Christmas Cards: The St. Mary s Holy Name Society is pleased to offer a boxed set of ten Christmas cards picturing our Nativity and Epiphany windows on the face of the cards and containing appropriate Christmas scripture on the inner page. The cards will be on sale after mass on Sundays during October. The price is ten dollars per set. Newborns in Need: The Charleston chapter of Newborns in Need is asking for donations. All infant clothing (purchased or handmade) is welcome. The items are given to assist hospitals, new mothers, and orphanages. A collection box will be placed in the vestibule on the first Sunday of each month. Any monetary donations will go to buy toiletries and diapers. 5 Local Community News Widowed-Separated-Divorced: The organization called The Beginning Experience, offers a weekend away for a lifetime of change for widowed, divorced, and separated people. The weekend program helps grieving; single-again persons emerge from the darkness of grief into the light of a new beginning, and move into the future with renewed hope. The program helps deal with the natural grief process and offers an opportunity, through God, for turning pain of loss into an experience of positive growth. Founded by a Catholic nun and a Methodist lay woman, and rooted in the Christian tradition, the ministry s open, ecumenical spirit serves those of all faiths. The fall weekend will be held on October 12, 13 & 14, 2012, at Camp St. Christopher, Seabrook Island, SC. Seabrook Island is 20 miles south of Charleston, SC. The total cost is $235, which includes the program, meals, and lodging. 6 40 Days For Life 2012 Fall Campaign September 26 - November 4: 40 Days for Life is an international campaign of prayer, fasting, and peaceful vigil on public sidewalks in front of abortion facilities. It was founded in 2004 by a small group in a little Texas town frustrated with the lack of concern or participation in prayer at the local site. 40 days is now the largest coordinated prayer campaign to end abortion in history! Since it went national in 2007 (when Charleston first participated) there have been many successes: more then 525,000 participants; 5,928 lives documented spared from abortion; 69 abortion industry workers, including managers, have quit; 23 abortion facilities closed following 40 days campaigns; and 15,000 participating church congregations!
