Your Word declares that you are sovereign, and that nothing happens beyond your control, but at times that is hard for us to believe. We witness tragedies: tornadoes, hurricanes, droughts, wars and murderous attacks, and we ask, Where are you? Our loved ones are suddenly taken from us, and we ask, Why did you allow it? We are tempted to believe that you are either loving but not sovereign, or sovereign but not loving. But your Word reveals you to be both a loving Father and a sovereign King. Forgive us, we pray, for our unbelief, worry, fear and discontentment; and forgive us for all the other sins we continue to wrestle with, as your children. Help us to trust you more and more, as we are daily transformed by the renewing of our minds through your Holy Word. Lord, we believe----but help our unbelief. 6 Focus on Missions Ministry to State/MNA/Chuck & Debby Garriott Chuck and Debby wouldn t be ministering in the D.C. area today without a clear sense of God s direction, a calling that is confirmed in the ongoing needs, ministry opportunities, relationships and life provisions. With it all is a weighty sense of stewardship. They have been entrusted with a ministry history and resources that need to be applied to their works. They have been encouraged by the way their team is expanding. Please pray for the additional staff positions that they are looking to fill. The Garriotts thank the body of Liberty for their support that comes in various ways, but especially for prayers. New Member Seminar I believe that every Christian should be a member of a local Bible-believing church, for personal growth, for accountability, for opportunities of service, to have a part in the choice of leaders, etc. I m planning a New Member Seminar for Saturday morning, October 28th, from 8:30-12:30. Coffee and muffins will be served to those who promise to be careful not to spill anything. If you wish to attend, please notify me or call or the church office. If you need to meet on a different date, please let me know. Pastor Russ Mark your Calendars Sunday, October 29th at 12:30 pm will be our Semi-Annual Congregational meeting. The purpose of the meeting will be to vote to recommend the adoption of the 2018 Budget including a change in Pastor Barry s salary. We will also vote on minor changes to our by-laws regarding the officer nominating committee. The 2018 budget and proposed by-law changes will be ed or mailed next week and copies will be available next Sunday. Prayer and Praise Service Sunday, October 15th at 6:00 pm Our elders invite you to join them in prayer for our church, our nation and world for an outpouring of God s Spirit to bring revival. The service will be followed by a fellowship meal at 7:00 pm. We will be having a chili dinner. We need people to sign up to bring either chili or a side and dessert. You re welcome to bring chili with or without meat. Please label all dishes. Sign up beginning this week on the sign up sheets located by the exits or through the Constant Contact Invitation you will be receiving. If you sign up online, you don t need to sign up on the sign up sheets.

7 October Blood Drive Our next blood drive is scheduled for Monday, October 23, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in our Fellowship Hall. OCTOBER 18 th Sign ups after church in Narthex Oct. 8 & 15 Desserts are welcome We desire to include everyone in this celebration. If cost prevents you from attending, please inform church office AND be sure to sign up. An Opportunity to be a Minister of Mercy Liberty's Ministry of Mercy has openings for a few more willing servants. Our Lord calls us to demonstrate our love for Him by loving and caring for each other. The Mercy Needs Ministry does this by sending flowers, cards and notes of encouragement to hurting brethren; providing various forms of practical assistance (including financial, through the generosity of Liberty members) as well as budgetary counseling to those in need; and praying for the flock. We meet together on the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. Ministries of Mercy bless not only those who receive the help, but also those who offer it. Please prayerfully consider participating in this ministry, and contact either Deacon Jeff Jordan or Doug Womer, or Elder Michael Anderson if you are interested.

8 Mercy Needs Request There is a need in the Body for companionship for a disabled person (ambulatory). This would involve a commitment of several hours per week, two days a week for a lunch outing or similar activity. The Mercy Needs Committee would reimburse for expenses. Please contact Doug Womer or Jeff Jordan from the Mercy Needs Committee if you are interested. Urgent Need for Counting Team Help There is an urgent need for two members to serve on one of our counting teams which counts on Sunday afternoons. Training could start in September. Please contact Brian Moran. Help Needed for Fall Harvest Party There is an urgent need for volunteers to set up, greet attendees, clean up, help run Harvest games and have spiritual conversations with attendees. WE ALSO NEED CANDY! Baskets to collect candy will be near the entrances of the church next week. Please no candy with peanuts or peanut butter due to many people with peanut allergies. Contact Phill Thomas if you would like to volunteer to help. Help the Hathaways move The Hathways need your help packing and moving the afternoon and evening of Thursday, October 19th. They will be moving to 1325 Cheshire Lane, Bel Air, MD Christmas Concert The Christmas concert is on Dec 16 and 17. If you would like to sing with the choir just for the Christmas concert, rehearsals will begin Wednesday, Oct 11, from 8-9 for Christmas music. We are praying the Lord will increase our numbers, as several of our members have had to step down.
