توحيد االلوهية ( Divinity Oneness f Tawheed makes us t be ne fr Allah.(جل جلاله) There might be peple arund but everything cmes frm Him and everything we d ges t Him. Peple are nt a gal. Tawheed makes ne less sensitive t the tangible. It s imprtant we increase ur knwledge f Allah (جل جلاله) frm His names, actins and attributes because we can t see Him. Tawheed is the purpse f ur creatin. Allah (جل جلاله) created us t knw Him and wrship Him alne. Befre wrshipping we need t have knwledge. Our purpse is nt t cllectin infrmatin abut peple because then we will be attached t them. Example f Surah Al Fatiha: it cntains all types f tawheed. May Allah (جل جلاله) help us t fulfill the purpse f ur creatin. Ameen. 7 P a g e
