The purpose of our congregation is to worship God, who gives life through Word and Sacrament; to serve one another in love and fellowship; and to proclaim forgiveness and salvation to all through Jesus Christ alone. PARENT S ROOM A room is available if your little one needs a moment. It is the first room on the right as you walk into the church building. 3 WELCOME TO OUR EASTER CELEBRATION! We rejoice that you are with us today to celebrate the Resurrection of Our Lord. We left church on Friday in silence, contemplating the death of Jesus in our place and for our sins. Just as the earthquake broke the silence early on that first Easter morning, our voices are raised to sing our thanks and praise to our resurrected Lord. Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? 1 Christ is risen. He is risen indeed! EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE EASTER GREETING P: Christ is risen! C: He is risen indeed. 2 P: Christ is risen! C: He is risen indeed. For centuries, Christians have used this greeting during the 50 days of Easter. When the Pastor says, in the service or sermon, Christ is risen, the congregation responds, He is risen indeed! Please follow this tradition during the service this morning. 3

Our resurrected Lord said, If you forgive anyone His sins, they are forgiven. 3 Therefore, as a called servant of the living Christ and by His authority, I forgive your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. 7 THE HOLY GOSPEL - JOHN 20: Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb. She saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. 2 So she left and ran to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved. They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, she told them, and we don t know where they put him! 3 So Peter and the other disciple went out, heading for the tomb. 4 The two were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and got to the tomb first. 5 Bending over, he saw the linen cloths lying there, yet he did not go in. 6 Then Simon Peter, who was following him, arrived and went into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying there. 7 The cloth that had been on Jesus head was not lying with the linen cloths, but was folded up in a separate place by itself. 8 Then the other disciple, who arrived at the tomb first, also entered. He saw and believed. 9 (They still did not yet understand the Scripture that he must rise from the dead.) 10 Then the disciples went back to their homes. 11 But Mary stood outside facing the tomb, weeping. As she wept, she bent over, looking into the tomb. 12 She saw two angels in white clothes sitting where the body of Jesus had been lying, one at the head and one at the feet. 13 They asked her, Woman, why are you weeping? She told them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I don t know where they have laid him. 14 After she said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, though she did not know it was Jesus. 15 Jesus said to her, Woman, why are you weeping? Who are you looking for? Supposing he was the gardener, she replied, Sir, if you carried him off, tell me where you laid him, and I will get him. 16 Jesus said to her, Mary. She turned and replied in Aramaic, Rabboni! (which means, Teacher ). 17 Jesus told her, Do not continue to cling to me, for I have not yet ascended to my Father. But go to my brothers and tell them, I am ascending to my Father and your Father to my God and your God. 18 Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, I have seen the Lord! 8 2ND ARTICLE OF THE APOSTLES CREED WITH EXPLANATION C: I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From there He will come to judge the living and the dead. What does this mean? I believe that Jesus Christ is true God, begotten of the Father from eternity, and also true man, born of the Virgin Mary; and that he is my Lord, Who has redeemed me, a lost and condemned creature, purchased and won me from all sins, from death and from the power of the devil; not with gold or silver, but with his holy, precious blood and with his innocent suffering and death; In order that I might be his own, live under him in his kingdom, and serve him in everlasting righteousness, innocence and blessedness; even as he is risen from the dead, lives and reigns to all eternity. This is most certainly true. THE OFFERING The members of Peace Lutheran Congregation have joined together to do the Lord s work in this community and around the world. Visitors need not feel obligated to participate in this offering which supports our ministry. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 11 Family Night - Burgers and Bingo Please join us for our next Family Night on Friday, April 13 th at 6:00pm. Our theme for the evening is Burgers and Bingo. We ll provide the burgers and hot dogs for the meal and we ask that you bring a side dish to share. Our Bingo Night will feature a fun emoji theme with prizes for each round! We are in need of new or gently used prizes. If you have any items to donate, please drop them off in the church office by Wednesday, April 11 th. There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board for those wishing to play on the Peace Men s Softball team. Please fill out the information requested and sign. The 2018 Annual Meeting of the New 2 You Family Thrift Store will be held Sunday, April 22 at 2:00pm. This meeting will be held at St Paul's Lutheran Church in North Mankato. 12 Check Out Our New Christian Bookshelf We recently added a bookshelf near the coffee bar in the new addition. This bookshelf is intended to provide members and guests with high quality and doctrinally sound devotional material. Currently there are resources for family devotions, individual devotion and study, ELS resources, evangelism, Christian life, and Christian finance. There is a suggested donation for each book. Proclaim the Wonders God Has Done: The following announcement appeared in the April 1, 1918 issue of the church paper Luthersk Tidende: Pastors and members of congregations who desire to continue in the old doctrine and practice of the Norwegian Synod will, God willing, hold their annual meeting in the Lime Creek congregation, Pastor H. Ingebritson s charge, June 14 and following days. On Saturday, June 16 the ELS Historical Society will revisit the ELS convention of 100 years ago at Albert Lea and Lime Creek beginning at 3:00 p.m. The registration fee for the meeting and lunch is $15. Following the catered lunch, we will go to the Lime Creek Church for a commemorative service. Registration for the meeting and lunch is due June 1 st, and information about payment will be coming in the future. 12
