1 WELCOME AND BLESSINGS If you are not of the Catholic faith, please feel free to come up at Communion, cross your arms and receive a blessing from Father or Deacon. Holy Family Parish September 3rd, nd Sunday in Ordinary Time Holy Family Office (902) Father Craig Christenson Parish Priest/Moderator of Cumberland County Glenna O Quinn Parish Coordinator Evelyn Currie Office Manager/ Bookkeeper Bill Meehan Caretaker Deacon Howard Gotell WE WELCOME, WE WORSHIP, WE WITNESS Happy September Long Weekend! It is always with a sad heart that Fall arrives, for those who try to enjoy every minute of the Summer, however it is also with a bit of hope and joy...being that the Fall is always truly beautiful here. As for our Parish seasons of change, our Fall brings with us a new Office Manager, Evelyn Currie and the retiring of Linda Fraser and Maria Kirkpatrick on Friday, Sept. 1st. Both Linda and Maria have been a huge blessing to our community, with the many things that you know that they have done behind the scenes, but for all the things that they have done over and above for this parish and it s people, that many may not be as aware. My personal gratitude for these two women, is immeasurable! They kept the foundation strong for the staff and the church, through the many changes in the past 2 years! They are a huge reason that there is such a wonderful community here at Holy Family, as they have looked after the things that have made all of our lives much better. Enjoy the new things that you take on Linda and Maria, and know that you have served as faithful servants the message of God, by sharing your strengths, time, talent and treasure in everyway you could. Thank You! Evelyn, our newest staff member, has started and its in a sharp learning curve, however she has jumped in with two feet and a great attitude! Welcome Evelyn to the Holy Family family! We thank you for saying YES and sharing your gifts with us. Saying Thank-You and Good Bye: As well, our most beloved Sister Teresa Currie will be returning to live and serve her faith community of St. Martha's in PEI this fall, after 66+ years in her dedicated ordained service internationally, and for 36+ years here in Amherst alone. Sister Teresa is a woman of faith, a woman of justice and fairness, a woman of deep love and deep conviction, and she is a woman with the most outrageous sense of life and humor! She is a force to be reckoned with, but she is also the most tender heart and compassion, for all those who are in need of love, patience and respect. As much as we feel this is too soon, Sister Teresa is going to be returning to her community to continue to serve in any way she can, not retiring! We are planning to celebrate all that her life represents to so many, on Sunday, September 24th from 7-9pm here in our hall. We are joining the many groups that Sister Teresa has worked for and worked with, to try to capture the love and gratitude that many have for her...we hope that as many of our community will be joining in this wonderful celebration. Please share this with everyone the special date. Thank you Sister Teresa.more to come!! :) Father Craig, the Staff and I are very excited about what this Fall brings with it. There will be changes, there will be losses, there will new challenges to overcome, but the amazing thing about all of this, is that we will do it all together. We will celebrate the joy, the new experiences, the new people who join our community and take on new roles. We will celebrate all the new ideas that this community has for areas that we can be of more service, to each other and to our larger family outside these walls. This is a new year, but is is supported by a very strong foundation of incredible parishioners who lead, and work with, our Ministries, Councils, and Committees. They are the ones leading the Choirs, the Readers, the Ushers that we see, but they are also doing home visits with the poor, making food to give to those who are hungry and they are helping the many in need, that we don t always see. We have so much to celebrate, so it is our hope that you join Father Craig, the Staff, and our entire community at our Summer Church Picnic September 17th after Mass, from 1 4pm here on the church property, enjoying good food, good family and good times. We are grateful and this Fall we can harvest together with a few parties together! God Bless Glenna xo Please Park in Holy Family parish spots, not the PRIVATE parking for apartments. Thank You!

He went on to say that, even if many experience life as a prolonged period of suffering, such as people haunted by violence and war, there is still a Father who weeps with infinite compassion for his children, and who waits to console them with a very different future. He noted in particular the recent attacks in Barcelona, and sad news coming out of the Democratic Republic of Congo that made headline news. Among those present in the Paul VI Hall on Wednesday were many English speaking pilgrims. The Holy Father had a special greeting pilgrims from the Cardjin Community International on the fiftieth anniversary of the death of Cardinal Joseph Cardijn. The Popes General Audience continued his catechesis on Christian hope reflecting on the hope contained in our ultimate destination, the heavenly Kingdom of God.
