1 FALL / WINTER 2017
2 We are so excited that you are considering being a part of Connect Groups at Silver Creek! Our primary goal of these groups is to provide a variety of ways for you to develop connections with others at Silver Creek. You'll notice three types of groups: Interest, Study, and Service. We are also pleased to announce a new sort of onetime connect group that we re calling Connect Events. Some of the on-going groups happen every week, some every other week, others monthly. You can sign up for multiple groups or just one group - your call. We just hope that you will join a group that helps you establish great connections with others who attend Silver Creek. Logistically, there are a couple of ways you can get started on your Connect Group journey: - You can visit silvercreekfamily.org and find the link to registrations under the Connect Groups page. - You can also pick up and fill out a registration card - available at the kiosk in the lobby. Registration cards can also be left with the volunteer at the lobby kiosk or dropped in the offering bucket during service. If you have questions about a specific group, please feel free to contact the listed group leader. They would love to tell you more about their group. If you have any questions, don t hesitate to contact us at staff@silvercreekfamily.org 1 CONTENTS 03 INTEREST 04 - Game Night 04 - Deuteronomy 20:4 Dawgs 05 - Recreational Volleyball 05 - Football and Fellowship 07 - Crafting Goodness 08 - Seasonal Outings for Kids and Parents 11 STUDY 11 - Characters of Genesis 12 - Gospel of Matthew Bible Study 12 - Interactive Study of Romans 09 SERVICE 09 - Community Service Group 10 - Weekly Prayer Group 10 - Lynnwood Food Bank 13 EVENTS 14 - Bunko 14 - Partnership Class 15 - [Cook]book club 15 - The Shack Movie Night 16 - Fire Mountain Camping Weekend
3 INTEREST GROUPS Friday Night Game Night is a fun and easy way to start your weekend off with fun and laughter. Along with games, there is always plenty of good food, snacks, and company. SCOTT CURL MEMBER OF INT102 GAME NIGHT int101 Game Night Friday : Monthly, 2nd Friday 10/13-12/8 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM Location: Hoehna Home - Shoreline Leaders: JoAne and Jonny Hoehna jhoehna@gmail.com Description: Get together with other adults and young adults to play board game and share food. Please bring a snack to share and your favorite board game. Or just enjoy the games other people bring. int102 Deuteronomy 20:4 Dawgs Saturday : Monthly pack meetings throughout season Location: Miller Home - Edmonds Leaders: Ryan Miller ryanstevenmiller@gmail.com, Parents with kids, All are welcome Description: Get together to watch some Husky Football! 4 int103 Monday Night Volleyball Monday : Weekly 10/2-12/18 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM Location: Silver Creek Gym Leaders: Carter Boad carterb@electroimpact.com Description: Every Monday night, we play co-ed open gym recreational volleyball. We're not pros, but we play our best and have a great time competing with and encouraging each other. int104 Football and Fellowship Sunday : Monthly - Likely 10/22, 11/26, 12/17 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM Location: Cuellar Home - Lynnwood Leaders: Matt and Nicole Cuellar mncuellar@gmail.com I immediately felt welcomed and folks like Carter helped confirm that Silver Creek was a community that my family and I would love to be a part of. You might ask what playing volleyball has to do with following Jesus? Shouldn't a legit connect group have more Bible study or something? I have been surprised at how character building it can be! It is one thing to hear a great Sunday morning talk or read about being patient, kind, encouraging and another to do it in the context of someone serving ten unanswered points in a row at your team or blocking your otherwise monster spike. I often see Jesus in real, tangible ways through the encouragement and kindness that comes out of folks in competitive situations when the default response would normally be the opposite. Yes, it is just rec volleyball but it is one of the highlights of my week. If you feel like you haven't really connected, give a group a try. MATT VAUGHN MEMBER OF INT103 RECREATIONAL VOLLEYBALL This group is for: Men, Women, Parents with kids Description: Please join us once a month to gather, watch a Seahawks game, enjoy snacks, and build and strengthen new relationships. Cost/Supplies: Potluck style snacks/drinks 5 6

Bring whatever crafty project you are working on and a dessert or snack to share. We will provide the main dish for lunch! Crafting helps us connect to friends and family and we would love to see you and your friends join and connect with us. This group is for: Parents with kids Description: We'll be meeting once monthly on a weekday for a seasonal half-day activity. Exact outings are TBD, but will be something seasonal to each month, ex. pumpkin farms or carving, reindeer visits, etc. This is a fun way to connect with other families and enjoy fun and festive events! You'll receive an with the exact events shortly after signing up for the group. Cost/Supplies: Cost depends on event 7 8

8 CONNECT EVENTS The Partnership class was both educational and a great place to meet others. I enjoyed hearing the history of the church, our beliefs, as well as gain a further understanding of our denomination and how we fit into it. I'd have to say my two favorite takeaways were meeting people from the church that I hadn't met yet as well as gaining a sense of ownership as a regular attendee at Silver Creek Family Church. I highly recommend taking the class! HEIDI MUNSON ATTENDEE OF EVENT102 PARTNERSHIP CLASS event101 Bunko Sunday 10/22 One Time 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM Location: Silver Creek Gym Leaders: Ann Priest and Connie Brock oldandinlove@msn.com Description: Bunko is an easy game to learn and a competitive game to play.
