As a courtesy to others, please turn off your cell phone and no flash photography during the service.

2 HYMN 150 As with Gladness Men of Old Dix PRAYER OF CONFESSION Leader: I said I will confess my transgressions to the Lord. People: And you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Leader: Let us pray: All: O God, our guide, who once used a star to lead people to Christ, we confess our poor sense of direction. We let ourselves become confused, easily distracted, and lose our way. We fail to follow the signs you provide. Forgive our waywardness, O God. Lead us to the Christ so that we may follow his way to you. Leader: Friends, believe the Good News. People: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. GLORIA PATRI (Glory to God, #581) Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. 3 OFFERTORY Gloria in excelsis Deo Franz Joseph Haydn ( ) DOXOLOGY (Glory to God, #607) Old Hundredth Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise God all creatures here below; praise God above, ye heavenly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen. PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING AFFIRMATION OF FAITH Nicene Creed I believe in one God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible; and in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, begotten of His Father before all worlds; God of God; Light of Light; Very God of Very God; begotten not made; being of one substance with the father, by whom all things were made; who for us men and for our salvation, came down from heaven; and was incarnate by the Holy Ghost of the Virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried; and the third day he rose again according to the scriptures; and ascended into heaven; and sitteth on the right hand of the Father. And he shall come again with glory to judge both the quick and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end. And I believe in the Holy Ghost, the lord and giver of life; who proceedeth from the Father and the Son; who with the father and the son together is worshipped and glorified; who spake by the prophets. And I believe one Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins. And I look for the resurrection of the death; and the life of the world to come. Amen. THE SACRAMENT OF THE LORD S SUPPER INVITATION AND GREAT THANKSGIVING The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise. Prayer continues

4 Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with choirs of angels and with all the faithful of every time and place, who forever sing to the glory of your name: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, Heaven and earth are full of your glory, Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. Prayer continues PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. BREAKING OF THE BREAD Jesus, Lamb of God, Have mercy on us. 5 WELCOME Our congregation has been welcoming members and visitors to worship on the Lord s Day since March 16, If you are visiting this morning, we extend a special welcome to you and invite you to introduce yourself to one of the pastors or speak with an usher if you have any questions. If you are looking for a church home and would like to talk with one of the pastors, please fill out the fellowship pad in the pew today or call the church office. Today s Music: The anthem this morning is a setting of a German folksong by Johannes Brahms, that quintessential German romantic composer. He composed for all the major symphonic, chamber, and song genres of his day and did so with an elusive balance of innovation and adherence to the legacy of the past. The result is beautifully crafted music that has truly stood the test of time. The flowers in the Chancel today are dedicated to the glory of God. The ushers for January are Marty Crowson(Captain), Judi Crowson, Roy Henwood, Nancy Kuhn, Paige McDermott, Peyton Miller, Alexis Pollock, Dwight Smith, and Pamela Sorenson. Today after the service all are invited to join us after worship for Punch Bunch hosted by GPC Young Adults. Assisted listening devices may be found at the back of the sanctuary. Each device comes with a headset, but you may bring your own from home to plug in. Please let the ushers know if you have any problems. Readings are from the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible unless otherwise indicated. Blue Bibles are located at the end of each pew. Children s Worship During the service, Children s Worship continues after Time with Children. Pre-K goes upstairs to Early Children s Worship K-2 nd grades go downstairs to Intermediate Children s Worship 3 rd -5th grades go to the Chapel for Older Children s Worship Children should be collected by their parents immediately after the service. All children are welcome to remain with their families in the service and ageappropriate worship bags are available in the narthex.
