3 2018 ALABAMA BIBLE DRILL RETREAT Thank you for joining us as we Marvel in His Word. We will be taking this opportunity to discover resources, ideas, and advice on having a truly wonderful experience in Bible Drill as a participant and/or leader. WORSHIP SPEAKER RIC CALLAHAN WESTWOOD BAPTIST CHURCH ALABASTER, ALABAMA Ric Callahan loves kids and families. He currently serves as the pastor of Families at Westwood Baptist Church in Alabaster, Alabama. Ric has served in numerous churches in Alabama, Georgia, and Texas. His passion for God s Word and his desire to connect, engage, and inspire families and kids to impact their world for Jesus is evident to those he serves. Ric uses creative storytelling, music, drama, and object lessons to share the truths of the gospel. Over the years he has led conferences, seminars, camps, and retreats for all age groups. Ric lives in Pell City, Alabama with his wife, Carla. Rick and Carla have two grown daughters. GENERAL RETREAT INFORMATION 1. Children/youth/high school participants will follow the schedule on their nametags. Leaders will follow the schedule in the program. 2. Please have a leader from you church remain with your children. This will allow the conference leaders to focus on teaching and will be helpful should an emergency arise. 3. We also need children s leaders to assist with snack time on Saturday morning from 10:00 to 10:15 am. 4. We have extra backpacks for sale in Bagley Room 104. They are $5.00 each. 5. Evaluation forms for the retreat are provided in the program. Please complete and return them to the box in the Program Director s Office in Bagley. We will be drawing for door prizes (great drill leader resources) from these at the Saturday worship time. 6. Lights are out at 10:30 pm. Please make sure the children/youth/high school from your church are in their rooms and quiet by this time. 7. The Bible Drill in a Box conference on Saturday morning from 8:00 am until 10:00 am will be a make and take conference. We will provide one Drill in a Box for each church.

9 CHILDREN S LEADERS Bible Drill in a Box (2-Hour Conference): Each church will be provided an entire year s worth of Bible Drill activities and games to use as you teach. During this conference, leaders will make many resources that can be used all year long. This is a conference you don t want to miss! (For churches that have not already completed a box for the Red Cycle) Bible Drill Family Devotions: Family devotions for all 25 verses and 10 key passages in this year s Red Cycle will be provided for you to use in a variety of ways in your church. Bible Drill Make It & Take It/Swap Shop: Join us for some creative games and activities to use in teaching Children s Bible Drill. During this class you will make some games and activities that you can take back with you to use in your church. Be prepared to share one or more creative ideas you use in Bible Drill. Bible Drill Workshop for New Leaders (2-Hour Conference): For all new Children s Bible Drill Leaders This conference will go over all you need to know to lead a successful Bible Drill in your church. Bible Drill Workshop for Experienced Leaders (1-Hour Conference): For experienced Children s Bible Drill Leaders Join us for this conference as we share fun and creative ideas to help your Bible Drill class. Books of the Bible/Speed: Learn how to more effectively teach the books of the Bible to your children and students along with helping them learn how to locate the books of the Bible with speed. How to Plan, Judge, and Call a Bible Drill: Hear from an experienced Bible Drill Leader on how to have a successful Bible Drill in your church. How to plan, call, and prepare for your Church Drill will be explained. YOUTH AND HIGH SCHOOL LEADERS Bible Drill Workshop for New Leaders: For all Youth and High School Bible Drill Leaders. This conference will go over everything you need to know to lead a successful Youth or High School Bible Drill in your church. Books of the Bible/Speed: Learn how to more effectively teach the books of the Bible to your children and students along with helping them learn how to locate the books of the Bible with speed. Just like life hacks make life easier, Bible Drill Hacks will make Bible Drill easier and leave you thinking, Why didn t I think of that?

10 CHILDREN Books of the Bible/Speed: Children will participate in fun activities for learning and practicing the books of the Bible and the proper procedure for its use. Make It/Take It: Children will make a fun Bible Drill craft. Key Passages: Participants will have a chance to check out the Key Passages for this cycle and discover some good ways to remember them. Verses (Quotation): Participants will learn verses...quotation style. Verses (Completion): Participants will learn verses...completion style. YOUTH Bible Answers Drill: Youth will have a great time learning verses that answer important questions while doing creative activities. Doctrinal Drill: Youth will learn verses that go with the Doctrinal Statements using fun approaches. Identifying Verses: Youth will participate in activities that will help them remember entire verses when hearing only a portion of them. Locating Books/Scripture Searching Procedure: Youth will learn how to perfect the procedure they use in handling the Bible during a drill. They will also enjoy practicing finding books and scriptures. Memorizing Scripture: Come learn the benefits of memorizing scripture. You will learn practical tips that will help you hide God s Word in your heart. HIGH SCHOOL Key Biblical Passages: High school students will participate in activities that will enable them to learn the Key Biblical Passages. Locating Books/Scripture Searching Procedure: High school students will learn how to perfect the procedure they use in handling the Bible during a drill. They will also enjoy practicing finding books and scriptures. Memorizing Scripture: Come learn the benefits of memorizing scripture. You will learn practical tips that will help you hide God s Word in your heart. Steps to Salvation: High school students will participate in fun activities to help them learn the Steps to Salvation. What We Believe: High school students will learn verses to go with the What We Believe statements using fun approaches.
