By human nature, we need someone to talk with, to hold on to, to give comfort, and to shed light of hope and assurance of acceptance in this difficult situation. As Christian people, God calls us to walk with those who are hurting, and with those who are dealing with loss. As a parish family, we often walk together with each other during these times. We want to be able to serve the needs of our people, and by developing a bereavement ministry we will enable those with gifts of mercy and encouragement (and any other gift God calls us to use) to walk with those in their time of need. Holy Family Parish is starting a Bereavement Ministry to accompany our parishioners when they encounter this time in their life. I am inviting each one of you to prayerfully consider if you are willing to spend time and be present to our brothers and sisters when they need us most. Anyone who has the heart and love to sacrifice a little is invited to contact me via phone or and we will work together to make this ministry a reality for our parish. Thank you so much. God bless you all. Fr. Celso Singson Village House Is Here Our guests have arrived and will be with us until December 6th. We STILL NEED HELP, especially with over-night hosts. Please see our Holy Family Website: holyfamilysanjose.org or the Village House sign-up page: Donations to cover food/paper goods, et al can be made to Holy Family print Village House on your check s memo line. Sure, check with one of the Knights outside mass today on how you can drop off your donation of new or lightly used coats or a cash donation to help purchase the Coats for Kids. Holiday Boutique Complete your holiday shopping at Holy Family's 15th Annual Holiday Boutique. 2 Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, Deep in my heart I want to yell out loud, You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. (2 Cor 2:11-12) During the celebration of All Saints Mass, our community also welcomed our Village House guests. As of now we are hosting 13 guests each night from 7PM 7AM until December 6 th. I am so deeply touched with the out pouring generosity of our faithful who have signed up to assist with various needs. It has been great thus far and our guests are immersed in love as and those who are volunteering are also finding it very fulfilling. We are still in need of more volunteers to cover until Dec. 6 th. Our Meal Ministry is intended to serve our parishioners only, who lives alone and at times cannot cook due to shortterm sickness. As of now, Meal Ministry consists of the flowing members, led by Bernadette Lewis: Mary Beaumont Donna Holt Nita Cruz Lynn Bailey Debby Edginton Jody Abraham I am very grateful to them all, especially to Bernadette Lewis who is willing to lead the team. Due to many commitments, including Village House ministry, our Meal Ministry will officially begin serving our community in January When the date draws closer, I will inform the community how to reach out to Bernadette to be a helper or to request help. May God continue to bless and transform our community, so that we can always be Jesus hands and feet to those who are in need. God bless, Fr. God loves everyone without excep- tion and the church He founded practices that love for all her members. Our Holy Family parish is also extending this love to all parishioners under her care. Like our Facebook page to get involved: holyfamilyyoungadultssj Catholic Roadmap We are living in a time when the public square is filled with loud and often contentious debate. At such times it is wise to remember that the opinions of the person who remains calm and respectful of other views are the ones most often remembered. Liturgy Link The Mass Our Offering Continued from last week. After the sign of peace, a part of the Mass that most of us don't notice, is the fraction of the bread. The fraction of the bread is where the priest takes the Eucharistic Bread and breaks it. The priest alone does this, unless the case requires that he be assisted by the deacon or concelebrants (concelebrants are priests). In this simple gesture, which Christ did at the last supper, our salvation is made clear. The faithful are one body, by receiving the Bread of Life; our Lord Jesus, who for the salvation of the world, died and rose again. When the priest is breaking the bread, he puts a piece of the host in the chalice, which represents the unity of the Body and the Blood of Jesus in our salvation. The body of Jesus is living and glorious! While the fractioning is going on, the Agnus Dei (Lamb of God) is sung, or at minimum recited aloud. The line, Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, have mercy on us may be repeated as many times as needed during the fractioning rite. As the rite is concluding, the last line is sung with grant us peace. Next time you re at Mass, see if you can spot the priest dropping the piece of the host into the chalice. When you do, thank Jesus silently for his sacrifice and your salvation. Kathy Bohac Coordinator of Liturgy Join us for EDGE this week as we help the middle school youth understand the impact that original sin has on their relationship with God and the world around them.
