1 A Parish Family of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charleston Parish Clergy Office hours: Stay connected: Our Mission Welcome! Are you new?

2 From the Interim Principal Dear Prince of Peace Catholic Church Community, When Jesus said Let the children come to me, He asked for children from all walks of life to be at His side. Skin color, hair color, weight, height, and age among other things did not matter. Jesus showered each child with love, faith, and kindness. I believe He saw these children as His future church. He saw them as children who would one day preach and live the gospel in His name. He saw them as children who would one day pray as they were taught by Jesus, Himself. Each time I see a picture of Jesus with the children I am in awe. Each time I am with a group of children I feel Jesus love and presence. As I write this letter to all of you, as Jesus would do, I ask you to let your children come to Prince of Peace Catholic School. Let them be a part of a school filled with Jesus presence and love through our teachers, our staff, and most importantly, our students. Affording a Catholic Education might be within your reach. I take this opportunity to both encourage and invite you to schedule an appointment at Prince of Peace Catholic School. Mrs. Lopez, our Office Manager, along with Mrs. Dolch, our School Receptionist would be happy to share the many wonderful things happening at our school. The tour will allow you to see our students and teachers in action. You will have a chance to meet with our administration. And finally, you would feel the academic opportunities and achievement of Prince of Peace Catholic School. It is a privilege to be a part of not only Prince of Peace Catholic School as the Interim Principal, but also to be a part of such a vibrant and faith-filled church community. As I close my letter of request, I ask you to think about a future at Prince of Peace Catholic School for your child(ren). We would love to be a part of your child s educational journey and formation In Faith, In Knowledge, In Friendship, For Service. Thank you for reading this letter and setting up a tour and visit. I am sure you will be happy you did! Wishing you all God s everlasting love and peace. 7 Happenings & Needs We ask all parishioners to pray for our First Communicants who will be receiving their First Holy Communion 28 April. Dear Lord, we ask You to bless our First Communicants who will soon receive the Holy Eucharist for the first time. May You fill them with Your grace and inspire them to imitate the saints in a time in the world. May they be protected by our Blessed Mother and surrounded by legions of angels as they journey in their faith. Amen For all those not able to receive our LORD in the Eucharist: If you are unable to receive Holy Communion for whatever reason, make a Spiritual Communion by reciting the following: An Act of Spiritual Communion My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I long for You in my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart, as though You have already come. I embrace You and unite myself entirely to You; never permit me to be separated from You. The Totus Tuus Potluck is scheduled for 25 July All parishioners are welcome to enjoy an evening of fellowship, even if you do not have children participating in the program. Contact Maria Barontini with questions or if you are able to help in any of the following ways: Adult volunteers are needed to help supervise during the vacation bible school week, July! Parishioners! Please volunteer to make (or buy) dinner for our approx. 30 youth attending CYO. Meals are eaten on campus. Contact Stephanie & John Lasitter at s.j.lasitter@gmail.com with questions! Fr. Smith extends his appreciation to the parishioners who generously gave to the Bishop s Annual Appeal resulting in this letter from our Bishop! Dear Father Smith, As you know, the Bishop s Annual Appeal makes it possible for the Diocese to support and engage in many very important ministries. I write to you to congratulate you in your great increase from the 2016 to 2017 Annual Appeal collections. The record of $68,620 collected in 2017 indicates a 28.8% increase from the $53,276 raised in I want to thank you for your hard work and support in this important effort. 8 Happenings & Needs Pamela & David Evette, parishioners for 13 years who attend the 8a Sunday Mass, met through work as Pamela was serving as a consultant training companies on the use of a software system and David was receiving the training! Celebrating 13 years of marriage in July, the Evettes have 3 children (Amanda, Joseph and Jackson) and live in Travelers Rest where the family enjoys spending time together. David & Pamela started a business together in 2000 that Pamela leads as President/CEO, Quality Business Solutions, which specializes in payroll, HR and back-office solutions and earned a prominent spot on Inc. Magazine s list of fastest growing businesses in the nation and one of the best places to work in South Carolina Pamela, an active member of the Prince of Peace Catholic School PTO, Parish Finance Council and Room Mom, is also very active in the community and is running for Lieutenant Governor of South Carolina alongside Governor Henry McMaster. If elected, Pamela will be the first Catholic in SC history to hold such a prominent position in the state. On 9 April, parishioners, school families and many members of the community came together to watch 28,882 dominoes topple thanks to two-time past Guinness World Record holder, John Wickham s dedication of countless hours of time, labor and energy. We extend our gratitude to John and his wife, Katy, 20-year-long members of our parish, and to everyone who attended this fun event that raised nearly $5,000 for student scholarships, teacher development, quick impact projects, and added technology at the parish school. What an incredible night! Watch the 49-second video clip on our You- Tube channel: On Corpus Christi (3 June 2018), we will merge the 10a and 12p Mass into one joyous celebration of the First Mass of the newly ordained Fr.
