3 Christmas Blessings At a moment in time The Father so wanted to make His love known to us that He gave us His only Son. It was a miraculous story. It is a story of great simplicity; God came into the world in the form of a newborn child. This is a story of God becoming real in unimaginable ways. Although the birth was a one time event, His presence is eternal. All of us enter this day with our own traditions and practices. However we may celebrate this day, we are invited to have an open heart to recognize that Jesus continues to come among us. Do we believe He is here among us? Do we know the power and gift of His forgiveness, hope and love? On behalf of all of us who work and minister at Holy Cross, we offer you and your loved ones the joy of this Christmas Day. Father Michael The Parish Office is closed on December 25th and 26th for the Christmas holiday. There will not be a 9AM Mass on December 26th. 3

8 PARISH OUTREACH AN OUTREACH CHRISTMAS THANK YOU! We were once again blessed with a tremendous response to our Christmas Angel project. Our struggling households were so very grateful for the gift cards for their families. As parents and family members, we can appreciate how good it is to provide for our children s needs. By enabling these moms and dads to do the same accomplishes so much more than just handing them a gift someone else has bought. They can now provide in a way they couldn t before. This year we helped 73 families with clothing and toys for 255 individuals, including 95 children. We collected enough gift cards to provide each person with approximately $20 for clothing needs and an additional $20 per child for their toy requests. Also, each household received a supermarket card to help with their holiday meal. This means we collected and distributed about $7,000 in gift cards and about $1,500 in supermarket cards. Thank you so much for bringing the Light of Jesus Birth to those who struggle each and every day. You are truly special ANGELS! Christ is born again every time we choose to give to another, walk with another or empower another. In addition, the parish also provided gifts to the following agencies: 40 Gifts to our friends at Olsen s Rest Home 32 Gifts to Mercy Haven 113 Toys to Pronto in Brentwood 45 Gifts to Talbot House This is a phenomenal effort that requires many volunteers to accomplish. A very big THANK YOU to angel cutters, shoppers, pantry stockers, sorting elves, gift deliverers, wrappers, card writers, those who donated money, gift cards and special donations which helped us and our families so much. We would also like to mention the Nesconset Chamber of Commerce who provided Christmas food for 15 households serviced by Outreach, which was a huge help to us. THANK YOU seems an inadequate way to express our appreciation. We wish you and your families a Very Blessed Christmas! Gratefully, Mary Anne & Pat 8
