We also need Hero Helpers (also known as VBS volunteers!) to join us for these days of FUN! 3 PAGE 3 May Celebrations Welcomed 8 new members to our community of faith. Celebrated our annual Music Sunday Hosted community music recitals Began our summer schedule with one service each Sunday morning. UMW circles held their monthly gatherings. Steve & Sharon Olson, Lynn Clark and Lisa Srenaski prepared and Colleen Kendle, Loretta Delvaux, Michelle & Tyler Kasper served the N.E.W. Community Shelter meal to 152 people. Adult Education classes finished. Recalled and celebrated the life of Ione Sharp. Rev. Diane attended the Festival of Homiletics conference in Texas. Collected baby items for Wisconsin Annual confer ence Ingathering on Mother s Day. A variety of ministries continued to collect items in support of Salvation Army, Conference Ingathering, local school children & EPH. Prayer Shawl Ministry continued to comfort people in powerful ways. Care Team continued to bring joy and comfort to those unable to join us in worship, as well as serving them Communion. Jail team took books & Bibles from Brown County Library to jail every Tuesday. We extended our beautiful building to Scouts, TOPS, Piano groups and Mather Heights Neighborhood Association. We are always looking for Sunday morning volunteers to serve as greeters, ushers, and coffee fellowship hosts. 4 Harry Potter Summer Reading program Calling All Harry Potter Fans...4,224 pages, 198 chapters and 12 weeks. This summer, Harry Potter fans from St. Paul's will be getting together to tackle reading all seven Harry Potter books, with weekly meetings for discussion. Next September we'll start a Harry Potter Sunday School class, where we watch and discuss all eight of the movies - using Harry Potter to help us learn more about our faith. This summer's reading is all for fun. All ages are welcome - Harry Potter fanatics (like me) and Harry Potter newbies. Feel free to bring a friend. If you're interested, please contact Dawn Smith at by May 21st. Once we determine who's interested, we'll try and find a day and time that works best. Time for Camp In a world where it s hard to be a kid AND it s hard to be a parent, let church camp be your partner in faith & development of your child. In a Land of Blue Burqas, Kate McCord depicts sharing the love and truth of Christ with women living in Afghanistan, which has been called "the world's most dangerous country in which to be born a woman." This is a collection of vignettes tethered together by the real danger that Muslim women face in Afghanistan. A note from Vashni Seitzer My church family & friends: PAGE 4 During the month of June I will again be traveling to Concordia, Mequon for continuation of my studies. I am very excited to learn from some "greats" in their fields: Dr. Paul Westermeyer (Hymnody), known for his encouragement of church musicians to develop a "pastoral" view of their role; Dr. David Cherwien (Composing & Arranging), known for his promotion of the Hymn Festival, founded by Cherwien's teacher, Paul Manz; and Prof. Mark Bloedow (Handbell Methods). Although I will be in classes the entire month I am only taking two Sundays off. My faithful sub, Jason Pues, will join you those days. You will briefly see me for June 25 and I'll be back in the saddle on July 2. Thank you for prayers! This year I have one less class so, hopefully, my sleep will not be as short as last year. Josie Berndt graduated from Wrightstown High School and plans to attend NWTC in the fall to study electro mechanical engineering. Landin Van Ess graduated from Preble High School with honors and will immediately begin a 1 year program at NWTC for Gas Utility & Service Technician. Ella Conard graduated from Southwest High School and will be attending UW-Green Bay in the fall. Ella plans to enter the Health field. Kaitlynn Wagner graduated from West De Pere High School and will be attending UW Eau Claire in the fall to study forensic investigation. College Jayne Korotev graduated from UW La Crosse with honors. She has a major in English Education and a minor in Special Education and is applying for high school English teacher and/or Special Ed teacher in the Milwaukee School system. Neil Anderson graduated from UW-La Crosse with a Bachelor's Degree in Economics. He will be starting his career at Laforce Inc. in Green Bay. Graduate School Sam Stevens graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin, as a Doctor of Medicine (MD) and will begin a 3 year residency in Family Medicine at Community Memorial Hospital in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin in July. He also got married the weekend after graduation! Commit to the Lord whatever you do & He will establish your plans. Proverbs 16:3

6 PAGE 8 Welcome to our newest St. Paul s family members It is always a blessing to welcome newcomers and visitors to our congregation. I can truthfully say that at every newcomers brunch, those newest among us speak of being so deeply grateful for the welcome they receive here at St Paul's. They find all of you to be warm, welcoming AND encouraging of them to find a place here in ministry... whether that be singing in the choir, attending SS or Adult Ed, joining a circle or serving a meal at NEW community shelter. We are so pleased that the following people took their vows of membership here on May 21. And guess what? Each one of our new members have been active United Methodists! This rarely happens. We are often welcoming people from other denominations or those who have never ever known a church home. But these folks are United Methodists from Missouri, Kentucky and other cities in WI. I give thanks for the congregations in which they were nurtured who now have sent them forth to us. Welcome!!! -Rev. Barb and John have a daughter Ruthanne (5), and they look forward to becoming involved in a variety of ministry s including mission work. They reside in Green Bay. Jill Kurowski joins by profession of faith. Jill is originally from the U.P. and now resides in Green Bay. Jill enjoys gardening, knitting, crocheting and Ancestry. Charles Rollman joins by transfer from Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Appleton. He has been attending St. Paul s UMC for a long time. Charles has one son, Jerrey, and three daughters, Catherine, Karen, and Renee. Charles resides in Green Bay. Tom and Nancy Wakefield join by transfer from Platte Woods United Methodist Church in Kansas City, MO were they previously resided. Tom spent 29 years in the Army and retired in Nancy is also retired and enjoys quilting. They have one daughter, Stacy. Tom and Nancy reside in Green Bay. Don and Lynne Wilson join by transfer from Centenary United Methodist Church in Danville, KY. They have been members of the United Methodist church for 42 years and have been very active in a variety of ministries including hand bells and choir. Lynne has joined the St. Paul s Chancel Choir. Don and Lynne reside in Seymour and have one son who lives in Howard.
