They will be stationed by the Communion Table following the service. We welcome to our pulpit again Rev. Charles Garriott. Rev. Garriott was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and educated at the University of Baltimore and Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. For over twenty years he pastored in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He develops ministry to those in government in Washington, D.C., state, and international capitals, under the auspices of Mission to North America, Presbyterian Church in America. He has authored Work Excellence: A Biblical Perspective of Work; Obama Prayer: Prayers for the 44th President and Rulers: Gospel and Government. He lives with his wife Debby in the District of Columbia. They have four children and six grandchildren. Next week, not only is Jeff Jordan getting married but his brother, Rev. Jim Jordan will be bringing us the Word next Sunday. Like his brother, Jim grew up at Liberty and was active in the youth ministry under Rev. Scott Lingle. Jim is now an Assistant Pastor in the OPC at Church of the Covenant in Hackettstown, NJ. We look forward to having him share the Word with us again! 7 NEW CHALLENGE It has been a while since Pastor Barry gave a challenge based on his latest sermon - so back by popular demand - Here is a new challenge! This challenge is based on a point Pastor B made in last Sunday s sermon. Here it is: In Ephesians 4:8, the Apostle Paul quotes from Psalm 68:18, which says, the Lord received gifts among men. However, when Paul quotes from Psalm 68:18 in Ephesians 4:8, he says the Lord gave gifts to men. Some commentators believe that Paul was using an Aramaic translation of the Old Testament which says, he gave gifts to men which was useful in demonstrating his point that the Lord gives His people gifts. Question to investigate: What is the Aramaic translation or paraphrase of the Old Testament called? The first person to Pastor Barry after Sunday s service with the correct answer will receive a prize. You can him at barry_cureton@libertychurchpca.org. Contest Rules: No age limit but if you are two years old and get the answer, Pastor B will be highly skeptical that you didn t have some help. However, you can make it a family project. As with all promotions, my family members are excluded. Prize to be determined based on what Pastor B might have in his garage that he wants to get rid of. Winner to be announced once we have one. Bring a sandwich and we will supply drinks, dessert and popcorn! The movie is War Room starring Phyllis Shirer. It is a compelling faith drama filled with humor and heart. VISIT WITH HANNAH CATE You are invited to a get together and chat with Hannah Cate next Monday, July 16 th at 7 p.m. in the church parlor. It will give you an opportunity to hear all about her trip to China this past year to teach English and also about her retun trip to China as a team leader. Refreshments will be served. YOUTH ANNOUNCEMENTS We are meeting tonight; come join us! During the summer we are meeting EVERY Sunday evening for youth group. If you are interested in leadership, come at 5:30 for our leadership meeting. Youth group starts at 6:30 and ends at 8:30. LADIES GAME NIGHT Wednesday, July 18 6:30 9:00 pm in Fellowship Hall Bring a snack to share. We will have some games but feel free to bring your favorite game too.
